  1. What? My quote or a simple search isn't good enough? =)

    http://www.class0702.com/docs/FY09_BOT.doc

In addition to the quote I posted above, you can find it in Section A2.3.4.1

And why would you be pissed you got a great GPA? If you're in will you have a good-enough attitude?

Im not talking about in regards to me, I would consider myself extremely lucky if they stop considering GPA (haven't read it yet) since mine is not the greatest and I am doing the best I can to make up for starting off bad. (Im out of college but still taking classes just to bring my GPA back up). I just can foresee some people would be pretty unhappy that they put some much work into their GPA when they could of been having more fun doing other things, im sure someone will complain, but I am obviously not in that boat.

    Edited after reading document...

Q2: Should I submit an application on an applicant with a low GPA and/or test scores?

A: Maybe. Recruiters should proceed carefully when GPA and AFOQT scores are low, because chances of selection decrease. To be potentially competitive, an applicant must have exceptional strengths in work experience, leadership, and communications skills, along with other leadership traits. For GPA waiver consideration, the applicant must have an AFOQT composite score of at least 150. The AFOQT composite score is the total score comprised from summing the AA, V, and Q sub-composite AFOQT scores.

    P. 37

so its still taken into consideration, albeit apparently not rated as heavily.. from what I'm reading into.. Well time to go volunteer at the homeless shelter :)

  2. Quoted from the most recent 09 BOT guide.

(Accept vs. Except? Who makes these docs?!)

As mentioned in the previous thread can we get a link or something to this, this sounds to good to be true for me, and I reckon would piss off alot of the guys that stayed in their room all through college to get a good GPA

  3. I use a HW6945, couldn't be happier I had been carrying around both a pda and a cell phone for a long time.. I finally combined them. I like the GPS built in (its an actual GPS many phones Triangulate your phone and its a mock type GPS. I need to find some software I like for it though..

Just a heads up if any of you wanna use your smartphone when your are working out (for music and what not) check out www.tunebelt.com its the only place I found a case to put my PDA on my Arm that works, if anyone knows of another let me know.

  4. Do we think that a married officer banging another chick is inappropriate? Hmmm. Considering you can get an Article 15 for adultury, yes.

Do you really need to ask that in an open forum like this? What did you think the answer was?

Yes I did think it was necesary to ask since I didnt know, sorry for not having all the answers. Also I w

s asking because everyone automatically went to the default of it being a Enlisted/Officer situation so I figured Id ask. thanks for making me feel stupid though

  5. Ive seen those cockpit posters that take up the whole wall, anyone know where I can get one that is normal size, or possibly one small enough to fit in my cubicle. Plane dont matter, itd be awesome if it was a 130 or A-10, but if I cna only find a 172, I dont really care

  6. Actually on the bottle its spelled Liqueuer, I did a little playing around with google, found this, albeit this is not at all a rock solid source, but here it is.. http://crazywriter84.blogspot.com/2008/04/...-vs-liquor.html

A liqueur is a sweet alcoholic beverage, often flavored with fruits, herbs, spices, flowers, seeds, roots, plants, barks, and sometimes cream. Basically, it is infused with something, or has sugar added. Liqueurs are not usually aged for long periods, but may have resting periods during their production to allow flavors to marry.

Liqueurs include: Crème de Cacao, Godiva Dark Chocolate, Kahlúa, Baileys Irish Cream, Crème de menthe, 99 Bananas, Limoncello, Grand Marnier, Midori, Triple sec, Sambuca, Amaretto, Frangelico.

Liquor is most often referred to as a spirit. A spirit is a distilled, alcoholic beverage made from a fermented mash of various ingredients. The distinction between liqueur and spirits is not always simple, especially since many spirits are available in a flavored form today. Flavored spirits, however, are not prepared by infusion. Their added flavors are just... added. Whiskies, Vodka, Gin, Rum are examples.

