  1. You got my vote for best thread ever!
  2. Exactly how is 69 sexist? Really? If done right, 69 is a great time between two consenting adults. Please define sexist and tell me how the hell you categorize 69 with that? Perhaps you're just upset because you really lack insight about what i speak of; maybe you were deprived and picked on just a little too much. It's too bad for you. I wish booger-eaters had got more action so that we could focus on problem solving instead of blaming a number for sexual crimes. The $hit that gets you guys upset is truly mind boggling. No more feeding for you.
  3. Witness accounts said that the aircraft appeared to be "almost 45 degrees pointed up" at landing. I doubt it was that high, but my guess is slow airspeed, very high AOA resulting in a nasty landing with the tail hitting first. Another witness account said they hit and got airborne again. That would check. Aimpoint - airspeed!
  4. Wow! After so many pages and so many posts, your true colors come shining through. You obviously missed the point of the post that referenced what a leader would do. So yes, take the 15 year ADSC to the pentagon and tell them how brilliant it is. Or how you have insider knowledge about how well you know it will work. Let them know that with this brilliant idea the USAF will have guys by the balls AND you won't ever have to spend any money on those pesky ACP bonuses (or whatever the hell you changed the name to). I can see your OPR bullet now, commenting on how many millions you saved the USAF with this pure brilliance. You are well on your way to that first star. Your comments here continue to reach new lows; the stench that emanates from your posts reflects so poorly on the senior leadership you say you represent. You validate the gripes and complaints that dominate these forums. We appreciate the insight though. We really do. I'll take the high ground and keep it civil, but I see the spears inbound.
  5. Looks like SAPR day bullshit at home was time and money well spent! This thread just made my day. Hope I'm home by October to find an Octoberfest festival!
  6. Sadly, I see a 15 year ADSC in our future. Young guys entering the system would sign away their first born to get a chance to fly USAF jets. Ironically, look at where those guys end up 8, 10, or 15 years down the road. How many guys do we know that hit 20 and hope the USAF lets them stick it out another 10 years. Almost everyone I know past 15 years could pretty much tell you to the day when they hit that terminal leave date. "Leadership" is the ability to keep those young guys motivated so that 15 year ADSCs, stop loss, and 41 pages of ACP bitching is not necessary. Just a thought... Now back to trying to figure out how to change my screen name to not include the perverted, rape inducing, sexist evil number 69!
  7. Thanks for pointing that out. I totally forgot that I had a 69 in there. Guess I better change it. It's kind of funny that things like (sts), or 69, and Box or Head were part of my military indoctrination. I never used any of those prior to the military, and now those traditions are engrained into my mind. I sincerely don't know how to get rid of them without the full frontal o-6 lobotomy. The traditions and culture I was expected to adopt and that I have fully, is now not allowed. Ahhhh, you can't make this shit up!
  8. Our foresight as a military is horrible, but second only to congressional leadership abilities. Without knowing what the next big war will look like, it is so difficult to predict if a draft would be needed. The impact of mass women in the military could also result in unintended consequences. If the draft were implemented equally, don't waste your time asking for my daughter! As our society erodes and morals disappear, many of us find ourselves at odds with laws that are being written on our behalf by our elected leaders. For some reason, society has spent half of a century trying to make women feel as though their historical roles at home were of limited value. I would argue that the historical role of keeper of the home is of significant value. Society has pushed women into the workforce and picked fights surrounding equality on every front. How did we lose sight of the incredible value placed on holding down the fort and molding our future generations? Why has this been viewed as such a bad thing (To be PC, maybe the man stays home)? Still, the value in properly raising children and keeping the home has been forgotten about in our society. Folks wonder why society has slid straight down the shitter. I would argue that properly raising a family as a contribution to society is one of the most important jobs out there. I never fully realized this until my wife went back to work as a teacher and was exposed to how so much of society takes-on parenting (or lacks to). Back to equality, now we have woman that want to go do frontline combat. Great. Where in the history of mankind have we thought forcing women into combat was the way forward or a good idea? Why don't we go ahead and send our young children while we're at it? Makes perfect sense too right? Some GI Jane wants to go prove to her recently wed "partner" that she can be a Grunt too; have fun and let her do it. Most jobs in the military can be filled by either gender without any issue. If women want to serve in frontline combat or spec ops roles, and can meet the requirements exactly as written for men, more power to them. But, if some dipshit congressman wants to push for women in the draft because of societal pressures (it will happen), you can fukk off when you come asking for my wife or daughter to sign up.
