  1. Can't answer about what they do as far as always having a refueler. I have never done a fighter drag over the Atlantic. Done several over the Pacific. Tankers do a lot of varied jobs. People moves, "business efforts" where we go someplace and set up refueling ops. Very little Cargo hauling as we can't carry that many pallets, but I have done a couple. We also do aeromedical missions now, alot of hops in one day carring around injured military members. They are a lot of work, but very rewarding. Also when a large group of brass is going somewhere they seem to like the 135 as it is the fastest of the big boys, usually cruise around .84. I don't get bored too often. Although some of the real long trips can be pretty boring. Mizz, you aren't going to doing that many fighter drags if you want tankers. Maybe 10% of what I have done at least is fighter drags. They are sort of fun though as you have someone else to talk to out on your wing.
  2. 16 has about a 2 hour endurance with a centerline only. That is cross country 2 hours. No burner ect. Other than that, it depends.
  3. Good chance you will get Great Falls MT. Malmstrom AFB. All new housing, very nice. Hope you like the outdoors, as there isn't a whole lot else to do there. Don't know about FE, or Minot.
  4. Botchie is now our new wing commander. Will be getting his star here as soon as it gets approved. Can I tell him snake says hi or would he know you by that?
  5. Springfield Ang is about 20 miles away. They are a training base and have quite a few D models. Also if you get bored you could come over to Rickenbacker (1 hour drive) and fly with the tankers. Or mansfield/youngstown 130s. If you are looking to catch a flight or two, there are a lot of oppertunities around wright pat. Although these are all guard/reserve units, and you might not want to fly with them as you might get brain washed and want to come to the dark side. I know some of the guys at Springfield and they are usually pretty good about trying to get people rides. If you can get an altitude chamber ride you would stand a better chance yet. Hey one more thing, if you can get into hanger 18 you should be able to take some pics of the aliens they have stored there...yea right..
  6. All I ever use is the "box" in the airplane. I have a Nike watch that has all of the wiz bang Altimeter, compass, ect. It was about $100, about half of the size of the Sunto, and has been with me for almost 5 years. I have to agree if your going for style, go with the Rolex. Now days you can find the cheapo fake Rolex watches that even have the sweeping second hand not the tell-tale tick-tick-tick of the fake ones. I bought one for $25 last time we were down south. I know it's not real, but the flat screen TV I bought in it's place is.
