Was talking with a buddy and can't figure something out. Does anybody know how long the tour is for the DIRMOBFOR position over in the desert? 4 months, 6 months, 1 year??

thanks...and no, I have no desire for that much rank! haha

The was a story on the USAF website a few days ago from Sec Wynne that said six months may be the more approriate length. The story dissappeared and today there is a story quoting CJCS, Gen Pace which says the following;

"The Air Force works with a lot of guardsmen and reservists blended into their units," the general said. "So as they look at it, a four-month rotation works very well."

General Pace said the differing tour lengths are confusing and frustrating to those on the ground.

"But in Washington, it makes sense for each of the services to be doing what they are doing,” he said. “But that doesn't mean we won't keep looking at the situation.”

A lot of Wing CCs and other higher up jobs seem to have 1 year positions while the squads, at least in the Herk community, are doing 4 on/4 off. I'm curious about those positions, especially the DIRMOBFOR position.

The new DIRMOBFOR, Gen. McDew, will be there for 4 months. I just kind of assumed that meant everyone had that job for 4.