  9. Shack! Liquid, We all know what ADSC stands for. The regulations for ADSC's cleverly keep growing to keep us all bound as indentured servants. We are an all-volunteer force partly because the regulations keep changing creatively trapping folks well beyond a reasonable service period. We keep entertaining and implementing force management measures (RIFs); why have we been so restrictive on Palace Chase for at least the last 5 years? Why do falsify and lie about the VSP? Guys here mention this because of the hints at a RIF next year. I thought that you and GC keep telling us how much folks are free to leave, and how Big Blue needs this to happen to clear out the glut of pilots. Help us help you. You'd be surprised how many folks are ready to explore new frontiers outside of the service. You say that Palace Chase would just be an easy way for the "disgruntled and under-performers" to leave. You sir are so mistaken. When the indentured servitude contracts expire, I am afraid that those under-performers are the ones that remain en mass. Not all, but the majority of your super-stars and real leaders will move along quietly. You are correct in that some of those do fit the disgruntled category. I think the percentage of those that are disgruntled is rapidly increasing in recent years. Maybe I am wrong about folks leaving in droves in the near future. Time will tell. Many folks that I know, and myself included, are badly needed in the communities we are in. I am not bragging or boasting, just pointing out that some of your disgruntled leaders are of extreme value and take their jobs or positions of leadership very seriously. I do. We work our hearts out to hack the mission and take care of those below us. We check the boxes because if we decide to stay, we want to be in a position to excel and fix problems that we bitch about here. We learned that on BODN from old crusty dudes and their invaluable wisdom. Almost all of us are certain that we will leave at the first opportunity. Some of us are overtly disgruntled and express this, most are not. I feel that General Welsh understands this but I am also afraid the problem is bigger than anyone can fix in the short term. He has quite a bit on his plate which is the result of cumulative leadership failures before him as well as on the civilian front. Leaders that do not recognize the "bleeding talent" problem will be unable to fix it, period dot. Kind of like an alcoholic that fails to recognize his addiction. I don't have a personal vested interest in whether or not folks stay or leave. Nor do I really care if the airlines start hiring (even though my personal research indicates the hiring will be more notable than any time since 2001). Unlike in the 90's, the longer ADSCs means that many folks will have more powerful resumes for careers well beyond those offered flying airplanes. Folks in this category have been exposed to combat for a decade, and have leadership experiences that will transcend historical data for separating pilots. My resume will be much stronger than if I had left at 8 years of aviation service. As a senior leader, I hope you will sincerely reflect upon the culture change and state of morale within your up-and-coming AF leaders. We will do fine on the outside, I promise. We will excel where ever we decide to go. If our country calls, we will stand by her side and help win our next war. But, we will not lay down and continue to rot in a culture we find ourselves disassociated with, or in a service we find ourselves at odds with. Believe it or not, the USAF really does need many of us. Nothing personal in these opinions. The USAF is a machine without emotion; we will take GC's thank you and move on to new opportunities. Internet blogs are a great place to bitch and attack folks you don't agree with. You've been attacked like many others. Like many others have commented, I am very glad to see senior leaders jump in here and expose the inner-workings of the AF and expose current AF beliefs. Your inputs here, while contested and attacked, are welcome and appreciated. A lot of what you say is valid although it may hurt some feelings here or there. Whether or not many of us stick around is to be determined, but I care about my country and the service that better focus on defending her when called upon. Even when I leave, I would love to know that eventually the AF unscrews itself and the Big Blue ship is righted. Please be humble enough to weed through the information posted here and pull out the nuggets of value that can help fix OUR problems in the USAF. Beer is empty and post is done.
  10. Ironically, our stats, take-rates, and policies are starting to mirror the trend the took hold in the mis to late 90's. How was retention then? The pendulum swings...
