  1. Anybody know if you can use SCRA on your spouse's student loans to cap them at 6% as well? We were married before I entered active duty but the loans were taken out in her name well before we were ever married.
  2. I'm travelling TDY enroute on my PCS. I have dependents authorized on my orders and planned to stay in a TLF for the duration of my TDY. However, I have pets and the base i'm going TDY does not have any pet friendly TLFs available. They say that having pets does not warrant a non-a letter so I will have to kennel them for the entire duration of my 3 month TDY. Anybody heard of a reg covering this aspect of a non-a letter? Obviously, I do not want to kennel my dogs for 3 months straight. Is my next best option to decline government quarters and get a pet friendly apartment at the TLF rate?
  3. That is generally not true from what I have seen. Some dudes get lucky and only have a 6 week wait but that is not typical. Myself and many others had a 6 month wait before active duty. As for when you finally start UPT it completely varies but is based on the backlog when you get to your base.
  4. I am just finishing up here now. We didn't get paid until the 15th of June and most of us had been here since the 4th. The $1300 should be enough to last you but I would definitely have a credit card as back up and definitely take the advance pay. There were a lot of people that had issues with getting paid on time.
  5. You would have to apply for a waiver to do the 2 year ROTC program and you could stretch out your coursework to make it take the full 2 years by adding a minor or taking graduate classes. That would probably be your best bet. Why are you talking about enlisting if your goal is to commission and your almost done with school anyways? If you get your GPA above a 3.0 you would have a decent chance at picking up a Pilot slot through ROTC. You have to provide your Transcripts from all colleges/coursework you have done though so switching majors is not going to give you a fresh start so to speak.
  6. I would go with number 2. You never smoked marijuana technically, but explain during your security clearance interview that it may have appeared that you did to certain people. Just tell the truth. The person that interviews you won't care if you did/didn't smoke weed but if you lie and say you never had anything to do with it when you have this story in your past it would make it look like you are trying to hide something if they discovered the truth in your investigation. With the SC investigators it is always better to be honest about shit because if they find something that you could have potentially lied about it looks like you are trying to hide something and could potentially be blackmailed to cover it up.
  7. All ROTC awards are pointless with the exception of DG and expert marksmen. Those actually carry over on to active duty but I don't think it really matters too much in the real Air Force.
  8. Volunteer for everything possible. If they insist that you choose something choose group staff. Your life will suck for that week but the rest of FT will be a breeze and you will probably do well in the end because of that experience.
  9. Does anyone know what the regulations are on who can be your first salute? Say you have a father/ grandfather/ relative who is a veteran but not a retiree, can they give you your first salute?
  10. You get 2 free tickets to Milwaukee Brewers Games every Sunday at Miller Park with a Military ID. Beer is around $5 and hot dogs are $1 (on sundays)
  11. This might be a stupid question but i haven't seen it addressed anywhere else.. Do you get flight pay while at IFS and UPT or not until you make it through UPT?
  12. I would like to log some hours before going to IFS. Can anyone recommend an aircraft that is similar to the DA-20 and typically at civilian flight schools?
