  5. SAF/PC has the final Total force say. It doesn’t matter if you have disapproved from everyone. They seem to meet every 6-8 weeks but that is WOM.
  6. I’m going to have 5.5 yrs of bonus @35k in the reserves. Step 1. Go Reserves/ANG Step 2. Get airline job Step 3. Mil leave/AGR Step 4. Reserve Bonus Step 5. Make fun of all the AD suckers that took the bonus
  7. Shoutout to Jon and the team at Trident loans. Closed at %3.125 on an IRRRL. Jon was super helpful and responsive. Trident will be my go to from now on.
  8. They failed to cite my sos paper from 2013 which said the same thing. My guess is they’ll get the 100k bonus in 2023. #toolittletoolate.
  9. You can do Dave Ramsey, and guess what Uncle Sam gets 55 percent when you die, and you can’t take it with you. Yolo. Yes, I know what estate planning is, and the 3.2 million GST is chump change. Enjoy life while you can.
  10. Took 5 months total 8 weeks for SAF/PC, SAF/PC approved 05 Apr Received Notification 19 Apr after they assured my OG they used expedited procedures in case they approved my 9 May request Now fighting on getting at least the 45 days allowed for outprocessing. Cue clown music...
  11. K11F3H requested 6 months 15Nov approved yesterday for a 09May separation Does anyone have experience pushing the DOS back? I’m working with the PC folks to try to get pushed back to 09 July. I’m pretty sure I won’t go from scratch to separation overseas in 19 days....
  12. The HOR move is incorrect. Per the JTR you get normal PCS entitlements reference my previous post.
  13. This might be useful for someone fighting with MPF. From the current JTR 051002. Service Member Separates or is Released from Active Duty, Excluding a Discharge with Severance or Separation Pay I. Service Member Contracts with an RC. A Service member who separates from active duty to continue military service through a signed contract in an RC, may be authorized PCS travel and transportation allowances through the Secretarial Process to the designated Selected Reserve PDS, instead of limiting costs to the HOR or the PLEAD. (page 5(1)B-33) This means I get PCS allowances to my new reserve duty station RC = Reserve Component, which includes the Air Force Reserve, see page A-42
  14. Anyone know if they board everyone once your App has made it to SAF/PC. The AFPC rep said the board meets twice a month Applied Nov 15 Made it to SAF PC Feb 5 with all recomending approval. Requested 6 months, May 9th. At this point I wouldn’t be suprised if they approved and only gave me two weeks to try and get my orders together.
  15. Its going to be interesting watching senior leaders explain the multiple rounds of VSP, and the number of pilots twice passed over to my congressman. Somehow I think negligence and mismanagement isn't going to go over too well. My best guess is the red line gets tripped sometime late 2017 to early 2018. Data point I'm up for the bonus and I'm not taking it.
  16. Estate tax is actually 40%, and it would only apply after the 5,340,000 gift exemption. Consider that much of that $11 million could have been protected in trusts for children/grandchildren and that 11 million vs 5 million argument isn't as valid.
  17. Gravedigger, didn't you wash out of pilot training?
  18. TnkrToad, I don't think the bonus is ineffective per se; however, I do think it would be an effective tool if it were raised. Let's say my number is 50k a year, which doesn't seem unreasonable since the 25k per year has been around for 15 years, and inflation adjusted assuming 2% inflation it should be 34k. It is still much cheaper to pay a fighter pilot 500k then try to replace him. Assuming 1200-1500 Ftr Hours at Seperation x 10k per flight hour plus pilot training and the replacement costs are a significant cost driver. I'm not an actuary, but any bonus under 1-2 million to retain the majority of the folks would still likely be cost effective from an experience cost standpoint. Additionally, it takes 3-4 years to get an experienced fighter pilot which is one of the major issues the fighter porch is dealing with right now. Quite frankly, AFPC's number crunchers are doing a piss poor job in my view. I'd love to see what an actuary at a major insurance company thinks the bonus should be. Unfortunately, the air force is more concerned with creating GO's than retaining experienced line flyers. As a result the bonus becomes somewhat irrelevant as you alluded to with something like the top 20% and bottom 20% taking the bonus.
  19. The solution is simple. Prioritize people who can 7 day opt over OG number 1's when it comes to the assignment process. People are getting out because the rich are getting richer in the assignment process and signing a commitment for 9 years to suck up bad deals seems like a bad choice when there are are guard and airline options beginning to develop. All of the guard bro's I've been talking to are saying there are good full-time ART opportunities as older guys filter back to the airlines. Without significant financial incentive, around 50k per year, I don't see many fence sitters willing to jump on AFPC's assignment that's the equivalent of the proverbial fat chick.
  20. Who was the guy with a P who got promoted with no IDE or AAD? I want to know his story.
  21. A few of my troops were told they were no longer going to meet the ERB. All of the E's that were notified had applied for VSP. I'm guessing notifications are imminent on the enlisted side. O side can get out the Tarot cards for information because Tarot is more accurate than AFPC at this point.
  22. Liquid could you please provide one example of how an AAD made the air force more effective in flying, fighting and winning? I'm pretty sure you can't. The system you've described is very good at selecting the best hoop jumper not the best leader.
