If you told me that is from a AFROTC how the AF operates 101 booklet or something I would 100% believe it. 🤢

I'm going to bring this thread back, lets keep posting pictures and videos.
Here is some loose formation cruising in the middle of nowhere with a buddy.

Never would have thought there were this many RV owners on the forum. I feel like we should start a thread dedicated to posting pictures of GA flying.

It's that Wiley's 180?
RVs are awesome. I know the owner of this badass RV. He's not a Viper guy, just loves/appreciates what the military does and sees it as a tribute to the military. Great dude that built an immaculate RV-8, with a ridiculously awesome panel. That thing can fly full coupled ILS approaches and even has a freaking go-around button (only need to add power). What's crazy is that everything you see on there (patches/numbering/tail letters) was all hand painted...no stickers. You can't see it, but it even has the refuel door painted on the spine.
I need more money.

Would love an RV.
Do it.
They are more economical than a certified airplane, you can do as much of the work on it as you like and only need an A&P for the yearly conditional inspection (and if you build it you can sign off the yearly inspection too).
Hope to see some of you guys at Oshkosh this year!

I'd say that most guys are interested recreational flying but are too cheap to put up the cash to fly. Here are a few RVs at a fly in, two air force pilots and a Army pilot.

As much as I love the EAA there are some fees that I believe are in the 2-300 dollar range to start a chapter. If the goal is just to get a flying club started AOPA has resources to help you start one. https://www.aopa.org/community/flying-clubs

Good luck with starting it at Cannon. The story that Loach shared just shows how commanders are not willing to take any extra risk. Keep us updated if you make progress, I am sure there are many others of us that would love to get an Aero Club started back up.
Our WG/CC kinda blew the idea off when it was discussed. Go buy your own airplane if you love flying.

Sounds like some office linebacker kind of shit.

I had a buddy that couldn't pass the AFOQT, now hes flying fighters after doing PLC.
Keep in mind the difference in how the Marines use their officers compared to the Air Force. They are all Infantrymen first.

I'd love to know if you have ever taken investment advice from reddit wallstreetbets before?

"If Professor Wasserstrom is correct, then sex-segregated bathrooms provide an order that fosters a heterocentrist society. Why else do bathrooms segregate by biological sex? Trans men and women, homosexuals, and bisexuals confound the purpose of sex-segregated bathrooms. Trans persons introduce the possibility that the anatomy of the "opposite" sex is present in the bathroom; homosexuals and bisexuals introduce the possibility of same-sex sexual attention. If we recognize that we are all truly pansexual, however, then there should be no need for bathrooms segregated only by biological sex. Preserving both the anatomical mystery (as if anatomy is really a mystery in this day and age) and the heterocentrist focus is no longer a priority. We may want to have individual bathroom facilities or private stalls in communal facilities that allow for personal privacy and modesty. Similarly, separate stalls may serve to reduce the incidence of violence against women in bathrooms, but our current system of sex-segregated bathrooms makes no sense from a pansexual perspective."
BLUF: LBGTs are checking you out in the bathroom,.

I thought it was a memo authorizing sliding up the sleeves, never an actual change to AFI.
Also, we have been told we are not going to buy more FDUs because we need to save money to purchase the Army flight suits. What a waste of money.

A lot of pilots I talk to seem to think that we are still required to complete a biannual flight review. AOPA breaks down some common questions and clearly explains that we do not need one within 24 months of a USAF checkride.
Also, I think there is a pretty good sized group of us on here that own airplanes. More specifically Vans RV airplanes, it is the most fun for your buck if you want to buy something.

I didn't want to de-rail the GTC discussion, but if you have the Chase sapphire reserve I would suggest getting the Hilton Aspire card, there are some great benefits to it. $250 dollars for airline fees but I have gotten gift cards with American Airlines with no issues. $250 dollar resort credit at Hilton resorts. A free hotel stay once a year. And probably the best perk is automatic Diamond status with Hilton.
Chase waives the annual fee for AD. I am not sure if we can share referral codes but I would happily share mine via PM to get 20K hilton points.

Instead taking someone out of their primary airframe for 3-4 years and loosing their quals etc why don’t we do short 3-4 month TDYs to other airframes, especially those that have jump seats and extra space? You could be on the tour and get a bunch of right hand seat time and learn about other communities/missions etc. If you are taking a multi day trip/ocean crossing/deployment/combat zone just require another qualified pilot is on bored to swap you out or provide some additional brain power is shit really gets crazy.
This sounds like a much better idea and use of a Pilot's time. But the AF will never buy in, we have way too many rules and no leaders willing to accept any amount of additional risk. So we will continue to clog up PTX courses with dudes that will fly a different MWS for maybe 2 years before they PCS to some other bright and shiny job...

I don't think they can force you to accept the 3 yr accompanied, but if you choose to do 2 yr unaccompanied the AF won't pay for your wife to move over. Other considerations are how it may or may not affect weight allowance for HHG shipment, whether you collect OHA or BAH at your wife's CONUS location, live on vs. off base, etc. Is the assignment location really that terrible you guys don't want to do 3 years?
I don't think it would be that big of a loss of money and that could possibly be a full year further away from that line number.

Yea they said no to that, I think they are waiting to see what the supreme court rules on DACA before they use it as a bargaining chip.
I don't understand why they don't try to add in some big infrastructure projects into the bill. The president wants to do that and they usually end up benefiting the large cities on the coasts.

I have a few questions on OCONUS PCS ADSCs. I know it is normally a 2 year single and 3 year married tour, what happens if you get married right after arriving or even before getting to the new assignment? Do they force you to extend to 3 years, i've heard a few different things. Also if you are married and do not want the assignment to last 3 years can you accept an unaccompanied tour even if AFPC wants you there for 3 or do they even care?
Thanks
