Please refer to them as "earth people".
January 23, 200619 yr Author No disrespect intended to the non-flyers bravely serving.... I put "ground pounders" in quotations because it is a term I've heard used for the "earth people" (again, quotations) that are fighting the in-your-face battle on the streets from day-to-day. It can be interchanged with any label people would see fit to use. The point was we have airmen on the ground over there doing their part. It's not just the Army and Marines putting themselves in harm's way. I think people tend to lose sight of that sometimes...
January 23, 200619 yr Unfortunately, I think we are only going to start seeing more of these kinds of reports with the USAF taking over more responsibilities on the ground in Iraq and Afghanistan. Some training is being conducted at Camp Bullis, just north of San Antonio; but as the AF Times recently reported, expect more "Army training," and more, especially if you are a junior enlisted "ground person"... Cheers! M2
