2026 ACTIVE DUTY UFT BOARD
If anyone is curious I found this link that spells out all of what is done at MFS. Looks like it'll be a full day unless you have additional testing that needs to be done which can stretch it out to two. Looks like 5% of MFS has issues with only rare cases being a DQ with no waiver option https://www.afrl.af.mil/About-Us/Fact-Sheets/Fact-Sheet-Display/Article/2336839/usafsam-fci-medical-flight-screening

2026 ACTIVE DUTY UFT BOARD
I think this is one of the drawbacks with IPT. Currently stationed in San Antonio with a wife and kid and reached out to them asking if I could get San Marcos for IPT. Talked with someone who got picked up last year and they told me that the board was able to accommodate an IPT request for family reasons. Plan on moving them out to the UPT base post IPT and just eating the cost to move the rest of our stuff. Either way it sucks because you have to PCS to a UPT base prior to IPT and then lose BAH at your current location. To me it’s worth it though to keep them in place. I always thought it was a PCS to your FTU unless they changed that?

2026 ACTIVE DUTY UFT BOARD
Damn man those are great scores… sorry to hear. I read on another year’s thread that someone from the board will reach out to you if you’re next in line should a spot come open. I don’t think they release the rankings but I’m sure they have alternates listed 1 - n. In terms of spots opening up, main example I heard of was a few selectees getting accepted into reserve flying units turning down their active duty spot. MFS-N could be another way but with most people having the stamped FC1 already a MFS-N failure seems pretty unlikely.

I think they would already have the number of allocations going into the board no? Idk how else they’d be able to place people in the different jobs and draw the cut line. I agree though I’m sure they’ll try to rush the list before the holidays. Makes sense there could be some delay, especially with all the civilian support AFPC has. We shall see!

Definitely a lot of truths in here. As a non-rated cyber guy, I can attest that it's common to have Lts in leadership roles (OIC and even Flt/CC) in massive squadrons. The Flight I was Flt/CC for had 120+ peeps to lead/manage and when I swapped to DO we had a Lt take it over. The point being, there is definitely an opportunity to show leadership at any rank, and non-rated AFSCs tend to have fewer officers in general, therefore giving more leadership opportunities. I do think there is some additional factors to consider when it comes to the diversifying of AFSCs. I'm sure they factor in how many people they are taking from each career field and may have additional restrictions beyond the overall number of pilot slots for the year. Career Field Management is tricky, and there's for sure a lot of behind-the-scenes work we don't see. Anyway, our fates have been decided! Who's going to go to the rumor mill to find out how many slots they had this year?

I think it could be that they potentially weigh the letter of rec heavier as well in some cases. I’ve heard of people with lower scores getting picked up and they had Generals signing off vouching for leadership. That coupled with wanting to diversify from different career fields and ranks could maybe be some of the reasons but who really knows, just a best guess.

Typically it’s whatever is loaded into PRDA I believe which would be after you sign it and it’s input by CSS. They let me email direct since I rushed it through my group and had all the signatures. It was my Flt/CC one so really wanted it included. It does suck that all Capt OPBs close 31 Aug and with board date shifted earlier I feel like you have to really push on your leadership to get it done in time for the board.

AFPC has always been great with this board! They helped me get my most recent OPB with a solid strat submitted and added to my file this week. Very on top of everything. I wouldn’t worry too much about strats within your org. Obviously it gives you points but they pull a lot of additional info for your file, so if you’re a strong performer it’ll show, even if your Group/Wing had their own rating criteria. Big week next week! Good luck all!

Yeah I did, and also had my letter of rec from a retired O-6 that I did all of my flight training with (probs a big misstep since they want to see someone from your chain of command to vouch for leadership). I will say that FY23 was pretty competitive with only 69 pilot slots. I wouldn’t be discouraged either way, if the rumors end up being true and we have solid numbers I think we all have a good shot at getting picked up.

Definitely agree it comes down to framing and how the board perceives the info. I made a lot of mistakes on my first application when it came to LOR and what I thought the board cared about. Glad I was able to get feedback for this go around. Thanks! It was definitely the focus for me after they gave very pointed feedback. Made writing the personal letter a ton easier, just reflecting on taking feedback/coming back stronger and more determined. There's almost always something you can say could be better, but as long as you're happy with how you presented yourself in your application, that's all that really matters!

2026 ACTIVE DUTY UFT BOARD
Is the waiting driving anyone else crazy? This is my second time applying (got CSO in FY23 board) so all or nothing this go around. Have 200+ hours w/PPL, 92 PCSM and 96 Pilot. Was a young LT last time and got feedback from the board to focus on leadership positions/growth. Got a masters, Flt/CC time and now an Ops O position within my unit with all the typical awards this go around. The leadership metric always drove me crazy because we have zero clue how much things are weighted within that 40% (OPBs, Strats, Letter of Rec, 215 statements etc). I’m sure there’s some delineation for how they weigh each item but who knows. Random thought but does anyone know where IPT locations will be? I’ve heard they’re literally all over the US. Anyways best of luck to everyone this go around. November can’t get here soon enough!

This is what i'm tracking too! I did not need an ETP so you can decline once with no penalty and try again.

Thanks man! Mind saying what your AFOQT/PCSM was? Also who wrote your letter or rec?

Does anyone know if you can put UPT only as a non rated applicant? Not sure if anyone else has done this

2023 Active Duty Flying Training Board
For anyone who is a CSO alternate I’ll be declining my spot next week to get a crack at the board one more time. Got some feedback today from my leadership that it really came down to the letter of rec/personal letter. Even though I had a PPL with a 96 afoqt and 92 PCSM, it seems like a lot of other people were in my shoes. It’s an honor to go through this process with you guys, especially as a non rated enterprise cyber dude. I’ve learned a lot and am definitely not quitting. Time to network and max the PCSM. Also something that might not be talked about as a tiebreaker could be someone’s first or second time applying to the board. Not sure if they would prioritize someone who has one last shot versus someone who will probs be back next year. Congrats to those who got it! And for those who didn’t, we have a new year upon us to get after it.

Appreciate that man that’s awesome you’re in the F-15! Definitely going to think on it. Might decline and try again next year but who knows. That’s crazy to me you didn’t get it but we’ll have our moment one day.
