  1. By your quoted info above, he is no longer a convening authority or Commander and in a short amount of time, the "offender" would no longer be subject to the UCMJ and therefore this would not be applicable.
  2. I think what you will find is that once the Gen is removed from the chain of command that his potential "influence" is eliminated. Thus the reason that a GO from outside 19AF is now going to listen to the arguments and make the decision in this case. It preserves the MAJCOM CC ability to act impartially in the future as well.
  3. I am not sure that his decision is irrevocable, but I would bet that the accused and his ADC would be unwilling to roll the dice on the possible consequences. A 15 for an officer is typically limited to half a months pay x2. A federal conviction and much harsher potential penalties are a steep difference. JAGs typically do not support a 15 when they cannot make the case in court. Can you explain how you think this amounts to UCI?
  4. Except for the fact that by this point the accused has already elected to accept the Article 15 process. Then the accused also asked to make a presentation and that it be made public. Those decisions then get us to this point... Back to you regular sport bitching.
  5. Then the blog must be right...
  6. It was not an inter webs "forum." ThreeHoler and Vetter got it, except there are one too many zeros.
  7. I hate to say it, but it depends. AFPC can waive the ADSC...not typical, but it can be done. If you 7-day opt there are certain rules for establishing a DOS or retire-in-lieu of the assignment. The retirement AFI is some good reading but MPF will have no clue on anything that is out of the ordinary.
  8. Except that he has 3 years of retainability and a CONUS to CONUS move is only a 2 year ADSC.
  9. HIgh 36 months average of pay like you said. You retire with an ID card that says Maj
  10. The shortages in the late 90's was solved exactly this way. Heavy guys that flew T-38's x-flowed to fighters. B-course limitations not withstanding, right now and in the next couple of years, you don't have enough people to put through the b-course even if you had the capacity in the b-course.
  11. Everyone flying the same aircraft in UPT allows the AF to x-flow pilots between platforms, if desired, to fix any shortages. One of the limitations of the current program.
  12. The B-52 is supposed to be in the fleet well past 2020. IIRC, it is scheduled to fly until at least 2040.
  13. Call AFPC and talk with your CC. Had this situation come up several years ago with one of my guys and it worked out but talking sooner rather than later helps so AFPC doesn't have to undo someone else's orders to help your situation. It can still be done either way. One is much easier.
  14. That discussion is taking place. Do all the guys at the top of the rack and stack need to go to JAWS or ( name the school) or do we send some of them to ACSC/ AWC? Do we de-value the AF schools that much? Why? How do the other services view other schools (versus their own)? It's an interesting dynamic.
  15. Agreed, but not what I am talking about. In the past the DT completes rack and stack and then sends the top folks to the other than Maxwell schools. There is a discussion about (post rack and stack) spreading some of the top folks out to AF schools and other than AF schools. Not sure how much traction it will get.
  16. There is a discussion about this and a plan to change/fix it. Not sure if it has been "approved" yet. Others that have seen the process, please chime in, but my understanding is that typically your selects rack and stack higher in the DT. When designating a guy to a particular school, typically the higher on the list you are the "better" the school you go to. Additionally, you'll see HPOs go to a school that may result in joint duty on the back end to get their JSO designation, etc. If already joint complete then you may see the HPOs go to an outside the AF school. YMMV.
  17. The re-write of the AFI, based on his policy, was very explicit with regards to SOS. However, not so explicit when it comes to ACSC or AWC. I can see plenty of SRs rationalizing their actions as you stated above, unless he is explicitly clear in the annual Wing CC meetings that he holds.
  18. I think this was asked somewhere in this thread or another about sister service DL. I ran across the following today on the AU website FAQs. If this was already answered my apologies. Q: As an Air Force officer, can I enroll in a sister service distance learning PME program? A: Sister service schools establish their own eligibility requirements. And, you can enroll. However, Air Force DE policy requires that you complete your service school first before receiving credit for a completed sister service program.
  19. How so? In terms of the original question related to IDE candidates.
  20. It's all about the jury...no one can predict what they will do. The possible punishment in the UCMJ is higher in many cases, but the jury decides punishment...in jury cases.
  21. They won't photoshop the image because their AFI and a DODI forbids it. It also forbids you to do it and then use the photo for any official purpose...just sayin. If you want to use it for some personal reason then good on you. I think I have had three or four official photos taken in over 20 years and that included back when I needed one in my record. As long as the rank is right, I have found it to not be a big deal. Like Champ I have also been places recently that wanted UOD photos for award winners.
  22. i may be slightly off but Azimuth's original post was referencing an AMC wing that had iPads already and they seem to be replacing them with the iPad mini. Home star was replying to that post wrt tech refresh not new purchases. And if not then MacDill found a way, but again AMC is already on the EFB train.
  23. I second the security clearance info above. It took a short explanation about why I had an account at a foreign bank. Had an account in Germany...better exchange rate than on base and used it to pay all my local bills like rent and utilities.
