Anyone out there Palace Front after getting passed over twice for Lt Col ? Looking for advice... When should I start the process to get medically approved to separate? When should I start coordinating a waiver for getting twice passed over? I don’t want to do it after I get passed over and then try and seven day opt and then not get the waiver approved. Any other Limfacs that I’m missing? I’m trying to make the transition as smooth as possible. Feel free to PM me. Thanks

Are there any prior Navy folks on here that'd be able to elaborate on their transition to the Air Guard or Reserves? Also, if there are any prior F-18 guys who can provide a comparison between Navy fighter squadron QOL/typical workday and AF Guard (fighter squadron) QOL/typical workday, that'd be awesome.

Hey guys, so I’ve been keeping up to date on all my Air Guard news while sipping this delicious blue kool-aid they have in the waiting area at the medical clinic and I came across an article that said the AF had completed their re-winging project on the A-10. obviously, the money got sent to AD units first and I was wondering if Idaho got a piece of the pie? New wings would mean they're back in business and not being selected for the F35 is a none-issue. Will anyone in the squadron care to comment? I was curious how things we're going up there, I saw some locals through a fit about the noise. And some other news says another (albeit small) BRAC is coming …

  12. I am looking for a comparison between the ANG hiring process vs the Air Force reserve UPT hiring process for active duty. Hopefully this will help others who are going to apply from active duty, as I know ADSC and PCS cycles can be really important in this process. Specifically: 1. Are you looking for me to immediately to leave active duty once you hire me, or would I stay on active duty until my UPT dates? 2. I understand the paperwork process is different in the ANG and AF reserves. Is it easier to transition from active duty to the reserves than to the guard, vice versa, or pretty much the same? 3. How much leeway is there in getting hired and officially…

Note: Tried searching this topic in the forum and found very little on it specifically. Is there a general consensus or standard on how/when to request an accelerated promotion in AFRC? According to Mypers its a letter pushed through VPC to ARPC. Have a date but its > 1 yr out, which puts me at 7 yrs TIG/11 yrs total service for O-4. Seems strange considering PVs are promoting at 5 yrs TIG/9 yrs total basically giving them a 2 year advantage. My CC sounds like he would consider pushing the request to Sr Rater (Wg/CC) but not sure what kind of justification is required to get an O-6 to approve. Right now my unit is grossly undermanned for officers, and the …

  16. I made a thread a while ago about advice for what to do during a unit visit. Sadly that visit ended up being cancelled due to Delta Variant. I've tried calling the unit back since but no luck. I've been calling several heavy units all across the country, mostly focused on areas I want to live. But it seems that every single one does not allow visits. Either due to delta variant or they say they get too many applicants/visit request they can't have 100+ people come and visit. Or the more common one, the scheduler gives me the number for an officer and their phone always goes straight to voicemail with the voicemail box being full. Has anyone else had any luck?

Had a guy transfer in Oct—still hasn’t received his certs or flag. ARPC is now so behind with retirement processing that they’re not even looking at applications until the month prior or the month of transfer. If they don’t look at it until this late date, I have to ask: WHAT IS THE REASON FOR MANDATING A 6 MONTH (minimum!) NOTICE!?

I know it’s early, but any idea if there will be opportunities to learn the T-7 even if coming from a non T-38 background? What are they thinking about doing with all the T-1 IPs? Are they just going to transfer and do something else?

The 114th Fighter Squadron is holding a hiring board in June for the F-35 training pipeline. Please submit applications to the MilRecruiter link below. Due to the number of application packages we have received and the high ops tempo that we currently have, we are putting a hold on squadron visits. We will plan on extending invites to visit the squadron after your application has been received and reviewed. If you are invited, you can plan on attending a visit during the May drill from the 3rd-5th of May. We will attempt to get invites out as soon as possible. I realize this is not ideal for planning purposes but due to TDYs and the mission this is where we are…

Howzit going aviators! I just finished sophomore year of college and am about to start my part 61 flight school in a couple weeks. However, I have had a few weeks to myself and it sucks not being able to be productive towards this goal. Ive been talking to our pilots about it and most ask me, "do you have leadership experience outside of the military or in your enlisted shop?" "do you volunteer?" and it made me realize that I don't have much special extracurriculars or stand-out leadership experience. Ive asked my supervisors about leadership and I was pretty much told that as an E2 its impractical which is justifiable. As a result, I was thinking about what I can do for …

  22. Baseop’rs, We’ve got 2 positions on the west coast (NorCal and Hawaii) available for a Category E IMA position (non flying) with Civil Air Patrol -USAF. We provide congressionally mandated oversight of Civil Air Patrol and serve as liaisons between CAP and the Air Force. Unique job, must be self-motived. All the regular readiness items (CBTs and fitness test…). Great opportunity to make a difference with motivated CAP cadets. Pros Very flexible, low/no threat of deployment MPA is normally available if you want to be more involved. O-5 promotion possible (I’m proof of that) with PME and above average participation. Limited paid Categ…

  23. Saw this article pop up on reddit. https://www.govexec.com/pay-benefits/2025/06/new-pay-claims-active-duty-federal-employees-possible-after-supreme-court-decision/406131/ I'm a sucker on AD and definitely not smart enough to understand court speak but seems like it might apply to some of y'all to go get some extra pay. "The court ruled on April 30 in its Feliciano v. Department of Transportation decision that military reservists called up to active duty during a national emergency are entitled to the difference between their military and civilian salaries regardless of whether that service was substantially connected to the emergency in question."
