From some friends I know that have recently gone through and from a few FAIPs I know, you will still go through IPT regardless. I have all the way up to my CFI and if I’m selected I’ll have to go through IPT. I was also told if you have these ratings already, you’d just do the stage checks and not the checkrides.

I was notified that my package was received and will meet the board in September. The program managers I’m assuming reached out to all wing execs telling them whose packages were received in anticipation of wing execs sending word down the chain. That’s not how I found out how mine was received but then again, those who applied from my wing don’t even know where they stratted.

Yeah constantly looking at your package is going to drive you crazy. I recommend just downloading the countdown app and setting it for like November 14th. That’s my estimation when results will be released and having that be a date to look forward to and then just focusing on continuing to grow where you are now. Football is about to start, then we have thanksgiving. Join a fantasy league and have fun with that. Just do something else except open your package. What’s there is there and you can’t change it. The board is 4 weeks away. Can you find something cool to do for 4 weeks lol. I’m taking my multi engine check ride this week. I take the family to Hawaii in a week and a half, then October will be here before you know it. Then it’s at least 45 days until we all know once October hits. What is submitted is submitted. I got confirmation that my package is board ready and will meet the board in September. Other than that, there’s nothing else I can do.

Not really. I have a rule to submit and forget. That’s what I did when applying to OTS. Now do I think about it? Yes and wish November was here already. But I can’t speed up time. So I’m focusing on still kicking ass at work and football!!! And my family lol.

Between November 14th to the 21st with an official release of probably the 28th and pcs’s starting in January or February.

I’m not sure why my reply didn’t post but I’m typing it again. In my sq, we have instructor Lt’s so that’s weird your sq doesn’t have that. But, in my squadron there were about 5 that I believe submitted and I think all 5 made it to the wing. I did get confirmation that my package made it to the board so I’m hoping others did as well. As for the wing strat, I’d love to know how I did and I hate that this year it was changed to where the wing had to submit packages because it felt like once the package left the sq, it just went to a black hole. But at this phase I do believe that knowing how you did at the wing may be a moot point. If we’re meant to be picked up this year then we will, regardless of wing strats. After asking around I know how I did at the group, my sq cc told us, and I am assuming the rankings at the group could be similar to how we did at the wing since the group strat doesn’t go on the 215. Regardless, being rated already makes things super competitive and you gotta figure out how to make yourself stand out and FAA ratings beyond ppl can help because it seems like everyone has a ppl now a days. Anyways good luck to you and your peeps in your sq.

Last year when I was going to apply. My commander at the time said there’s rumblings that if you’re going to apply for UPT through the cross flow board that FY25 and FY26 are the years you want to apply to. So I’m assuming a good number of slots.

I think this sentence out of the PDSM answers the question “The applicant’s Senior Rater is the nominating official (i.e., a wing commander or equivalent in a Senior Rater position)”. for example, you want to potentially get cgo of the quarter….just because you did some cool stuff in the quarter doesn’t mean you’re competitive to win that quarter. Your supervisor is going to use their discretion to determine if they’re going to submit a package for you. Same concept, if your sq/gp/wg doesn’t believe you’re competitive they don’t HAVE to submit or “nominate” you. I’m not saying it’s right but it’s how it works. Last year my WG/CC didn’t endorse my package because in his mind I didn’t have enough time in the career field or wasn’t close to the 2.5 year rated service commitment even though I was ranked 1/9 at my sq and then #2 at the group. My old Sq/CC tried to advocate for me the GP/CC tried and my new SQ/CC tried to advocate but nope. Did it suck? Yes but here I am a year later applying. #1 out the sq #1 out the gp…and no one knows where they ranked at the wg. So no there’s no reg that states they don’t have to push packages to the board if they don’t want to, but it’s common practice with any type of board.

I’m seeing a lot of comments about PCSM and what the board looks for and etc…I do want to say that if you happen to make it to the board, you have just as equal of a chance to make it as the next person. With that being said…the more competitive you make yourself, the better chance you have of being picked up. Now if you’re already in the rated community, for example RPA it’s going to be tough, and the reason being is because of the standards at the sq/gp/wg. Each command is entitled to judge and rack and stack as they please. If they want you to have a specific PCSM before they push you then that’s their stipulation and if you want it bad enough then I know you have it in you to get the score required. Now, you could be the best in your career field….that doesn’t mean you’ll be a good manned pilot, or that doesn’t necessarily show leadership potential. Are you doing something different than what every other person is doing who is applying to this board. Are you making an impact outside of work? Are you talking about how great you’ve been in your current career field and that’s it? Remember, the Air Force is ALWAYS going to choose what’s best for the Air Force and if your desires and interests fit into what the Air Force needs AND wants, then you have a good shot at getting picked up. Lastly, I’ll say this, keep killing it and growing in whatever you are doing currently. If this path is meant for you, it’ll happen. I’m a believer in God and do believe in his will and timing. I’m applying this year and if it’s meant for me I’ll get it. And I truly believe the same for you. Whether it’s your first time applying or third…don’t get discouraged. Good luck to everyone !
