  1. Submitted DTS voucher. Hotel receipt should have been placed under substantiated documents instead of expense receipts. Voucher is corrected in 3 mins and signed by me. SSgt nuts who deals with DTS goes home and this was around 1330. Really? Are DTS reps not allowed to simply move a document?

That’s funny. I usually get one or two each year about the bonus. From mypers or the CCE.

What if we started treating those emails like scammers or those lottery winner emails? You should respond to the emails and toy with AFPC emotions. I'll sign if you make it say...$40K. Ultimate troll.

I thought it was ok. Some pretty good shots, especially the B-1 with Vegas backdrop.

But running it past some current and qual’d dudes next time will prevent lines like “strapping on our nation’s business.”

You have something against "strapping it on?" Oh wait...

    Your CC sounds  very uneducated

you should be worried if you care... you are on the fringe with a P.    Not doing ACSC almost says do not promote

The sad part is I don't think I'm on the fringe. I don't feel like I want it as much as Pawnman and he would deserve to be promoted more than me. All I ever wanted as a kid was to be in the NBA or a pilot.

My CC means well, so I have to give her some credit right? Somehow she knew before everyone else that she got promoted to Lt Col. Maybe she was told something about this board because they no $h@t met right down the street (optimistic).

Dudes like you in this forum help keep me grounded. I'm not expecting anything from the AF come release day. I'll take a shot of Korean soju regardless of the outcome for the fellas who make O-5! And another shot for not doing ACSC!

  5. The GP/CD asked about an ECD. Is that a support term? In my 18 years I have never been asked for an ECD. We always say ETIC in ops world. I was like he can't be serious and ECD is some made up acronym to rival ETIC right?

Don't you need pilots too or your plan will simply fall apart? We have far more lethal weapons and added more mechanics. But where are your additional pilots and will those mechanics stick around in a few years?

So I did ACSC via correspondence. A few years later I decided to do the OLMP (already had a Masters, but it was free so why not?). Won an award with my research paper (my name is on a plaque at a school I have never set foot in) and was a sitting DO in a non-flying SQ and still got passed over.

YMMV, but, I think it’s really about how much your leadership likes you and is willing to go to bat for you. I say do ACSC if it interests you. If it doesn't, then don’t. It won’t be the thing that tips your promotability one way or the other. Your records did that years ago.

This thread has gotten really interesting. There is supposed to be less emphasis on ACSC. You are supposed to go when the AF wants you to go. In a sense, you don't determine that time is what I was told. That is the mentorship nugget that was passed down to me yesterday from my CC. This intel could be the equivalent of the weapons of mass destruction we never found in Iraq.

Just curious, what kind of DO position were you occupying?

A bud from AFROTC is a T-38 IP in Hell Rio. He was shocked I had to go in on a Saturday as a DO. I was like yeah, I go in to lead by example because my people have to give up their Saturday. I told him we do graduate 39K-40K trainees a year. Not the same as UPT.

Man...I sure hope as many '05 year group dudes skipped ACSC as this forum seems to imply.  Because like I already said - I want to get promoted.  I don't have an airline job waiting for me.  I took the bonus, so I'm here until I retire.  And I'd prefer if the Air Force didn't have the option to decline continuation and make me pay back $100K when they kick me out.

You could be in for a shock. Boss told me don't worry about ACSC or receiving a "P." I'm not worried at all to be honest. Everything happens for a reason.

It would just suck for the people who did complete ACSC, if the board actually promoted the personnel who didn't do it. I just became a DO of a non-flying squadron. Not sure how the board will view my record as a sitting DO. I PCS'd just in time to have my duty title updated on my SURF.

We ops checked the leather jacket and OCPs today.  It looks even worse than you could imagine.

I will self report to SAPR for this post in the morning gang. I can only imagine how to make the OCPs and leather jacket actually look good together:

My favorite part about the Army “developing” the OCP pattern is how they stole it from the copyrighted Multicam design, but they’re the government so they do what they want.

People might call the Marines jarheads, but those SOBs are pretty smart. How in the hell did they patent their uniform and tell everyone else to go kick rocks if you try to use it? They got the uniform right the first time and I'm 100% confident their uniforms can take a beating in the Europe or Asia.

