  1. This Big Pharma argument is so disingenuous. If you refuse to trust pharmaceutical companies, the CDC, and the FDA, fine. I have no problem with that. Just be intellectually honest and stop shopping at the grocery store.

That’s quite the conundrum you present. You either blindly trust that Big Pharma has 100% public interest as their motive, or divorce yourself completely from their products. I don’t know if you’ve read or watched, but the Hulu series Dopesick (and book of same name), illustrated how corrupt the FDA and Pharma can be. But that fact that within one year, the “vaccine” has made them record breaking profits, and the messaging now is three shots + booster. I’m not the smartest man in the world, but something doesn’t pass the smell test.

  2. Again, happy to check out literally any amplifying data on these supposed 800,000 neurological problems.  Until then I'll probably default to the stats VAERS, the CDC, and the worldwide medical community are reporting.

I’m not arguing any of those issues. I’m pointing out that we have mNRA “vaccines” that are not even a year into usage, and has morphed from a two shot series, into three, or four required. All the while, the Pharma companies, have legal immunity over injuries related to the administration or use of their products to treat or protect against Covid, until 2024. We have ZERO data on the long term affects of these treatments. You might trust Pfizer and Moderna, I don’t.
  3. Well come on now.  Who wouldn't want to believe Big Pharma?

I think they’ve got a good track record of being open and honest about the side effects of a drug which they’ve made billions off. I mean OxyContin “non-addictive” release was along time ago in 1996, I’m sure Big Pharma has changed since then…

  4. It’s not elder abuse, the POS is responsible for his own actions.  He has decades long history of saying the most nonsensical things, not the mention a long history of racist comments that no one cares about since his name is preceded with a D.  It’s okay, half the country voted for him and no mean tweets!

Wrong, he received 81,284,000 (most votes in history). But we must ensure we protect voting rights…

  5. Get a copy of your medical records, and find out who the base VSO is. They can assist you with filing your VA disability claim. If you have between 180 days and 90 days left in the Air Force, they can work to file what's called a Benefits at Delivery Discharge (BDD) claim. Essentially you do all the work, and then immediately upon retirement receive any VA disability pay.

You will have to do a SHPE exam with Flight Medicine, this is a separate appointment than your annual flight physical. You can use is at you VA disability exam, however, I personally choose to not do that.

For anyone looking for solid books on our Afghanistan experience, I'd recommend the following:

    Directorate S by Steve Coll

Steve Coll is a fantastic author! He wrote another great book called Ghost Wars; about the CIA's involvement in the covert wars in Afghanistan that fueled Islamic militancy and gave rise to bin Laden's al Qaeda.

I'll definitely check out Directorate S.

  7. Why?

One of the challenges we have as a nation, is our love of freedom, and assuming everyone in the world wants our version of society. Do I think there’s anything better, no. But if your country has never known “Western Democracy”, you won’t embrace it like we do.

I’m my opinion, the civilian and military leadership, ascribe to that US dominate worldview, and it shapes the decisions they support.

We need to divorce ourselves from endlessly “spreading democracy” across the globe. And just perform, limited and targeted ops.

  8. I’ve always enjoyed making jokes about C-17s landing at wrong airports, or not putting their gear down. But the fact that a crew took off with 800 passengers, and I heard others did that same with numbers in the 600’s is truly heroic stuff.

You are all a credit to America, and the USAF, your actions represent the best of us. I can’t even begin to imagine the chaos, and literal life and death decisions you were forced to make. Thank you, and well done! But that doesn’t begin to describe the accolades you deserve.

  9. The State Department and Department of Defense said in a statement Sunday that there are “thousands” of Americans stranded in Afghanistan after the Taliban declared victory over the U.S.-backed government earlier in the day.

There will be many who blame Biden for the Taliban taking over Afghanistan, I personally think that was inevitable, regardless of who was in the chair when we left.

But leaving THOUSANDS of Americans stranded, that falls 100% on his administration. They’re charged with protecting our governmental civilians serving their country. The lack of planning is truly astonishing. I’m hoping they make it out safely.

  10. Bull. We could have won if we tried. We would have to have killed a lot more people. We decided it was more important to be seen as the good guy than to win.
If you're not willing to do what it takes to win a war, which is to kill pretty much the entire population that is fighting you or supporting the enemy, do not go to war.
War is hell and can never be pretty no matter how many over-educated idiots in charge think it can be. They valued the lives of random Afghans and the enemy over the lives of their own troops.

This right here is why we choose to stay in places we shouldn’t be in…”If only we killed more military aged men”, then we would have turned the tide to support America…
Every drone strike that killed innocent civilians, created 10 new enemies, it was never going to end like we choose.

We went to Afghanistan to avenge 9/11 and got stuck in nation building, all while we got sidetracked in WMD Iraq war.

It’s a massive shit sandwich with no good outcomes, unless we we’re willing to be a indefinite occupier.