  11. GC/ Liquid, As a test bed, how about pushing through automatic approvals for Palace Chase to help reduce the glut of pilots? I hear that most of those application get rejected at the Pentagon. Most guys I know are waiting until they are inside of 1 year to even think about applying. There are many pilot waiting in line. Go back and check the statistics from the VSP fiasco- the numbers are telling. Of more than 15 guys in my squadron (at the time) eligible for the VSP, every single person EXCEPT for me applied! I had this conversation with the Sq/CC; he was in disbelief that so many folks wanted out ASAP and I had to explain some of the reasons why. I was waiting for a memo to be signed to allow me to apply for another program; apparently there was no chance of that MFR getting signed so in hindsight, I would've applied for VSP as well. The overall VSP program stats were alarming. The vast majority of applicants, well over 69%, were pilots. All were lied to and damn near all were disapproved. If retention is so great, open the door for Palace Chase. Offer another VSP and use integrity this time. I'm afraid that your perception of retention would be tested to the limit; while many guys may stay in because of the economy, the amount that will leave will be staggering. Time will tell. I have no vested interest if folks stay or leave but I am happy to wager a cold beer on it for entertainment value.
  12. GC, Someone else mentioned here that serving in the USAF must now be treated simply as a JOB. It is so sad, because the vast majority of every single one of us joined for such patriotic reasons that had little to do with self-serving interests. To this day, aside from being a number and being treated as such, I take exceptional pride in wearing the uniform and serving my country. Unfortunately, like many, that obligation is towards my country and not my employer. At a time where so few a expected to do so much, you would think leadership would do more than treat everyone as a number, and try to fix their problems by throwing some peanuts and cash at them when morale or retention is poor. Leadership is so much more than that at every fundamental level. I have had an amazing time doing things I am so proud of in the USAF. I've been a fighter pilot, a special ops pilot and have had the honor of leading at a time of war. I've saved guys and been responsible for executing missions of great proportion. I'm proud of my accomplishments and what I have done for my country. More likely than not, I will continue to serve my country in some manner, but it will not be in the USAF. This is a 99% certainty even though my boxes are checked and the future is bright. Sadly, this is the opinion of most folks in my position. At a time when resources are tight, the USAF really needs to keep the best and brightest. Somehow the USAF is able to recruit some of the best this country has to offer. I've had the privilege of working beside them. Why do we treat them in this manner while they rush the exits? The glut that you will be left with is not the force that you need while operating at the lowest manning levels since force inception. I am cautiously optimistic that Gen Welsh will continue to work things in the right direction; my fear is that it is too late to right this ship. The saga of this ACP are not helping things either, and it likely will have zero impact on -11F take rates. We'll see soon.
  13. Speaking of "no issues in spec ops, helos, .....", the recently released AFPC Stressed Career Fields specifically highlights 11S and 11H at the very top of the list. Having first hand experience in the 11S world, I can tell you the imbalance that GO's currently predict in the 11F world are even worse in the 11S world. We'll just wait for it to become blatantly obvious and let the knee jerk. I suppose the fix at that point will be to throw more $$$ and pretend like any someone cares. Hard to talk about core values when the institution will treat you like a number, abuse the complete shitt out of you and then cover it up with $$$- because that works every time right? Nice integrity but better yet, great way to lead by taking care of your people with $$$ as a substitute for quality leadership. Sadly I learned long ago two lessons that many folks never learn. First, your just a number. Second, timing is everything. AFPC reference from FY2013 2nd QTR: http://access.afpc.a...Z1pub1&_debug=0 You referenced it here and mentioned in a previous post that pilot retention is great. According to the AFPC A1 FY2012 Rated Retention Analysis Report, which I am sure you are briefed on, the rate of separations/ retirements for FIRST TIME ELIGIBLES was an astonishing 90%! The synopsis in the report actually reported "Rated officer losses in the active duty Air Force were significantly higher in FY12 than in the previous several years." As a matter of fact, according to the Table 5., Fighter pilot losses percentage wise were the second lowest behind UAV's. Spec Ops and CSAR were considerably higher. They summarize that total losses are minimal overall, but it fails to account for the severe decrease in experience levels that are actually measured and quantified in the report. Any thoughts to these numbers? (Reference is the same as above, just click on the appropriate report) As for the glut that you reference, I feel that you may be correct in many of your points. Unemotionally, you point out some hard truths. I have seen many guys that probably shouldn't be afforded the continued to 20 option and are a drain on officers below them (sts). I'll save that for comments in the PRF/ Promotion thread. So...Big Blue is needing -11F's bad, why? 11S and 11H not so much, why? Plans to kill some platforms and free up more bodies we can RIF? What about UPT first assignment UAV guys? They going to get a shot to go fast too? For that matter, what about the screwed over TAMI guys like myself? I've actually seen and heard a few guys making their way back? Unfortunately, even those are still talking about punching out.
