Great lesser known flying movies...
"The Pilot" with Cliff Robertson. Upbeat/downbeat <sts> film about a DC8 pilot (hey, it was 1980) who has a drinking problem. Some of the scenarios are a liitle far-fetched, but there's some great photography. Sadly lacking in the sex department, but still enjoyable. F

Protesters at soldier's funerals
These b*ttAss*s use their own children to help them protest. In interviews the kids don't have any idea what it's all about. Perverse.

Is she better off not knowing?
Oh brother... I say we include a midget (Little Person) as well! And since we're being critisized for "Judging" something - let's see the pic and judge for ourselves! F

Challenger Explosion
Not quite true. After STS-51 everyone went back to full-pressure suits (First few flights featured full suits (Crippen and Young)). There were a number of schemes suggested after that, including a crew capsule (B1B, F111 style). Pressure suits were deemed the most effective (translation = cost-effective). <SNIP Edited to add: "usaf36031" posted while I was typing.

Physics of flight: Plane on a treadmill
Prof. Bernoulli would roll his eyes. Most here haven't agreed on the components of the test. I guess I assumed we were all talking about no relative wind over the wing (or any other lifting surface). It sure seems like everyone gets goofed up on wheel friction. Are those folks saying that if the aircraft was tied down it would still fly off? In the Mythbusters show, it sure looked like the airplane had forward movement (relative to the ground), and therefore ended up with some air moving over the wings. In the mini-test they did, it looked like there was air pressure (and very little was needed) to get that little thing (sts) airborn. Hey come on - no relative air over the wing = no fly.

Ground Stealth
Actually, the light bending thing (their next step) is pretty cool (and supposedly feasable). As for what they are talking about now - well, that'll work well until someone figures out how to put the Debbie Does Dallas disc in the projector. GP

Missing soldiers
What a shame so few understand this fact. And it is far worse than the public understands - this creeping, crawling disease... F