  11. What’s happening now, is the unavoidable outcome unless we choose to occupy Afghanistan forever. You can’t force “American freedom” on a population who’s unable/unwilling to accept it. It’s unfortunate how quickly this country will revert to Taliban rule; but this isn’t Biden’s fault. It would have happened regardless of the sitting POTUS after a US withdraw.

  12. In just a couple days we are going to see endless footage of an American embassy overrun by militant terrorists.  Just about the worst optics we can have on the international stage.

No the raising of a Taliban flag over the US Embassy on the 20th anniversary of September 11th will be worse…and that’s what they’re planning on doing

  13. We only half assed it though. I don't think the Taliban can be defeated if we don't snuff the root which is the materiel support they're getting from Pakistan.

We will never beat the Taliban. This is a religious war to them. They don’t care or accept our American way of life, they will wait in the mountains until we decide it’s time to leave, then they will drive back into the cities and take over. We’ve lost time, individual lives, and Trillions of dollars, and we still don’t understand the enemy. Unless we plan on staying and fighting there forever, this is the reality of Afghanistan.

So according to Adam, you can’t love and support your country (MW definition of patriot) if you didn’t fight in a 18th century war.

His shtick has gotten tired. I understand he’s trying to paint himself as the anti-Trump guy, but he’s got nothing to offer except tears and more “January 6th is the worst day in American history” narrative. Those buffoons and LARP idiots have all been arrested and will serve jail time. After 5 years, the Trump haters still haven’t realized what he craves, it’s attention. And this commission will only breathe life into his followers. How about this, do, or even just say something, about the trillions of dollars we’re just printing every 6 months.

  15. Currently stationed at Langley. York County has best schools for elementary age kids. If you want to avoid a long commute, don’t live across a bridge or tunnel. Williamsburg is nice, but looking at 40-45 minutes depending on construction or accidents. Personally, I think this is one of the best locations I was ever based. Lots of outdoor and historical things to do.

  16. His only response was, "that's not a fair question."

I think what he was getting at was that your using a very specific example of your unit to make that case that only a pilot should lead. Every conflict is different, and will require different skill sets. The first months of Afghanistan was fought with dudes on horseback. And as we move forward, the use of AI or pilotless aircraft will become more prevalent.
  17. This situation highlights multiple areas that need to be discussed. I can see where every person involved felt justified in their position. From my MAF viewpoint, this seems like a failure in the Mission Planning Cell. The 12 hour minimum show time is a shit plan for a local exercise. Personally, the OG/CC was placing  his frustration at the wrong people. We give the A-code to the pilot to make the best call for the aircraft. There’s a level of trust that’s earned/expected; and to second guess them, because of a negative exercise metric is bad leadership.

  18. Does anyone that just wants to fly the line really care about the rank, or just the extra pay that comes with the (Lt Col) rank?

Honestly for me the main driving force to try for Lt Col, was being able to retire at 20. I was deployed while a passed over pilot was recalled to separate. There was also a good dude, fellow squadron mate that also had separate. Both guys, 3 years away from the check of the month club. That 2011 debacle worried me, and I knew if I didn’t make O-5, there was no guarantee I’d be able to retire. Thankfully for me, after I was passed over, I was continued.

  19.

Is that the full story? Pretty sure APZ rates overall have gone up in recent years.

Agree that it is a shame that boards are apparently disregarding a senior rater’s DP promotion recommendation, especially when they only have so many allocated and them giving it to an APZ was one less available for an IPZ.

I downloaded the Excel sheets from the Stars-Demog site (via MyPers direction). The numbers I posted are directly from that source.
And after looking at the 2021 data the LAF-A APZ DP rate was even lower at 54.5%
This year was certainty a huge drop from the past.

They’re on stars-demog. You can find it by searching on mypers. APZ got royally screwed this year.

Here's the APZ DP promotion Rates the last few years.

    2015: 83.8%

    2016: 100%

    2017: 96%

    2018: 91.7%

    2019: 91.4%

    2020: 91.3%

    2021: 66.7%

For whatever reason, this board was significantly rougher for those individuals. That f'ing sucks.

  21. Still, doesn’t matter.  It’s common etiquette for leadership to notify non selects, usually via 1-on-1 meeting, another failure of basic leadership in 14N Guy’s world.

After my 1 APZ non-selection board, I never had another Commander tell me whether or not I got selected. The difference is that he had a DP, statistically 14N should have had a legitimate shot.

  22. I think 2x passed over is your IPZ look and 1xAPZ look. Not sure what they will call it when they change to the 5 total looks...Maybe something like, "I'm on my X look for promotion"?

This is correct. Your 1 APZ after your IPZ is considered “twice passed” over. For those in that unfortunate class, you should find out immediately from your CC is continuation is being offered. However, with the new 5 year look, I’m not familiar with how that actually will work…
