  1. People complain about the USAF because right now pilots have numerous well paying alternatives.

If the economy goes to hell, the airlines furlough, etc, those same sideline sport b-tcher’s happily resubmit and beg for employment from big blue.

I’ve seen it multiple times in my 23 years.

Right now is unprecedented though. Pilots have a ton of well paying opportunities so it just really comes down to personal priorities (money/family/flying cool jets vs a fat bus etc) and life circumstances.

  2. The PMP engine "upgrade" was a self-inflicted wound by the AF.  They spent millions to marginally improve TOLD, only to give y'all an engine that isn't as reliable, and a get that flies an ASD of about .1 shorter than the A-model.  Millions... and probably over a billion... of dollars (along with more millions wasted on the new ejection seat) that could have been utilized by an Air Force to accelerate their procurement of an advanced trainer.  They've poured good money after bad rather than do what needed to be done by 2010.  The Video Data Transfer System (and new speed brake position indicator) was over $50,000,000 just by itself.  Are you shitting me?  At least they are "celebrating" their accomplishment.

And while formation landings may be unnecessary for the pointy-nosed types, don't conflate banning them as a safety issue.  For those of us outside of the UPT and fighter environment that find formation landings useful, we didn't appreciate ACC / USAF killing them for everyone.

Forgive me Huggy but should we keep teaching form landings for B-2/U-2 companion trainers or were you getting at something else?

For the record I have 1200+ hrs in the T-38 and form landings never scared me but in 4,000+ hours spread over 4 airframes, it was never once necessary.

  3. Is there a PSDM on this program, info card, pamphlet something?  I hit the jelly of the month club in three weeks, am planning on probably staying around another two years or so AD after that.  I'd be seriously interested in something like this if there was a Herk or SOF unit that would take/need me.

No, it’s still being worked out.

If interested start talking to a undermanned unit.

This won’t be for every airframe/every location.

It’ll be used to fill shortfalls in specific MDS and locations that need to retain experience. I’m betting FTUs and pilot training bases will see the most opportunities.

  4. The majority of Army airborne bubbas I know have spinal cords shaped like question marks and about 10-30% disability ratings if they're lucky, but a retired USNR CDR I also know has 100% disability due to a hysterectomy and sleep apnea!

I have a titanium brace in my vertebre that usaf med has tried to kill my ejection seat qual multiple times and led to significant lifestyle adjustments and pain management….20%

PTSD for an admin never outside the base SSGT I know…100%

    Kinda screwy.
