  1. The heart emoji for showing that someone has liked a post seems grossly out of place. Maybe swap that with something like a thumbs-up or plus sign? (Even a smiley face would be an improvement over the heart.)

While posting this reply using the iPhone app, I got this message when clicking on both the camera and picture icons:

    Photo Sharing

Your forum has disabled image sharing from this app.

Thanks for taking care of the board.

Fixed the gay ass heart problem... Working on the others. Confirm when you say "iphone app" you mean the Baseops App, not the generic Tapatalk App?

  2. It has come to my attention that some of our long time members accounts disappeared during the migration. I have a priority ticket in with the programmers to re-connect those accounts. Please bear with me as I get this straightened out. If your account went missing, please e-mail me the pertinent details to:

  3. A bro's situation:

I'm currently assigned OCONUS and I'm PCS'ing to another OCONUS location. The current location is command sponsored (Aviano), the other is remote (Korea). If I want to maximize my leave, what types can I put together to get the most leave before spending a year away from my family?

  4. I have the American Express Platinum Card. I highly recommend it if you go TDY a lot or do a lot of personal travel. They will waive the annual fee ($450) for active duty military just by simply filling out their online form:

    American Express SCRA

It has a ton of benefits. My favorite perk is free access to The Centurion Lounge. My wife and I were able to settle in and get some free food and drinks before flying to Venice from Vegas. Additionally, it earns rewards points that you can use for just about anything you can imagine, from purchases on Amazon to trading points with Hilton, Delta, or many other travel partners. Some more benefits:

    • Free Global Entry
    • $200 a year in statement credits for your choice of airline in-flight purchases (I chose Delta and got seat upgrades)
    • Free Boingo Wi-Fi
    • Immediate SPG Gold Status
    • Roadside assistance (up to 4 requests per year)
    • Airport lounge access for Centurion Lounge, Delta Lounge, Airspace Lounge, and free Priority Pass membership

    Link to the card:

it appears like they have reduced the annual fee to $175.

  5. Thanks! Great data. Hopefully I can get that functionality back, I used it all the time. Many of the improvements are things behind the scenes. For instance, there were a lot of security holes in the old software that are no longer an issue on this server and with the updated version of this software. Additionally, there was a lot of add-on junk that had been installed over the years that we're now free from.

  6. I hope it fixed the NIPR login issue. I'll be installing an SSL certificate over the next few days and hopefully using https on NIPR keeps them from griping.

Ads just got adjusted, it's a completely different setup than before, so it just transferred in the same ad code in a lot of different places. Now there should just be one on the right side.

  7. So based on that, it looks like you just have to paste the link to whatever you're looking at and it will auto-pull the video...

but super awesome pictures must be included using the "insert other media" link.

  8. Thanks for the data... These are probably all things I need to adjust settings for. One thing that this upgrade should have brought was the ability to upload images/videos directly, rather than having to link to an outside source every time... I'll look into each of these things.

  9. Friends,

If you do not have an e-mail account associated with your login, you may miss this bulk e-mail, so here are the contents of the e-mail. Please feel free to ask questions.

Hello! There will be another update to the Baseops Forums this Friday, 14 August. One of the major changes is that you must log in with your "display name". This is the name that shows up to the left on all of your posts. Your previously selected "user name" will no longer work. Please jot down your "display name" so that you can log in once the upgrade is complete. Additionally, there will be some associated down time with the forum app for iphone and android, and it may take a day or so, and possible require an update to the app. The new site will look a little different, but it should run much faster, and more importantly, it will be significantly safer and more secure than the current board. Thanks for all of your patience as we work through this upgrade process.

  10. Woot Woot! Got the other server fully functional... shoulda just left the site offline for another 24 hours. Oh well... I'm gonna run some extra tests just to be sure everything's groovy, and then shoot for a new upgrade date.

  11. Well, those turned into 12 MX hours.... And the new server is code 3. However, I'll be continuing to build out the new server in a test environment. Hopefully I'll be able to get a mirror of this site set up with the much needed security updates on the new server soon. Then we'll try this again.

  12. Remember a long time ago when I said I was about to make a major move to a faster server and there was going to be a major upgrade to the site software? Okay, it's happening now, for real. The forums WILL be offline for some amount of time (should be less than 12 hours). Knowing this, I'm sure AFPC will put out some vague memo about the next RIF/VSP/ACIP/etc in the next few hours. I plan to start at about 0400Z on 07 August 2015.