  14. Wow. What a complete douchbag POS. Politics aside, Congresswoman Duckworth did a fantastic job putting that sack of $hit in the toilet. Worth watching every second.
  15. I have absolutely seen this. I PCSd and was a student when my PRF was written against good advice not to. Knowing the WG/CC and his hard-on for AADs, I was all but guaranteed a P if I was not AAD complete when the PRFs were written regardless of other criteria. I figured I would fare better as an unqualified student in a schoolhouse than as an EP under poor leadership. Got a DP as a student and finished the AAD before the board anyhow. If I would have not PCSd, I would have deployed a few more times, got a P, and not finished my AAD (because I was always deployed to non garden spots). This is the AF we live in gents- WTF!
  16. I agree! Which is why it was so ridiculous and comical when the USAF put out the extremely expensive plastic bag PT gear that I wouldn't buy off the clearance rack at a dollar general!
  17. Pretty sure I didn't brag about myself at all. I also quoted what you said, without completely taking everything out of context. I was piggy backing on comments already made which you apparently were not following. Your last paragraph is spot on! I didn't talk about my overall experience at SOS. As a matter of fact, I absolutely enjoyed it and the friends that I made as well. My focus wasn't about trying to better someone else or get my hands on the DG award. Drinking beer and learning from my flight was 99% of the value gained from that place. Most everything else was FOD. My points are still valid and if you are being honest here, you probably agree to one extent or another. For Christ sake, how many people there can't even pass the freaking USAF PT test? There is a reason they require you take one on the first day...because too many people can't even meet those minimums! I'm not one of these 100 mile running PT machines, but do you also think it is fine that a military officer can't pass a PT test? One of the biggest discriminators between the flight rankings was how many people in a flight struggled to run the 1.5 miles or achieve a passing PT test score! Really...
  18. In the name of good AF critiquing, I'll start by saying something positive. I agree with a lot of the points that you make. First hand, I have seen far too many "continued" parasites that really were bottom feeders and are just nursing off of the gov teet. While some dudes are the grey beards that provide the backbone to squadrons, others really are parasitic. Much of what you say about the promotion system is painfully valid, but like someone else stated, we like to sit on this forum and bitch a lot about things that are so vividly and cosmically screwed up in our service (as an extension of politics I suppose it only makes sense). While I agree with much of your assessment regarding many (but not all)of those that get passed over, it is your stance on those top choice selects that I argue. You start your posts by laying out your virtual pecker in an online dick measuring contest, whilst you have not confronted any other challenge asking you for credentials of some degree. You could be the college kid from the other forum trying to "pull rank" and bitch slap everyone on this forum that made you feel so small. I give credit and respect where it is due, and a random internet blog post doesn't make anyone an O-6 or above. Bullshit guidance composed in grammatically challenged posts makes me question the validity of your persona. Just saying... The best argument folks have made to your guidance and judgment is that immediate peers and supervisors are the best measure we have in regards to the value an aviator presents to the unit. If he or she can hack the mission, fly the MWS, mentor youngsters, run his shop, and save or take lives in combat, then I can almost guarantee you that person is also an Instructor or Evaluator. That decision is made by people that understand the value or lack of that the person offers to the unit. That fukking box alone to a rated aviator is paramount and should hands down trump any bullshit online PME or AAD. IP or EP should be the first and a required box before even looking at the others. When it is time to take lead and focus less on just tactical aspects, the PME and AAD MUST be relevant to the further development of that leader. Our priorities from the last Majors board seem to be much more in-line with my (and many here on Bops) thinking. For once in a long time, something became slightly less fukked up and credit is due. Since you have graded thousands of PRFs, your type of thinking is likely the kind of shit we have dealt with since circa 2007 that is a poison to the future of our AF.