So that's the basics. A liqueur is sweet and has added flavor. A liquor usually isn't.

  7. I love the J-Weed as much as the next guy, but anyone think doing this whole youtube, with the guys shadow thing and all a bit on the gay side. If its just me Ill shut up and color as you all say.. but just my thoughts, before they launched the site, Jeremiah Weed himself friended me on youtube because of my videos I have up of the DG Tommy rocker show.. so I got a sneak peek I guess you could say.. Cool that they are trying to make it more well known.

Any of you think it might take away some of the mystique-ness (is that a word) of it, being that its such a cult following on it, I also wonder if the economics of it will work out, lets say they make this big push and it fails, might it cause them to discontinue making it?

  8. I could of sworn we had a thread solely dedicated to naming planes in them, but no luck.

This popped up on a website I frequent, and I was wondering if anyone knows what it is, the confusing this is it looks like it has wings on it.

  9. From the same webpage you linked the photo from...

I actually saw this in another thread on another forum so I just coppied the img from that post and dropped it in here.. didnt even think to look at the site it came from ( I did remove part of the adress to try and see if it lead to another page about it, btu it gave me a 404 error)

  10. Here is word for word what is on Page 5 of the AF AETC Form 56 (I got it from Air Force Official website as well as downloaded Puredge viewer, I will pm Baseops.net to see about uploading the pages directly to this post.

    "INSTRUCTIONS: Use the quality-point system
    (A+, A, A- =4, B+, B, B- =3, C+, C, C-=2, D+, D, D- =1, and F=0)
. Using AR 36-2305, Educational Classification and Coding Procedures, convert quarter hours to semester hours (one quarter hour equals two thirds of one semester hour). Include credit hours and quality points for all courses taken where a grade was received. For incompletes, use an F as the grade awarded. If courses were retaken, figure both into the average.
Do not include credit hours or quality points for withdrawals, courses that were audited, or pass-fail
. List each college or university separately. (You must list all/colleges and universities you have attended in Column (a).) Total Columns (b) and ©, then, divide the total of (b) by the total of © to determine the cumulative GPA. For AFRS applicants only: For graduate and above course work or degrees, list name of institution, type of program (i.e., MS, MBA, PhD...) and cumulative institution GPA on page 7, Continuation Sheet."

    (a) Name of College

    (b) Total Quality Points

    © Total Credit Hours

As well here is an attachment I have received directly form the education office at Macdill AFB

    Greetings,

I have attached a GPA work sheet. Please get with your AF Officer Recruiter or AFROTC Unit for further information in completing your AF Form 56.

    V/r

    *Name Removed

I hope this has helped out with people whose heads are spinning.. it appears to dispel some things here, (one being my primary worry) that once your degree has been earned the AF no longer will count any other classes taken.

Hope my files help some people out.

  11. Little late as well, but here in Tampa the Lightning (Hockey) have 2 free tickets every home game with Mil ID (retired, Dep) anything.

FYI, check into things a bit more this special is actually run by a local country radio station (WQYK) called hometown heroes, and its actually the radio station payign for the tickets.

As well every season the Devil Rays have a military apprecciation night, and its decent tickets, as well I think every game its half off admission price (I might be wrong)

  12. Myspace angles my ass shes hot..

She said there are some17 pilots at Charleston that put beauty pageant queens to shame.. this true?

P.S. watching American Idol is :rainbow: except in instance to laugh at the auditioning people making morons of themselves (the people that obviously just want to get on tv not the people honestly trying )

  13. The public flogging is obviously deserved, but was it necessary to make everyone else gather and quote the Airman's Creed? How is that teaching them more than watching the guy get his ass chewed? Just seems kind of :rainbow: to have a bunch of dudes out there chanting like a bunch of morons while this dude is being yelled at.

