Listening to a speech online is NO DIFFERENT than listening to it on the internet

I wouldn't get your hopes up. Know someone who had less than a week left on their UPT ADSC and was denied and another with less than 2 months on their UPT ADSC that was denied. Both applied on the first day of the application window and found out last week.

No double dipping PME is a great initiative, and an idea that I'm sure we've all had. It definitely passes the common sense check. But, there has to be a better way of doing it than saying you can't knock out correspondence until after your 3rd look. Especially now that the trend is that no candidates are going in-res. OK - if you are a select, you are ineligible for correspondence - done. Makes perfect sense. Candidates, though, should still be allowed to accomplish as their schedule fits. Personal story: I have 0 (zero!) desire to spend a year of my remaining 6 at Maxwell or any other non-flying gig. I don't want to go in-res, but I'd like to make O-5. Given that, I know that correspondence is a requirement for me. But I want to do it on my own terms/timeline. I like the idea that I have several years to get it done (shit, I've already been enrolled for more than a year and have only done 4/12 "classes") and I wouldn't want to have to wait until after third look non-select to get started, when we all know I'm not going to school. I can't be the only one...
Like I said, great initiative, but there has to be a better way to execute.
I hope you haven't already pinned on Major. What kind of example are you setting not having it done by now? /sarcasm
On a serious note, hopefully the 1 candidate per DT was an anomaly last year. Agree that if it is going to stay that way for the near future, then maybe candidates should be the only ones allowed to enroll upon release of the promotion results. The time limit for the new ACSC in-correspondence is 5 years, correct? Like you said, it allows you to work on it at your own pace and get it done before the IPZ board since you know there is no real chance of going in-residence.
-
I think the bold part is the key. You will know by the time your IPZ board rolls around if you've attended IDE/SDE. So, don't do it in correspondence until after you've had your looks.
This actually makes sense if it works out this way. The third look for IDE is the same year that the 2 BPZ for O-5 meets. If a person doesn't get picked up in their third look for school, then they have a year and a half to knock out IDE before their IPZ board. If they legitimately don't allow people to enroll in correspondence it until after their third look, it will be reliant upon job performance to get them to school. Enough of this "Even though you are a select, you need to knock out IDE in correspondence in order to attend in residence." So sick of the current mindset of some leadership.
I would love to see this actually come into play, but I think the biggest problem is going to be changing the mindset of those in charge. Big Blue is a machine that just keeps churning along and it is difficult to change it's course. People get stuck in this "I had to do it in correspondence in order to attend in residence", or "Well, that is the way we've always done it." Hopefully he can get this right.

Wait.. What? There's an ADSC for a 4 week course?
-9-
Doesn't IP school have an ADSC? That course is usually only a month or two.
-
So where does it say that they are "blanket returning" applications made by 11X's with ADSC's still left? I read that to say you can leave your application in and we will review it on 3 Mar 14, but if you aren't sure you really want to VSP because you are not sure you will be on the RIF or not then feel free to withdraw your VSP application. What am I missing?
It is from the AFPC Field Message org box that was sent out via email. It's the exact same one ThreeHoler quoted a page or two back.
-
Wait. Instead of just holding onto the 11X and 12X apps until they come out with the legit criteria; they are going to reject all those that have a flying training and make everyone reapply once the new PSDM is released. WTF?
-
And where is this individual in your chain of command?
Even better question: Where is this individual in the VSP process? I don't think the AMC/A3 has any say in waiving ADSCs since that is an A1 function. Correct me if I'm wrong.
-
It's only on the Sq/CC section....so far 1 guy I know has, same base different squadron...haven't been able to find anyone else in that squadron to see if its a blanket thing the CC was doing or if it was just for him.
Technically it is under the Unit Commander section which may or may not be a squadron commander. Either way, it surprises me that it isn't under the Wing Commander section.

anyone get the member is in excess box checked yes on their vsp app?
I doubt there are very many wing kings who will check "yes".

You have me beat. I'm at:
Referred to BPO
I just looked and "Referred to BPO" is what it says on the actual application. Referred to AFPC Voluntary Separation BPO is what it says in CMS. They appear to be the same thing.
-
You have me beat. I'm at:
Referred to BPO
Mine doesn't show that it was ever referred to BPO. That's weird.
-
Has anyone made it past this point or is this where it will sit until they approve/deny the apps? I can't remember from last time.
Referred to AFPC Voluntary Separation BPO

Still zero success applying. vMPF won't display the screen. For the last several days, I only get the error messages on vMPF as a warning, then when I proceed to Self Service Actions, Voluntary Sep, nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?
Also, I am working on my letters to the board(s). Who exactly do I send that/those to?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
FWIW, I am a 2004 11S; applying anyway because.. well you know why.
Make sure you have pop-up blockers disabled because it opens up the application in a separate window. Also, make sure you are using IE. I didn't have much luck with other browsers.

