  1. ...if my body is blown to bits, I hope the military doesn't rely on the dog tag tied to my boot lace to identify the remains.
  2. 11-2c-130v3 6.2.5 Identification Tags. Crewmembers will carry two identification tags on all flights. yes, that is how bored I am.
  3. when I did 37 tons x 2 on my E6B it came out to 64,000 lbs. I called my Nav buddy, and he explained to me that 37 x 2 = 74.
  4. Now I can check my email on that low level
  5. I love it also. I don't think comparing them to the E models would make much sense.
  6. I actually did a search figuring that this has been discussed, not much came up. Sounds like it should be flying in 2008, and half of Europe is ordering them, but not the US (according to google). European made I suppose. H3 - $30 million J model - $60 million A400M - $90 million payload of 64k, a little faster than the Herc, cargo area a little bigger than the Herc, and it has that neat tiger-stripe paint job.
  7. What's the "CV" stand for naming the Osprey?

  9. I've spent a ton of time deciphering this lately: All sited from JFTR Chapter 5, part G http://dodtravelregs.hqda.pentagon.mil/pro...e.htm?view=main ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ U5620 FISCAL YEAR LIMITATION ON PAYMENT OF DLA Effective 20 June 2005 A. General. Under 37 USC ยง407, members are authorized only one DLA during a fiscal year, unless the: 2. Member is on PCS to, from, or between courses conducted, controlled and managed by one or more of the Services; ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So this says, you can get paid DLA more than once per fiscal year, if you're moving around for UPT. The guideline on when can you get PCS vs TDY is 20 weeks (although I know this has been an issue also) so PCS for training more than 20 weeks....you get DLA. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ And, U5630-B6 says when you get the secondary rate: 6. Orders Amended, Modified, Canceled, or Revoked. When a PCS order is amended, modified, canceled, or revoked to direct the member to return to the station from which transferred, a DLA is payable if the member and/or dependents actually move from the place of residence before the date the order is amended, modified, canceled, or revoked. If a member and/or dependents actually move from the place of residence ICW a PCS order and complete a move to a new location and then that PCS order is amended, modified, canceled, or revoked to either direct the member to return to the old station or to direct the member to a different new PDS, then a DLA is payable ICW each move. No more than two DLAs are authorized by this paragraph. NOTE: In this situation only, the amount of the second DLA paid is taken from Table U5G-2. Par. U5630 does not authorize more than one DLA for dependents who move twice under the authority in par. U5222-C3a. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So the fact that all of the PCS moves are a result of amended orders during the same fiscal year, means secondary DLA rate.

  12. I am a guard guy going from Corpus to Little Rock this summer. My home unit just sent me my orders. They are for a PCS to Little Rock the day after my Winging. I am trying to explain to them that this should be a PCS back home followed by TDY to the Rock. I have heard other students around here that have been dealing with similar issues since money has been so tight in the Air Force for TDY pay. Has anyone found the rule here? What have you guys been doing? I did search, seems like most are still going TDY?

Congrats on the purchase. I bought my Jeep about 8 years ago, and have been addicted ever since. It's a money trap, but I enjoy every penny wasted. If you do think about modifications, I highly recommend http://www.jeepsunlimited.com/mambo2/ as a resource. Tons of information, especially as a beginner. My Jeep:
  15. yes, the adjusted gross income of $52k or less does include your spouse's income, if you file jointly. And for the first-time home buyer. You can use the closing costs as a itemized deduction, or you can take the standard deduction. You will need to look at your specific situation to determine if it benefits you. At any rate, TurbTax will help you figure it out just fine.
