September 18, 201312 yr Of course it was a joke, but when the 3 star asks the serious question of what the name should be, and that is the answer he gets, well... no one should be pissed when that becomes the actual, stupid name. Was the audience unaware that you cannot engage an EWO in the social intricacies of sarcasm and humor? They sit waaayyy to close to the waveguides. They only speak fax machine!
February 16, 201411 yr I was curious if there is a nickname for the U-28A aircraft, or if the aircrew call it something unofficially? Combat Liberty
March 6, 201411 yr U-28 phaseout, C-130 cuts proposed (AFSOC).https://www.nwfdailynews.com/military/top-story/u-28-phaseout-c-130-cuts-proposed-in-2015-budget-1.286998
March 7, 201411 yr Some of this has been OBE already. Glad the NW FL news is doing it's part to get the locals riled up in advance though.
March 7, 201411 yr The U-28 isn't being "cut", due to "budget", the fleet has burned through its life-cycle. Some of those airframes are approaching 25,000(?) hours which has already been extended by a waiver. Also most of that article is outdated; the higher-ups change their mind weekly....
March 8, 201411 yr None of this is news. It's been the plan for a while. Most of the aircraft mentioned are being replaced by new aircraft, not "cut".
March 9, 201411 yr The U-28 isn't being "cut", due to "budget", the fleet has burned through its life-cycle. Some of those airframes are approaching 25,000(?) hours which has already been extended by a waiver. Also most of that article is outdated; the higher-ups change their mind weekly.... Not true, there's plenty of life left in the fleet trust me. And with a little money could go considerably further. Cooter
March 11, 201411 yr And for the trouble of flying them longer than their service life we all play test pilot/cso. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
April 24, 201411 yr Anyone in the 524th now or previously have any updated info on the -146? I can PM .mil if necessary.
April 24, 201411 yr K State- What do you want to know? I was able to dig up a little bit on mission/capes on SIPR but I was curious how the guys flying it like the mission. Deployment info...locations, length, frequency. Also home station squadron life (other than the obvious Cannon stuff) like morale and flying home station. I'm looking at the possibility of a next assignment and the mission and aircraft sound awesome, just wanted more info.
April 26, 201411 yr "Ground, Hound to the Pound!" Still enjoy hearing you guys around KCVS...well played.
April 26, 201411 yr Don't do it. Duke is awful. Florida is disgusting, not that you would ever live there. They charge you a membership fee instead of paying you per diem. The mission will take you to only the worst places in the world. The program won't get you any valuable training for future flying. The plane is uncomfortable to fly and. You only turn left. NOBODY EVER APPLY TO THIS PROGRAM! (I need there to be plenty of room for me...) Edited April 26, 201411 yr by Fozzy Bear
April 26, 201411 yr I don't think the 524th is where you want to be right now. From what I hear, the climate is rather hostile and acrimonious.
April 27, 201411 yr I thought the manning was getting quite high too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
