  1. All same here, first person in my family born in America. Whoever thought of this idea was completely out of their element. I joined ROTC pretty late, my two cents on their “outreach” is this: its complete booty. Theres no real effort at the officer recruitment level at diversity.
  2. I agree with @WannaFly2019 on all. TIS is Time In Service. 1 year TIS means you need to have been on active duty for at least 1 year prior to a certain date to apply for the board. That does not include any sort of ADSC (Active Duty Service Commitment) that is incurred by a career field, which varies between different jobs. Rated guys typically have to wait longer to apply, as they have to go through ~2 years of training, followed by a certain amount of time in their field before they can cross-train. Other jobs, like as an example engineers, have no formal tech school, so they can literally cross over at 366 days TIS. PSDM is just the memo they send out, 7-8 pages long, documents the process and dates for applying.
  3. On a good note, rate of new infections nationwide has been slowly dropping, and deaths have been down for the third day in a row.
  4. Getting on the back end of the curve, with less new cases and deaths per day. Having rapid testing everywhere to clear people back to work. Maybe a decent treatment program (anti-malaria drugs, antibodies, etc). Probably partial openings, restaurants/bars are screwed for a while longer, schools are done till August. Vaccine is at least a year out.
  5. https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2020/03/common-good-constitutionalism/609037/ A buddy and I have been talking about how the bad situation we are in is a breeding ground for the rise of bad ideas. Here is a Harvard professor literally suggesting fascism. Not directly COVID-19 related, but still need to be wary.
  6. Got email saying there was a change, checked vMPF for my assignment and saw it. My new orders haven’t even been cut yet. I’m glad Im still going.
  7. 31 May. Not sure if COVID related, but probably is. Gonna get more info on Monday, I knew Laughlin was having housing issues with graduates not being able to PCS out, so probably some backup alleviation.
  8. This mornings earthquake here in Utah definitely has people on edge more than before. Stores have lines now due to limitations to how many people are allowed in due to possibly compromised structures. At least they have TP and some cleaning stuff on hand. Listen to the CDC. Wash your ing hands, distance yourselves from others. This will all be over sooner if we all do what we have to do. Im just glad its not hitting kids.
  9. Just about every engineering office at Hill has gone to telework. No pants and Uber Eats!
  10. Rated assignments team said its a rapidly changing situation, but AETC is working to make UFT “mission essential.” I would assume its all still a go.
  11. Are they still doing drops even without the nights?
  12. Ive got a 15 July class to Laughlin if you’re interested. PM me
  13. I wonder what the over/under is on our PCS’ being moved.....
  14. Happy to help. FC1 lead time varies a lot, but is never quick. A PPL will definitely help strengthen your packet. PM me if you have more particular questions to your application.
  15. I don’t think you’ll have enough time between your PRK, and getting your FC1 signed off in time for the board. With no waivers, it took me ~3 months from appointment to signed off. I think you need to have a 3-month post-op done, and IDK if you can get by without having the post-op done until after your FC1. Averages last year are on the UFT portion of the Rated Assignments portal. Its a good place for up-to-date information on the board, and the guys that run it are cool and answer questions quickly. Last year averages for 62 pilot-selects was a Pilot AFOQT of 94, and a PCSM of 85. Lowest PCSM accepted was 63, and 34/62 selectees had a PPL or higher. The Pilot Selection Process on here has threads for the boards in the last few years. Lots of great discussion there.
  16. 92T0 I think. Thats your standard “pilot trainee” AFSC
  17. Hey buddy, I do hope you get Vance and that you’re situation is sorted out. If you are still stuck going to Laughlin, I’ll be there in June as well, you can hit me up anytime 🍻
  18. What are your guys’ tips on mold mitigation? Only thing I can imagine I can’t do is cleaning deep inside the ducts, but cleaning the vents and coils, putting in a decent HEPA filter, and a strong dehumidifier should make it livable I suppose.
  19. Heading to Laughlin in June for UPT, looking to see how base housing is like. Are there typically vacancies or is there a long wait for housing? How is home internet when living on base, thats the only thing I can’t get a solid answer on. Going to be there with my wife, shes a high school teacher, I appreciate any info on the local school system. Also if anyone is selling a washing machine and dryer at that time, I am in the market for one when I get there. Thanks!
  20. Only confirmed for my class at Laughlin, but I figure they wouldn’t do it for just one class.
  21. It looks like for the normal UPT bases they are going towards having BIG CHUNGUS class sizes. My class at Laughlin will have 30 students. Thats in comparison to my buddies in UPT with like 15-20 in a class.