HOT****Just got off the phone with total force service again. Finally got some helpful info. She said that if you are eligible for the RIF than 13-130 is the ONLY PSDM that applies to you. 14-08 is only for those not eligible. 13-130 has no such statement about referencing 13-65 for ADSC waivers. It's back on! Now how do I find good health insurance under obamacare? Wife is pregnant and due after separation.
Ya right. Like they have enough foresight to make 2 completely separate PSDMs, one for those who are RIF eligible and one for those who are not. Don't give them that much credit as I have yet to see where they deserve it.
Anyone know how far the vsp apps go? Does it stop at AFPC or go the SECAF level? I would think that since it is categorized as a "SECAF early release program" That it would go to her level, but who knows?
Last time they were approved/denied at the AFPC level.

The more I think about this, the more pissed off I get.
How do they justify not waiving a single ######ing day of a 3650 day commitment? Even if an individual has 6 months left on their UPT commitment, they have served 95% of what they signed for and yet people are getting Palace Chase approved with over 4 years left on their ADSC ()...WHAT WHAT THE ######?!?!?!
This just absolutely blows my mind even though I know it really shouldn't.
-
Applied as well even though I have a UPT ADSC. Figured if they are going to waste our time with this BS, I can waste theirs.
-
Is it not just the one in the Voluntary Separation Module drop down? It states "Voluntary Separation Pay Ready Reserve Agreement".
Nope, the ones in the PSDMs have the caveat about being TERA eligible.
-
The way I understand it, it isn't first come first serve but it is. Say they are trying to cut 12 guys, if more than 12 apply in Feb then that career field/year group will no longer be eligible to apply in March.
From everything I've been told, this is a simple year group + AFSC + ADSC look....no records are brought into it at all.
If it is anything like TERA, it'll be year group + AFSC to determine eligibility and then the following:
1. No ADSC
2. ADSC/Bonus remaining (least to greatest)
3. Projected assignments
4. Commander's recommendation
This was directly from the DCO given last week but was for the TERA part. I would imagine it would be along the same lines for VSP, but who knows.
-
Just got off the phone with the Total Force Service Center and they said the application procedure under 14-08 was a misprint. They said to use the process in 13-130 and sent the following:
4. VSP Application Instructions: Access the vMPF via the AFPC Secure website. Select “Apply for Voluntary Separation”, and when prompted to “Select a Separation Provision”, select “SECAF Approved Early Separation Program”. Include “I am requesting to separate under the Voluntary Separation Pay (VSP) Program” in the remarks section. Refer to the PSD Guide for application procedures and instructions at https://mypers.af.mil , then under “FSS Resources” select “Program Guides” and then select “View PSD Guide Listing”, then “Separations”. The Officer Voluntary Separation application instructions are listed in Section E of the PSD Guide.

Just looked up my case number on myPers... disapproved for TERA. They didn't even bother to e-mail me or contact me... I had to look it up myself. "Your AFSC, grade, or Year Group/Years of Service is not eligible or has been removed from the eligibility list for TERA. This retirement case is closed." Looks like this is the VSP/RIF from a few years ago all over again. Hey Big Blue... thank you so very much for telling me a few days before Christmas that I am eligible for TERA, reconfirming that online once I asked and then having me show my cards to my boss only to ###### me over in the end!!! Hahaha... you sure got me with that one!!!
Hey Chang... tell me again all about the glut of 11M Field Graders out there that the AF flat out just doesn't need anymore! Apparently the E-2 and his 2 year old kid that is obviously running this shit show down at AFPC never got that memo!
WTFO? What commissioning year and airframe? Did you have any ADSCs?
-
It says "AFSC, grade or year group is not eligible or has been removed from eligibility"
I'm '98 12R. I thought the caveat about "all selectively continues officer are eligible..." Was my ace in the hole.
Oh well...can't blame me for manning problems big blue, I tried.
I wonder if all they did was look at the matrix and see red for your category and denied it. If so, that sucks.

I seriously doubt they care what date you created the application, but rather when it was submitted. Though I'm not sure if they want you to submit it to your CC on the 6th or for your senior rater to submit it on the 6th.
You can save it as many times as you want between now and the 6th. You'll see in the top right corner it updates it with a timestamp. They don't want you hitting "Finish" on page 10 until the 6th at 0000 CST. That will be the timestamp they go off of WRT whether you submitted in the application window. Granted, this is all based off of my memory from doing this 3 years ago, but I'd rather be safe than have my application kicked back for applying outside the window.

Well since you seem to think you are the expert on this entire process, why don't you tell us who does have the waiver authority. Easy for you to sit there and say something makes zero sense when you aren't willing to back it up with any proof that the person is wrong.
