I was in the second ever class of IPT at Peachtree. There were a significant amount of growing pains associated with IPT. Those should be ironed out by the time you get to where you’re going. IPT is good for bonding with your class, and getting your hands warm. There is some negative transfer with the G1000 and the legacy instruments of the T-6. Checklist usage at civilian flight schools is much more lax than in a military environment. IPT was cool. I got my Multi and instrument out of it for free.99. Where you go is luck of the draw. You can take strategic leave when you get to CAFB to align yourself with a IPT location you desire. But even then it’s not a guarantee as they fill classes as you arrive. You may get back from leave and the class you’re trying to get into is already full. It’s a little chaotic with casuals down here. Lots and lots of first assignment LT’s are waiting to start training.