  19. PME taught and showed me first hand how many military officers we have in the service that are quite frankly a damn embarrassment! We have far too many box checking shoe clerks (or bag wearers) that can't lead a fly to shit and lack everything in the confidence department. Being able to instill confidence in your team and run a crew to execute missions are what we do, regardless of AFSC or MWS. While half of the events at SOS are about as gay as two men fukkin, they do provide the ammo to watch limp dick box checkers fail because they cannot execute! I guess I did learn something during PME...
  20. These are the first two line from the introduction for the AFPC Officer Rated Retention Analysis Report FY2012. While I'm surprised the ACP take-rate was as high as it was (although still in decline), the retention numbers are funny as hell. In FY2012, the number of pilots analyzed to move out of the line flyer position was 1578. The bulk of those dudes are first time eligible to separate or retire. The remaining portion included guys promoting to O-6, death, grounding, etc. Of the 1578 pilots that were analyzed in this retention exercise, 1420 voted with their feet! Yes, if you do the math that comes in at just under 90% attrition. Great job USAF leadership. Any of the old timers find this eerily similar to the late 90's? AFPC link below: Pull up the Static charts for the report discussed. Stats are part of Table 5. http://access.afpc.a...Z1pub1&_debug=0
  21. PM sent Yep, lots of guys in that bo-at. Nothing but good deals coming for them and the morale keeps improving year after year. I was there for 4+ but have been gone for quite a while now. Have things gotten any better or worse over the last year and a half? (I think I know the answer here) I'll post a thought provoking link in a minute showing some scary data on what AFPC knows about what pilots think of the USAF right now. Most of these posts sum it up perfectly! Exactly. I came in as an older guy and was certain that I was going to serve the full 20+. This was a dream come true that I sacrificed everything for to make happen. There was so much pride in living out a dream come true. Hard work was rewarded... then came TAMI and everything became much more clear. I've worked with some of the best and brightest in America; the USAF is full of incredible dudes of a caliber so far above the norm in society today. Unfortunately, the military is run in such an inept and almost comical manner it results in these same great dudes getting bent over in frequent intervals. I'm sick of getting fukked and watching my bros get fukked. It's like a monkey fukking a football...and we're the football fellas. Spot on! Be careful, I've seen first hand the next wave of 365's trickling down hill. That might be a tough 8 years. To try to make one comment relevant to the ACP discussion- I would stay far away from that shit if and when they ever release it. The value of not being an indentured servant FAR OUTWEIGHS the value of $25k pretax/ yr. Maybe the list of the 365's to Asscrackistan is full because they are about to drop and get signed ACP's in return.
  22. I agree, that's pretty sick. I can't believe she is charged with a crime though. And how is this any less "Unnatural or perverted" than homosexual man on man love? If gay love is the new norm in our immoral society, you should be able to marry and fuk a damn chicken if you so desire.
  23. Tami was a dirty little whore that ######ed me over; there is not a day goes by I don't curse that bitch. Don't get me wrong. When I joined (OTS as well), you couldn't have found a more positive, I'm here for 20 type of a dude. Here we are 10 years later and you can reread my post to see where I'm at. Granted, I took it in stride basically following the mantra of "blossom where your planted" crap. I was optimistic that I would crawl out of the other side like Andy Dufrain; unfortunately our "pipe of shit" has no exit except to punch the hell out ASAP. I didn't go fly UAV shit. I ended up in airplanes, upgraded through evaluator, and am now an IP in another MWS. Being optimistic, having the best attitude, and working my ass off has helped me out a lot but the shit keeps flowing from Big Blue. Just for perspective, I have a friend from OTS (TAMId together) that is paroled from UAV hell and is back in F-16's (yeah, it's happened once or twice only). He is sharp dude with excellent potential yet he regrets being a school select and being back in the jet (vice UPT or some other easier to find job in the guard). He wants the ###### out too! As a matter of fact, I don't know a single person even thinking about staying. Not one. You made the right choice with the Reserves; I chose wrong.
  24. I say the metric shit ton of damn UAV's are the answer to double digit SAMS! Launch the whole fleet!
