  1. Hope this isn't too off topic, but is anyone here apart of, or very familiar with the 115th Fighter Wing in Madison, WI? If I remember correctly, one of the pilots there was a prior Army Helo pilot, and I'm trying to track down some very basic unit contact info for a Marine Helo friend who had questions regarding that transition (if I remembered that story correctly that is). Would appreciate a PM if anyone know's who I'm talking about, or maybe knows anyone else that had a similar helo to fixed wing jet Guard transition.
  2. I'm in the same boat here and need to hit the November board...I have a feeling just telling my recruiter or my unit that I heard this on baseops won't inspire confidence in not worrying about a fully signed off FC1 by November. So, where would the regulation on this be? Probably going to need that if this is true.
  3. I got a clarification call from them asking a question. Sounds like the calls will be made this week or next.
  4. I got the call from Jax 125th this evening, so yes trickling out.
  5. Anyone hear anything about board results from Georgia 76th? Interview notices from 125th?
  6. Interview invite calls for 76th FS went out today, congrats to those who got the call!
  7. I did some google'foo trying to decipher this and came up nil. Are you saying that RPA pilots can cross train to heavies and fighters, or are you saying it's the other way around, or did I just prove to the world why I failed reading comprehension 101?
  8. Any pro/con's of a guard C-130 vs a Reserve C-130? Pay wise? Lets assume you find a reserve unit who will let you bum as much as you want...will it be just like a guard unit it terms of pay?
  9. ^ I have yet to get through to them via phone or email to verify if package was received, so I'd be interested to know if that process has gotten that far. In other words, did you hear anything?
  10. Has anyone been able to get in touch with the 76th FS (A-10's) at Moody?
  11. In the guard applicant world, you need to treat every person you interact with, from the enlisted airman who gives you directions on base, to the Wing CC you bump into, as the person who 100% decides if you get hired or not, regardless of it being another unit/base or not. Why? Because you know how small the community is. Seriously...make a strongly negative impression on someone at one unit, and the other unit interviewing you just may hear about it. That being said, when a unit call's and says you didn't get it, be very very careful not to sound like they owe you justification. And above all else....be careful posting anything here that remotely resembles mocking them...they check this page, and the guy calling may put 2 & 2 together. Food for thought. Congrats A300!
  12. ^ Could be worse. Just find a Marine flight buddy and ask them to tell you some story's of what happens when Marines see massive delays/jams in flight training. Let's just say common sense is an uncommon virtue sometimes...
  13. ^ F-16 B-course slots for the guard are really taking a hit. Word I've heard multiple times from multiple people in-the-know, is that guard F-16 B-course slots for next 2 years are looking to be in the single digits nationwide... It's all about timing. So maybe a new cold war might help...
  14. If OP is still sifting for answers on this: If memory serves, Madison 115th FW has a former Army skid pilot who now fly's vipers. Come to think of it, with all the snow they get it might still be considered a skid squadron.... Would be worth calling there and asking if your still looking for answers. Yutt Yutt
  15. They return this week/today from being on the road, so I'd lean more towards next week.
  16. He means don't expect a pilot from the squadron to just happen across your post and get in touch with you like they're customer service reps. Sure it might work, but sometimes It's all about perception. Instead go the extra mile it takes to track down the contact number for the pilot section. http://www.airnav.com/airport/KACY One trick: Go to airnav, look up the airport/facility of said guard unit, and scroll down to additional remarks, and usually the base-ops number is listed. Go from there. Step One: airnav Step two: ? Step Three: Profit!
  17. Heard back from 167th today. No go for me, so I'm sure the rest should hear soon/by now.
  18. 167th Airlift interview (C-5 transitioning to C-17), Saturday March 1, 2014. 15 applicants, half from the unit and other half a mix of off-street and priors/other guard units. 5 on the board, think 1 loadmaster and 4 pilots from captain to LtCol., including chief pilot. Very easy atmosphere, they are all laid back and awesome, with great stories, didn't mind bringing you into some of their inside jokes, and generally just putting you at ease. The candidates were also all laid back and awesome guys. -Quickly tell us about your aviation experience/history -Tell us about a time you made a big mistake and how you handled it/what you got from it -What was one of the biggest moments in your career/biggest success? -quickly give me 11 x 12 -It's movie night at the squadron and you are tasked with bringing two movies, what movies do you bring? (Safety tip: Don't be the guy that says "Top Gun". Instead if you get a question like this, have fun with it, let it break the ice some) -Tell us about a pilot you absolutely hated flying with and why -Pick one word to describe you -Have you ever failed a checkride? -Was there ever a time you disagreed with a policy/rule and what did you do about it? -Have you ever had an emergency in the aircraft? How did you handle it? Those are the ones that stuck out. It was about a 25 minute interview. Awesome experience. Was not offered slot, heard most went to the unit applicants and maybe one off-the-street picked up. On to the next one.
  19. ^ 180th is pretty busy right now on a training detachment. That said, they were scrubbing packets last weekend and I'd assume close to having an interview list. Mid month perhaps? Speculation of course.
  20. Just got back from interviews with 167th Airlift in Martinsburg, WV. Awesome group of guys and great location near DC. I'm sure they are looking to interview/hire more as they are transitioning to the C-17, so give em a look if you haven't already. For the guys that interviewed there, it was awesome meeting you all. Be sure to share if you get the word. Best of luck.
  21. Any 167th AW (West VA) folks want to chime in on any of the above? I know they are also transitioning to the C-17 soon, will it be business as usual only with a different plane, or entirely different when the -17 arrives?
  22. ^ Just got my reject letter from the 114th. And I'm assuming the 107th has already notified interviewee's, otherwise I haven't heard from them yet.
  23. ^ Just found out too, notifications for the interviews went out last week. If you didn't hear from them, then that's that. Best luck on the next one gents.
  24. Yea, the 180th haven't even gotten the packages over to the board to sift through yet, but they should about next week with a decision on interviews mid Feb. Take that with a grain of salt though, it was 3rd party info from one of the recruiters and they're not really too sure themselves. Yoopflier, thought you didn't apply to the Baltimore 104th? I missed alot of boards too, I had to start checking all the squadron pages and calling to get gouge on some. Check out the 127th from Selfridge, 114th from Sioux Fall, and 124th from Boise if you haven't already.
