  1. I think military pilots bitch more than any career that has ever existed
  2. Yet again, youtube comments on an aviation video did not fail to amuse.
  3. Just saw this article up on CNN.com Here's a good one... If/when pilots are walking down the aisles of airliners NOT flying and instead serving beverages and peanuts, just go ahead and kill me because that is a world I do not want to live in. http://www.cnn.com/2012/03/24/travel/autopilot-airlines/index.html?hpt=hp_c1
  4. Just came across this and figured this would be an appropriate thread to share it in... Can't be THAT difficult right?
  5. hahaha hilarious! I loved watching COT, they were awesome. I got saluted by a Major once while I was walking down the sidewalk, that was kinda funny haha. I thought it was funny that they had a maid service to clean their rooms every day and the yelling portion of the program was over in about 1 week... I just remembered another one. I was marching to the academic building and we walked past a Captain and Lt Col just staring at each other holding a salute in front of the dining facility. He was yelling "SIR! YOU HAVE TO DROP YOUR SALUTE AND THEN I CAN DROP MINE!!!" but the Lt Col was so scared he couldn't react so they held the salute for like 15 more awkward seconds while the Captain kept trying to explain how it works. One of them pissed me off though when I was changing the Flag Condition signs in all the buildings for weather. I was in the COT dorm building and a female LT was sitting at the CQ, she was talking to me asking me questions and she asked why she doesn't get to train with us because our "training looked more fun." Some Captain that was a lawyer said "He's just going to be a line officer, that's why they're in BOT (basic officer training) and we're in the professional careers of the Air Force." I wanted to punch that smug f***er in the face. So what class were you? I was in 10-06
  6. hahaha so true. I'll never forget the time at OTS when I was an OT and saluted a 1LT going through the medical/lawyer/chaplain version of OTS... 4 of us were marching and I was carrying a guidon, I saluted and gave her the greeting of the day. I got a guidon salute back (she wasn't carrying a guidon) from her with the response "Good afternoon... sirs."
  7. One of life's many quesions that can never be explained unfortunately.
  8. Hey I've got one more interested in purchasing as well.
  9. Here's a civilian pilot's take on the watch. And yes, dual time zone. http://www.timezone.com/library/comarticles/comarticles631681530107424115
  10. ugh that's tempting... I was just about to pull the trigger on a Breitling Aerospace too... Has anyone actually seen one of these in person? edit: I noticed this site http://ialreadyhaveawatch.com/watch-articles/omega/omega-speedmaster-professional-x-33/space-and-military-use/ and near the bottom they have some designs under "Military Pilot Program." Any idea if we could get one of the designs with our aircraft on it, I would be more inclined to get it with that on it.
  11. haha no kidding that's exactly what I'm looking for! I just hope I can find a group of guys that want to do that.... I definitely want to do the whole "Brolaggio" thing, my buddy in pilot training with me now said a bunch of his buddies out at Charleston just got a 6000+ sq ft. house on the water with like 4 or so LT's... If I can't find any KC-10 drivers, I wonder how I could find anyone else that would be down to do it (sts)...
  12. First, thanks for all of the responses guys, I really appreciate it. I'm heading out for the KC-10! Pretty excited. Hopefully I can find another single LT to room with because I'd really like to find a decent house w/ a garage.
  13. Bump. Anyone out here have any advice on where to live these days? I'm getting my first assignment out there and will be moving probably mid-late summer so I have some time to do research. Some background info, I'm single and will be a 1Lt when I get out there. I'm looking at renting (unless buying just absolutely makes more sense). Any "fun" areas that would be a good place for a young LT? Should I be looking for another pilot to split a place with?
  14. ENJJPT... 1 F16 1 F15E 1 T38 1 T6 1 C17 (Charleston) 1 KC10 (Travis) 1 U28 (Hurlburt) 2 B52 2 MC12 1 KC-135 (McConnell)
  15. Thread revival bc we'll be doing this for our graduation. My dad did it at his and he got his wings in the 80's, so it's not really that new.
  16. Ok, gotcha. That makes sense then.
  17. I didn't notice it mentioned when I scanned the thread, but I saw that all Majors and up have to wear wheel caps with service dress and I believe blues as well? (not 100% on the blues part, but I thought I read that...)
