Asked for 4 months off UPT with just under 365 days to GI bill to reserves, with approvals all the way up so far and a letter of intent to hire. Not conifdent in the "approval" though. It was the standard friend of a friend of a friend. ISR called AFPC contact who called SAF/PC contact and relayed back, but I feel it's as "that one will get approved with all the supporting info". Its aggravating that the new process went from somewhat streamlined of 1-5 weeks to now 12-16 weeks.

Got informally told approved but that it will be 12-15 weeks for "official approval". It's been there 5 weeks. House sold, reserves hired, waiting on "official approval" so my family and I can get on with our life.....

WTF? (**NSFW**)
What problems have you seen? Seriously asking. Not trying to start the standard bomber on bomber hate fest, has there a problem with B-1 units run by B-52 guys? As you know, B-52 wings also swapped leadership, and I for one am extremely happy with the "progress" we are making in crossflow in our communities. As the bone and buff pogo between AORs, having mid and upper level leadership with experience in both locations can, in my mind, help us all advance. Bones in the Pacific, WG/CCs that have been SQ/CCs there (plus a shit hot SQ/CC leading the charge who developed the current CBP). BUFFs in CENTCOM, great B-1 WG/CCs that were SQ/CCs through that. To me, the biggest down fall is that the CGO level exchange should have been going on for far longer in order to share/populate good ideas from both communities and highlight/question bad ones with the outside perspective this crossflow provides. Thoughts?

That blows! Got in touch with my functional today and he said it has recently been 1-5 weeks. Hopefully we all get answers soon.

Any recent updates on timeline? My package made it to SAF PC last week so curious to see if the new process has sped things up or slowed it down. Fingers crossed.

Air Force/Airline Meeting
The article references us as a "national asset". Maybe the AF is starting to realize that pilots are important to this whole AF thing.

Thanks for all the data. For the MFR, I'm going to a TFI FTU so should be able to spin that to help out as long as I don't get fragged by GI Bill.

Anyone have luck Palace Front with GI Bill TX still past your DOS? I was pursuing PC due to GI Bill, but ISR is recommending PF. I know the whole discussion we have had here on the GI Bill, but my recruiters all concur that PF with GI Bill straight to the reserves is a non-issue.

I got a couple responses. Thanks for the help guys!

Anyone mind sharing examples of successful personal MFRs? Spoke with my AFPC functional today and he approves but highly recommended the MFR for SAF. Asking for 4 months off UPT and transfer 363 days of GI Bill to Reserves.

Aviation Continuation Pay (ACP - The Bonus)
Yeah I think overall it's considered a great deal by buff drivers. Don't know why you bone guys aren't amped about things like Minot and nuke?? (Sarcasm)

Speaking of the hiring letter, my reserve unit said they just fill in a position number when I submit my 1288. Recruiter agreed. Am I missing anything with that by not having an actual hiring letter? Also, any luck recently with requests around the below stats? requesting 4 months UPT and 12 months TEB to the reserves. Will not be supported by base leadership, but may have AFPC buy in. Contiplating sucking it up for the last 4 months of UPT ADSC to give myself the best odds. Thanks

Hah! That's hilarious to take one last discriminative jab. Guess what? The airline bonus is well beyond that.

How's Guam
It was the previous wing weapons officer and he loved it, but was really ready to leave by the end of the tour. Island fever, busy job, and not flying I think we're getting to him. Hopefully you were were able to get out there with the 34th to get the lay of the land. Can't ask for better leadership than the guys out there now so it should be a great work environment. Feel free to PM. I have 3 tours there with the last being a year ago.

My friends out there have rented hous s off base and they were not that bad. Great view depending on where you go. I mean, with a 15x35 mile island that's about to tip over, you always have an ocean view.

NFL Ratings are Way Down
I seriously wonder that as well and how that conversation went.

Anyone catch that the General in the updated southwest commercial is no longer wearing an Air Force-like uniform but now a black overcoat.

Nice. Both my loosing and gaining in service recruiters told me otherwise. I guess I need to dig into the reg a bit more. Thanks!

Congrats! As soon as my scroll gets back I'll be asking for roughly the same off for TA. Any specific things you did that may have gotten it approved?

Goldfein advocating FAA 1500 hour rule change???
I don't want to derail this thread, but I have not seen contractors getting hired in my community. Who has been able to get them? My assumption would be fighter units since they have been the focus of leadership but curious if we can expect that coming down the road. An actual CSS and some contractors would make a world of difference.

Don't mention the retirement age again. They probably haven't thought of that yet.

Congrats on the pardon and thanks for clearing that up for me. Seriously still figuring the PC process out.

How's Guam
My info is based on 3 deployments there. I would take it over Minot and don't think it would be a bad 2 year gig. The friends I have stationed there love it. If your into diving, it's some of the best you will find. The ocean there is around 80 deg year round, and the weather is pretty predictable (85 and humid with a chance of rain). Good golfing, excellent caving, and countless jungles to explore if you are into that. Base is pretty good and majority of the island is either Air Force or navy. Toward the end I assume you would get some island fever, but you can catch hops around the pacific to break that up. The island itself is about 35x13 miles and may tip over with any additional Marines, but if you are adventurous, you can find things to do. There is a touristy area (tumon bay) and the island as a whole is kinda like Hawaii and a shitty part of Mexico had a baby. Very few radio stations, the speed limit is 35 max, broken down cars litter the island, and boonie dogs and chickens roam freely. locals, like many places, some hate us and some love us. All in all, if they stood up a buff sq there I would take a 2 year there. I hope this helps. Feel free to pm.
