February 6, 201411 yr FWIW I'm applying for both VSP and Palace Chase even though I have a DOS set from the 7-day option. 2007 K12S3X with 9.6 months of nav school commitment remaining. Clearly the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing at AFPC so at this point I have absolutely nothing to lose by applying for all of the above and seeing what happens. February 6, 201411 yr People with a DOS are ineligible for VSP...HAHAHA...And people with UPT commitments were eligible until yesterday. Or maybe they still are, who knows I think I'll take my chances and apply anyways. There is an overage in my AFSC and year group. Most '99 & '00 guys that stayed in took the bonus as were expecting 20 years as a given. Little did we know… Assuming one year of pilot training as the standard that would make the very early '03 year group the youngest guys to have their UPT commitment complete. So, you've got: '99- Denied TERA or VSP (bonus ADSC) '00- Denied VSP (bonus ADSC) '01- Denied VSP (bonus ADSC) '02 - Denied VSP (bonus ADSC) '04- Denied VSP (UPT ADSC) '05- Denied VSP (UPT ADSC) '06- Denied VSP (UPT ADSC) '07- Denied VSP (UPT ADSC) '08- Denied VSP (UPT ADSC) Umm.. congratulations to '03 guys? February 6, 201411 yr This is so annoying. Is anyone else having trouble getting the calendar to pop-up to select a date for seperation under the VSP application? It won't let me input a date manually.
February 6, 201411 yr So if I'm reading all of this right, the AF is now afraid of losing pilots to the airlines in the near term, and subsequently they shut down almost every avenue of voluntary separation, save for PC. This, combined with the uncertainty of who might actually get RIF'd later this year is effectively blackmailing 11M's into the guard/reserves by threatening AD stop loss (and thus jeopardizing a career in industry). She said that if you are eligible for the RIF than 13-130 is the ONLY PSDM that applies to you. 14-08 is only for those not eligible. 13-130 has no such statement about referencing 13-65 for ADSC waivers. It's back on! Now how do I find good health insurance under obamacare? Wife is pregnant and due after separation.

You can keep Tricare Standard for something like ~$2200/quarter (~$733/mo), or join a guard/reserve unit and get it for $205/mo. Ran into the same issue getting out (Wife due right before separating, decided to go ANG). As a side note, most insurance you can purchase individually through folks like Blue Cross/United Healthcare/etc. doesn't cover maternity care. If you can get in with a small business/employer/trade group/etc., those policies usually cover maternity but check the fine print.

RIF-eligible officers submit VSP program applications via the vMPF IAW the VSP application instructions below. I think we all just assumed 14-08 applied to RIF eligible, but maybe not? Also, 13-130 says: Recoupment of unearned portions of education assistance funds, special pay, bonuses, or other monetary incentives WILL NOT occur for officers selected for separation. But it is not clear if it is only talking about involuntary separation or either one. Has anyone heard a clear answer? I'm specifically wondering about TA.

AFPC edited the PSDMs seemingly for the SOLE PURPOSE of excluding pilots from VSP in a roundabout way using a relatively narrow focused voluntary program (LADSC) in order to steer us toward Palace Chase. The folks at the help desk had been specifically briefed by the separations folks that UPT commitments wouldn't be waived and had answers for my specific year group (read: they know I'm RIF eligible). I hope it's true, but it doesn't jive with the other bullshit that's gone down today. Edited February 7, 201411 yr by BamaC-21
