  1. So, I'm getting ready to move to Little Rock for PIQ starting next month. I'd seen on this thread that guys had stayed off base in places like downtown Little Rock. I'm interested in doing the same, but everything I've heard on my end is that I HAVE to stay in billeting while I'm there. 6 months in billeting, really? That sounds awful... How did everyone get around it, or is it possible just to say screw it and get the apartment out of pocket?
  2. Dammit! So this has to do with sim availability, rather than syllabus or timeline BS? And is this likely going to be an every weekend occurrence? I'll be going through the 62nd for initial qual in the next couple of months.
  3. They just held an impromptu drop in the wing auditorium. EN 11-03 (AD US) F-15E F-16 x4 T-38 FAIP x2 U-28 NSA/M-28 x2 C-17 (Hickam) C-130 (Little Rock) x2 B-52 EDIT: NSA's were double-labled and pictured as M-28's specifically.
  4. Flew through Holloman last weekend and was talking to a crew chief about this. The Korean -38's are going to go through Holloman to get upgraded to C-model status, then get redistributed to Tyndall/Langley. I also know at least some of the pilots who fly the Talons are full time at it. I knew of a T-38 FAIP who got offered the job to lead the "aggressor" group at Holloman, but wouldn't be flying Raptors (and wasn't guaranteed to on his next tour) so he turned the job down.
  5. No f-ing way... That sounds like my gayest days back in ROTC. "Why is this not standardized?!"
  6. I'm also at ASBC right now. Our flight commander put the whole program a good way. It depends entirely on who your flight commander is. There are some who volunteer to be ASBC instructors and want to be here. You want them as your instructors. Then there are the non-vols who got forced out of their career field and had no interest in going to Maxwell. They try to pass on their misery to all of their students and basically make ASBC a shtty experience. Unfortunately the ratio is about 1/1 of vols and non-vols. I got lucky. Our flt/CC was prior enlisted, is now cruising towards retirement AND volunteered for instructor duty. He's open about which lessons he hates and feels free to teach them how he wants. He expects basically nothing from us (as far as preparation) and let's us out early on a regular basis. This gives us a good opportunity to get drunk on weeknights, take classes as seriously (or not) as we want and makes it a lot easier to put up with the BS. Overall, I'd say it beats sitting around on casual doing squat, especially with the nice TDY bonus in per diem and travel expenses coming my way. On the other hand, if I was already operational in my career field (especially flying,) I'd be pissed I was here. Sure makes me look forward to SOS...
  7. I just heard from a friend going to XL that you area allowed to get an on-base house if you're single. But apparently you need roommates and they have to be either one class ahead of you, in your class, or one class behind you as well as the same gender. The base websites generally have all the info available for incoming studs as far as housing and inprocessing. I'm not going to XL, though, so I haven't checked up on this myself.
  8. I'm confused. Is Afghanistan planning on buying C-27's, or is he immigrating to Italy?
  9. Well, that gives pointy-nose wishfuls like myself something to hope for... Not that its worth much...
  10. F-in classic. You wouldn't be able to sell any of those, would you?
  11. "The BL is that the Air Force is looking for around 20 new lieutenants to become recruiters in certain areas of the US with high populations of minorities" Careful, there's a lot of minorities to recruit in the Columbus, MS area... -Patty
  12. The AFA Jump Team wears a special blue "flight suit." (It has a slightly different configuration, I think.) And actually, EVERYONE at USAFA gets a flight suit, but except for special exceptions, you only wear them on days when you go flying/jumping. Just what I've heard/seen from Zoomies I know... And just to add back to the S&M bag thread, I think its funny that the Space cadets in our class keep asking the future flyboys where to get flight suits and we either say a) we're pretty sure the NCO's are out, b) they cost like $300-400 or c) both. Feel free to do the same, hehe. -Patty
  13. Oh dear god... There's both UAV's and satellites on that patch. EDIT: I'm an idiot and its def not the Grad patch.
  14. Ditto. I've been hearing about rapid decompressions at altitude that do things to the body that pull pilots off flight status permanently. Apparently its not all that uncommon...
  15. Understood. Putting that one in the ole' notebook for later.
  16. I love that the fans are laughing at the sh!tty flyover. That just makes my day. I wonder how his Narcissistic Personality Disorder would do if he saw that video...
  17. First of all, I totally agree with everything you just said. Hopefully with all the bitching we do around here, someone will end up in a place to do something about it. Or is Baseops and all its ideas totally off-limits to CC's? If I were a squadron commander, seems to me a forum like this would be one of the best ways to keep up with the pulse of my airmen... At least as far as the bad stuff goes. I have to ask, though, what's a REMF?
  18. Ouch. Alright, alright. Bad call on my part. I submit these in apology. Apparently I'm not as good at drunk posting as some on this forum... untitled.bmp
  19. I'm putting this one up now with the promise of T&A later. -Patty
  20. "GodDamn, those faggots that "fly" UAV's get XBOX achievement points every time they land successfully. What a bunch of ######ing tools. Let's hit the bar." I'm pretty sure I've heard that exact quote somewhere around here before...
  21. "UR GIRLFRIEND LOOKS LIKE SHE WASHES HER FACE EVERY NIGHT WITH A BEAR TRAP." OMG, I don't think something has made so many grown men cry since those pictures were first posted. She's what we like to call a "paper-bag special." -Patty
  22. Haha, I bet if it were the Thunderbirds their sexuality wouldn't be called into question. OH YEAH! -Patty
  23. A bomber wouldn't be such a bad place to end up now that I think about it... By the way, if anyone feels like giving up on UPT now that getting a fighter is "harder" or "impossible" to get, feel free to try out that new UAS track I've been hearing so much about. You probably weren't competitive anyway. -Patty
  24. They've done it again...