IMO This kind of falls along the lines of when you screw up everyone pays.. reminds of the lacrosse team back in high school.. we were let out early for a 3 day weekend from school but he told us we had practice that day our star players decided to leave school when it was let out. The day abckto school that practice.. he made the players sit on the bench while the rest of the group ran laps the whole time

  14. Jsut got done telling her that info, she was glad to hear it, and I found out it wasnt her recruiter saying she couldnt retest it was actually MEPS that said that, and so it is possible they were just saying that she could retest the same day

Hmm just rereading that oyu say requires H1 w/o a waiver so even if seh gets a waiver she cant be a enlisted Aircrew? also the score she got (15 in every categorey besides 6000), how far was she from a H1 level?.

  15. Well, other than calling bulls*** on not letting her retest, there is nothing I can find that precludes her from accomplishing a new hearing test. What if she'd realized later that she had a cold or been exposed to loud noise within the previous 40 hours? Those two examples should be reason enough to demand a retest. However, you could also ask the medical guys to point where in 48-123 (the bible reg of medical exams) she is not allowed to retest. Then politely ask for her to be rescheduled.

Recommendations: have her wear hearing plugs (the little foam ones work fine) the day and night prior to the test. Sometimes that's enough to make a dramatic difference - even wind noise from a car window can affect hearing. However, if the retest is the same, she'd have to get an audiology work up (probably on her own dime) to show no evidence of an underling condition that may cause the high result. I'm assuming you meant the 6000 mHz (not 600), which is the highest frequency tested. This is also often the one freq that shows early noise-related hearing loss. As long as there's no other medical condition, and the hearing loss is only in one freq (and not "asymmetric" as defined by two freq loss difference), waiver chances are good. She falls under IFC III standards, which does require an H1 profile w/out a waiver.

Thanks man., this will be great news for her, and ill tell her about the earplugs thing, thats an awesome idea, and I can definitely see the logic on how it would work. Yeah I was confused about the no retest as well.. becaue I read on this thread or another one the guy that started it retested like 5 times.. I will pass this stuff along to her, thanks alot for your help! If a waiver is necessary, how would I tell ehr to start the process, if the recruiter is unwilling to even let her retest, I can only imagine hes not gonna want to start work on a waiver..

Where can I get a copy of this 48-123 form?

  16. Digging up this post.. Again I have another friend now interested in the service, she has decided to go enlisted, she wanted to go enlisted aircrew. I am uncertain what the specs are on Hearing for Enlisted aircrew, as well she wasnt aware of what her "H" level was all they said was she failed the hearing test, I offered to check into it for her if she can do anything. Here is what she told me.

    600 mhz = 60

    rest were below 15

Reading the other posts that sounds a bit low..Is she SOL on a waiver, or can she retest? Thanks in advance.

Edit: She has confirmed she is an H2 and her problem lies in that they are not letting her retest, is there policies or procedures preventing her from retesting, or is there a direction you all could point me to so I coudl track the info down, I have no idea where to start besides this board.

  17. This is awesome news, Ill have to pass it along we were stuck in Atlanta a few christmas's back for about 12 hours, and the whole airport was down, I guess the only thing cool about hanging out at the Airtran terminal was I got to see "Animal" 1/2 of the wrestling tag team from the legion of doom if any of you were into wrestling back in the day, would of been nice to know about this USO thing, I too only thought their main thing was morale support in the form of sending celebrities to visit troops

  18. Been doing some reading up tonight (I was bored) I got on the topic of combat knives (was looking up info on straight razors).. and after dredging throuhg what seemed like a long commercial or the USMc Ka-Bar I was wondering if USAF Aircrew still is issued a knife when they go through training, or is that a thing of the past, are you even authorized to have a knife on you, if not issue is it up to your preference or is there any regs on it? what type of knife is it if it is issued? some sites claimed to have the "US Aircrew issue knife" but I coudlnt find any validation if this was just a selling gimmick, or it was true. Further on the subject I heard back as recent as the korean war, that all aircrew also had a pistol when they flew to, is that true.

    Thanks in advance
