  1. There's a boom at EGUN who didn't even have a performing role, he was the AV geek and even he couldn't stop talking about how "super" it was to be a part of TIB. I should have hooked him (sts) right there.
  2. First of all, don't have your heart set on getting a pilot slot, much less a fighter. That community is being drawn down dramatically. Apply to be an officer first, then a pilot, then a fighter pilot. Don't be the guy that cries when you don't get what you want. That being said, check out this site first: http://www.afoats.af.mil/ Lots of good info on various methods of commissioning. Your degree type will probably not have the same weight as your accomplishments while enlisted do. However if it's down to you with an engineering degree or another dude with a basket weaving degree, they would probably favor the engineering/technical degree. I just got picked up for OTS with a Pro Aero degree from ERAU. Very non-technical but apparently it was good enough. Generally UPT slots are given to USAFA first, then ROTC then OTS for whatever the first two can't fill. If UPT is your end goal, start working on a PPL now and get as many flight hours as you can. Go take the AFOQT and blow that shit out of the water. If the scores aren't so great the first time, you can take it a second time but don't screw it up, otherwise you'll need a waiver for your third attempt. If you're thinking about OTS, check out http://www.airforceots.com and search for answers to your many questions. Other than that, get as many XXXX of the Year/Quarter awards as you can and don't screw up! Talk to prior guys you work with, they'll be able to help you out as well. Good luck!

    Magic Jack

I'm stationed at Ramstein and just got a Magic Jack about a month ago. The thing works as advertised and very easy to setup. Not to mention it's free for the first year! The only downside I've found is that after I hang up from a phone call, my internet connection dies and I have to re-boot my router. Other than that, no complaints. Make sure if you're overseas you turn off the 911 function.
  4. I plan to be in Arlington pending Space-A out of ETAR. I think a lot of people from GFK will be trying to attend as well.
  5. Q: Why are Dr House and Alberto Puig so miserable? A: They both have a bad leg and a Repsol Honda in the garage.
  6. Another rider checking in. Here's my website: http://www.skinnyracer.com check it out, sign the guestbook. Currently on a 2008 R6 contending the 2009 European Speer Cup Championship. First round 5-7 Jun Magny Cours France. Couldn't be more anxious!
  7. That all sounds like Graz! His pet project in the Forks was turning a turbo from a semi into a jet engine. His idea of killing time while deployed was reading up the art of metallurgy. With his brain power and creative thinking, he was exactly where he needed to be in the AF, TPS.
  8. http://www.edwards.af.mil/news/story.asp?id=123150653 Graz was a a good friend of mine from 135s at Grand Forks. Amazingly talented pilot with a thirst for knowledge and life in general. He will be missed by all. Godspeed Graz.
  9. It's been tough goings out at EDW the past couple of months. First "Cools", and now this...
  10. Hey Toro, I see you're at ETAR as well. Did you get the latest spam in your inbox regarding the display of the little blue clocks in your window? And I quote "Please be aware that we have received information that Security Forces are ticketing vehicles in the BX and Commissary parking lots for not properly displaying their blue parking devices." For those of you that haven't been to Europe, some parking lots have time limits on how long you can park there. You set the dial with the time you got there so cops can see. Unfortunately, this has carried over on base and now they are writing tickets to anyone parked in the BX or Commissary parking lots without displaying the clock. Genius. Is there really that big of a problem that people are parking there for more than 2 hours? And more importantly, how do you spend more than two hours at the BX? But as the saying goes on Ramstein, "There isn't a parking problem on base, there's a walking problem." Unbelievable .
