Also don't the enlisted troops get their uniform allowance in October?
We get our clothing allowance in the month that we entered the AF, or close to it...I started basic June 12 so my clothing allowance is in my 1 July paycheck (too close to June 15th paycheck to get it in that one).

Steve...empty out your PM container. You're missing out on potential sales, including mine!

Just don't let her catch ya' dipping on the airplane (even on the ground during the preflight).
Oh, and make sure there's an IP on board if she does fly with any of you.

And I just got FCF Qual'd today. That kinda brings it all into perspective. Glad the crew recovered and got it home.

I anyone having trouble with their older Citizen Navihawk?
About a year ago my analog hands were no loner matching with the set time.... they were all jacked up. I tried a reset several times, nothing helped. I sent it of to Hurly Roberts Service (the only guys I could find that will work on these things) and they repaired it $160, I paid $200 for the watch in 2000. Well about 3 months later the same thing happened. So, I just bought the new Skyhawk Eco Drive.
Try this link Navihawk Setting Instructions
The first part talks about resetting the analog hands.

I think him and Rainman started a commune together in Wyoming or Idaho or something.

Sorry to thread hijack a bit here but I figured this would be a good post to ask a question. I'm looking for a good running shoe that will support my flat feet and bad knees. Something in the $80 to $100 price range.

A couple of questions and one piece of advice:
to those holding dual-citizenship: Why is renouncing one hard or not desirable to do? How does one have dual-citizenship in the first place?
I believe that if you are born in certain countries, such as England or the US, you automatically become a citizen of that country.
Here's some Wiki info on the subject...Dual Citizenship

NM has some great outdoor activities, you've just got to drive a bit to get to them. But that's the price for living in the wide open West. Once you get out of Clovis/Portales area and into the western / northern / southern parts of the state, it really is nice.

LR had a dining-in tonight and the guest speaker was LtCol (Ret) Jack Downhill. He was a pilot in the 62nd TCS and flew in the early morning hours of D-Day, dropping troops of the 82nd. What an amazing story...800 AGL over the coast of France, at night, tracer fire, getting a PI, taking a round into the fuel tank and still landing safely. All at the ripe old age of 23! Oh, and he was element lead. A true pioneer of Tactical Airlift.

Does anyone know if people that are PCS at Cannon try to live places other than clovis. I am getting there in a couple of months and as a single guy, I don't really want to be so far from civilization. Wasn't sure if living closer to Amarillo or Lubbock was a viable option or if anyone was trying something else.
A quick look at Google Earth and you soon realize that you have three choices within reason...Cannon base housing, Clovis or Portales. Eastern NM Uni is in Portales so yeah, some college atmosphere there for ya. Lubbock is about 80 miles or so away, not much in between except farm land. Not really feasable with gas prices today. Amarillo is even farther away, and has a cattle stock yard that will take your breath away...literally.
My advice would be to go TDY as much as you can.

Hypo-allergenic and washable for years of trouble-free use! Simply pull the Microphone Muff over your headset mic and secure with included O-ring.
Use it to hold the mic cover in place.

Wow...talk about a thread going downhill fast!

Good stuff!
My favorite was sending a guy into the tool crib for a fallopian tube. We also had the "voice activated Light All" and the "push start -60" among others.

After all most Viper guys have been hating on Clovis for decades - could they all be wrong?
The Vipers only spent about 13 years there, the F-111's spent almost 30 years at Cannon. That's all I heard about at Mt. Home..."at least you're not at Cannon". Then I got orders to Cannon. Spent 2 years in Clovis with the Ravens and Baseops is correct...there is a reason it has the reputation that it does. You definitely have to go out and make your own fun, and that usually involved a case of beer and an AK-47 for us.
Some highlights for those headed there:
Leal's has very good Mexican food.
Great dirt bike / mt bike riding. Sand dunes east of town.
Plenty of areas/wide open spaces for horseback riding, shooting, ect...
Taos has some of the best powder in the West.
Santa Fe' in the summer is pretty descent, great food there.
If you are interested in getting married and starting a family without going thru all that pregnancy stuff...Clovis is the place!

I wonder what he did wrong that made him resign...
“He feels that now is an appropriate time for a transition in leadership.”Yeah, right!

Change for the sake of change. I guess that will get rid of 4 squadron CC's and associated people, save a few bucks. Interesting concept I suppose. Be a nice bullet on someone's OPR/EPR.
I think they should Consolidate all the Base Personnel Offices...call it CBPO. Maybe I'll AFSO21 that idea.

Yup, looks like I had some outdated info there Boxhead. Appears as though they have a concealed carry permit now. I was there in the mid-90's and I've heard things have gotten worse down there since then.
-
You are not allowed to carry concealed. But you can open carry (except into banks, fed buildings, bars ect) and my friends and I carried just about everywhere we went.
-
Not from the Deid but rather Balad. We are running LIDAR on base in the combat zone now. WTF??
The way the Army drives around Balad, I don't mind if the Sky Cops run radar.
-
You should get it issued to you from your gaining squadron upon completion of Mission Qual.

Looks like they have opened up the entire 1AX career field to find folks willing to do the Creech / Cannon shuffle for the rest of their career. Good luck with that AFPC.

I believe that he was nix'ing the new service dress with the belt. I'm guessing that was so we could focus on updating our old service dress.
