They recently changed the selection criteria and the PCSM is now 40%. I had an 80 on the PCSM and I know someone from my det who had a PCSM of 1 that got picked up. I was distinctly told by my cadre that because of my major I was not picked up for a slot. It sucks but what happens is what happens and I'm still going to be the best at whatever I do. However, it's not going to stop me from still trying to get on the alternate list or applying on AD.

I was just passed over for a pilot slot in this most recent board because I'm in Electrical Engineering. I had scores much higher than some people that did receive slots so I would say now that your major does matter. If you are computer/electrical engineering you will probably be picked up for that over pilot or any rated position. Something may fall into place in the future but at least at this point it looks like the AF is picking and choosing with those majors.

I am at VT and currently there is one officer dead and another individual dead as well. The shooter is still at large and we are still in lockdown. Pray for the Hokies.

For me at least, I don't think doing engineering is much harder than other majors especially since the AF will let you pull it out to 5 years since it's a tech major. However, most importantly do what you like. In my case I know that I'd much rather be sitting doing EE homework than writing a poli sci or history paper. Don't get me wrong, engineering is a lot of work but I know I'd rather be doing it than some fuzzy major and my gpa is better off because of it.

I have a few questions about TPS or planning for TPS that would be great to get cleared up. 1. I'm getting my bachelor's in EE right now, but I want to plan ahead for my master's before I'm done with my undergrad degree. Can someone explain the process of getting an educational delay? I've been searching but have only found bits and pieces thrown around and I want to know more. Mainly, do you give up your assigned AFSC when you do an educational delay? 2. How likely is it to be able to get into AFIT right after college? With the AFIT slot are you required to to serve in some sort of engineering capacity after you graduate from it? Going hand in hand with the previous question, do you have to give up your assigned AFSC if you get an AFIT slot? 3. Does the TPS board want an M.S. or does a M.Eng work as well? I will probably do the M.S. but I was just wondering whether the latter is acceptable or not. Thanks!

One other question, is Intralase and wavefront guided LASIK acceptable within the waiver? In other words is all laser lasik acceptable? I think I read some stuff online awhile ago that it was, but I wasn't able to find it again.

I will be getting my LASIK surgery this winter and I wanted to be able to clear up a few questions I have about the waiver so I can make sure that I have everything done correctly. 1. So I only need to fill out the CRS Waiver Checklist and review with my NCO that I meet the pre-op standards before I get the surgery? I don't need to get another form HQ that gives me the ok to go ahead and get the surgery? I just want to make sure that there isn't anything else I need to fill out. It just seems a little less complicated than I thought it would be. 2. The medical NCO at my det said that I needed to include all forms and charts that the doctor fills out at every checkup. What exactly am I looking for or am I just asking for a copy of everything the eye doctor writes down about me at the appointment? Also, the medical NCO said that I need to get him all of my new information after every check-up instead of submitting it all at the end when I was done with the checklist. 3. Is it true that I can get the checkups needed to fill out the CRS waiver form at a different place from where I got the surgery? I live 9 hours away from my school and there isn't any time of the year that I can get the surgery at one place and be able to get all of the checkups done at that same place. On page 32 of the attached document I found the CRS waiver checklist and I wanted to make sure that this is the correct form that I have to fill out.
