  1. The 2.5 more accurately reflects the needs of the C-17 community.  Thousands of hours of research by personnelists went into these numbers.
Even more research was done on the 2.0 crew ratio for the C-130.  While maintaining the 1.75 was argued, the increase to 2.0 won the day.  A minority in the community successfully argued the lack of navigators should create a higher crew ratio, so AMC A-1 caved and agreed to raise it to 2.0 (100%+ manned at the squadron level, I might add).  MAF is extremely healthy, again thanks to the efforts of number crunchers to keep the communities healthy.

Can you just stop please? We all get it, you're hilarious.

  2. I know what would have happened on the jet if someone hit my beloved across the face with a stroller while holding my rugrat. Eye witnesses accounts would say everything went black for a minute and the whole crew was stacked over each other on the beverage cart when the dust settled.
Are the pilots at the airlines not taught how to deescalate a situation? That pilot wasn't prior Air Force.

  3. Bump. AMS robot sent the hiring message this week. Does anyone know how much AR time is "enough" to apply? I was RT qual'd in the -135 but had min boom time.

Also a -135 RT guy with min boom time. Been talking to the E-4 guys recently. The trend from everyone I'm talking to is that they highly desire AR time and AR IP time since it's the most challenging thing to do in the E-4.
  4. Anyone here have experience with the Chase Sapphire Reserve credit card.  They advertise 100,000 bonus points if you spend $4000 in the first 3 months, 3x points on travel and restaurants, and $300 annual travel credit.  The annual fee is $495 but I was wondering if anyone knew if they offered a similar deal to AMEX by waiving fees to Active Duty individuals?

No waiving on this one unfortunately. But the $300 travel credit is for calendar year so if you get it now you get the credit for 2016 and 2017 and can cancel the card before the next annual fee is due, netting you $150 plus the 100K points.

  5. I had a similar situation happen...failed my PT test right around UPT graduation.

Passed the retake and continued to get an excellent on every test since. Haven't literally heard anything from leadership about it since I left UPT (5 years ago). At all.

It still shows up on my report obviously, but nobody really seemed to care since I've done just fine after the fact.

  6. Busch Gardens in Tampa also has the 100% discount. It's an either-or with SeaWorld

I just got an e-mail from SeaWorld, apparently they're in a major PR campaign to recover from the recent "documentary" about their whales. Anywho, I would probably steer clear of there for the next year or so, as they're likely to be doing serious construction. I'm taking the wife and 4 month old to Florida as well, and we'll likely check out BG this year, and SW next year (after they should be done with the construction).

Let me know when you're in Tampa. First one is on me.

  7. If you're on scholarship they'll continue to pay and you just need to complete the 5th year as an ROTC cadet still.

I was in a 5 year program at ERAU but myself and most of my classmates managed to complete in 4.5 and graduate in the fall.

Definitely not a deal breaker. Looking back on it i wish I stayed in college longer ;)