Our CAG got ahold of Gen Kelly’s briefing for the upcoming CORONA prep. He is recommending new LAF categories breaking out ops/support/acquisition. There is also a push for shorter OPRs with both the rarer and additional rarer ranking performance on a 1-7 scale. He is not recommending static closeout dates.

Who knows what will be approved and when but this seems like a step in the right direction.

My CC was saying ACSC shouldn't be a factor for Lt Col. Ironically, one of her mentors is Gen Kelly.

She told me if our colonel doesn't get her an assignment to where she wants next, a phone call will be made to Gen Kelly. I was like damn, she has star power like that eh?

I’ve worn literally every flavor of flight suit from the original Army two piece of early Iraq, high speed Crye two-pieces, and even an orange one piece that was a ‘SAR helo’ suit.

I’ve recently gone back to wearing the one piece bag because nothing is as comfortable as a properly broken in one piece bag.

And it’s really not that hard to take off a one piece to take a dump, and I’m a pretty big dude.

So you get butt @$$ naked in the $hitter just to go #2? Red is that you?

Millennials need their @$$es wiped for them since an app isn't readily available yet. Thus, we need new flight suits.

It's not about the color of the oak leaves.  It's about the extra $5k a year in retirement pay.

Do you my man! I am not mad at you bro.

But as I wait to retire without having completed any form of ACSC, I be like:

I get what you are saying.... but i don’t think it’s because we think ACSC (or trying) is uncool....    I think the system is broken....and people who don’t get promoted sometimes are better than some that are promoted.

We do like to complain as a whole

We have some damn good flyers that are really intelligent and great leaders. Smart enough to know you don't have to do ACSC, yet you can become a civilian and thrive. People will actually listen to your ideas in the civilian job sector and not focus on rudimentary s$#@t like uniforms.

Our personalities and ability to lead gives us a great advantage over civilians. Everyone has value, don't let someone make you think a silver oak leaf matters in the end. We will all retire someday. Once you retire, you will be just like every other civilian and that silver oak leaf or title of Lt Col won't matter to anyone but you. You will still have to wait in line like everyone else at the Commissary, Walmart, and Target. No rock star parking for you.

Question for everyone smarter than me:

I am under my last year of AD service. I have 60 days saved, expecting 20 more between beginning of FY20 and 1 June 2020, then add 20 PTDY. I plan on taking the 20 days PTDY spread out in 3 day chunks mid-week, every other week just because.

My question is for the remaining 80 day period. If 1June 2020 (retirement date) is on a Monday, do I have to take leave the Sat and Sun prior, or can I just return from leave on Friday and use those 2 extra days somewhere else?

    TIA

I'm thinking about filling out the eligibility form on VMPF or MyPers in January 2020. I will propose a January 2021 retirement date. Did you have any troubles with the eligibility process? Everyone said do it at least a year out.

Air Force Experimenting with Two-Piece Flight Suits for Pilots, Aircrew

    https://www.military.com/daily-news/2019/04/19/air-force-experimenting-two-piece-flight-suits-pilots-aircrew.html

We don't need you to experiment with flight suits. Pilots are not telling you to fix our flight suits in order to keep us from walking.

Focus on quality of life, pay, housing, and the next adversary. People act like there isn't more important $&#t to focus on then uniforms.

When things get tough, switch the uniform. Standard Air Force thinking.

I didn’t even see my PRF until April. Not sure if that’s because I had PCSd and the execs had overlooked sending it to me, or if the entire process was delayed.

I feel like a douchebag because I kind of chuckled at my CC. My boss thinks I will be promoted. She didn't see my final PRF, but asked would I still retire when (not if) promoted. I told her I'm pulling chocks. Not sure if the Wing King or someone at NAF suggested they remove the awards line in my PRF and insert killing more bad guys of an HVI level.

Wing King asked me when I would be doing ACSC. I reluctantly shook my head at him. He said it's okay, you can tell me the truth. I told him I'm not doing it. It felt damn good to say it. Like you are walking out on top.

With no ACSC, I expected a "P" and that is what I received in my small Wing. I'm the only FGO going up for promotion. If they promote a guy with a clean record, DG, and some #1 CGO/FGO strats, then I want the board to report for mandatory (DDRP) drug testing.

Anymore intel on what took them so long?
