What's the pulse on the SWA's TA? Dudes satisfied, indifferent, furious?

    Merry Christmas to all.

    From a WN bro:

“The FOs are really happy.  The CAs are mostly happy except for the CAs with 3 ex-wives that think they need to be WB pay above $400 TFP ($456/hour) which is a dream at best.”

    Han shot first!

"Put a chick in it and make her gay!" - Kathleen Kennedy (South Park)

I sat there watching the hangar scene after the Cantina, with Jabba and Han chatting it up a-la-CGI with my jaw on the floor.

    Immediately wanted my money back.

At some point I had the spare $ to get the Star Wars collection to indoctrinate my youngest.

On watching Episode IV, I found that it was the "edited" version.  Never have I experienced that level of buyer's remorse.

I picked up an ATP before the big change over during a white jet tour. Turns out I may have wasted my money. I did like flying the Barron around though.

Rest assured, you didn't waste your money.

    1. You skipped the CTP BS class that the current generation is subjected to

    2. Your app wouldn't have moved forward at AA without it.  At the moment, major's aren't interviewing if you don't have an ATP in your pocket (could change tomorrow)

    3. So at the very least you saved the additional $5k that it takes to get the rating on your own, or the requisite touch-and-go at a regional to accomplish same, probably saving 10's, if not 100's of thousands of long-term dollars.

I also knocked out my ATP before CTP reared its ugly head (2011 VSP debacle): money well spent.

    Hey ya’ll,

I’m just over a year out. Filled out the app with AA and got an immediate email asking for some sort of online assessment. I haven’t yet done any of the interview prep courses. Anyone have any insight as to what to expect once i click on the link?

    Thanks.

i did a quick search on here but didn’t see anything specific

    Recommend you call these guys.

  6. 1. Have to go to work in a few hours so, no, not drunk.

    2. Posting here, because this is where the target audience is.

    3. 20y ago, I was a casual 2Lt waiting to start UPT.

    4. -->On reflection, based on a totality of factors, I was dreadfully under-qualified.  But somehow, I was there.

    5. Pretty sure I blasted Eminem's Lose Yourself every morning driving in from base housing to the squadron, well into Phase 2.

Seriously, if you're browsing this forum, my advice is to fight like hell: it's totally worth it!

And they said you'd never have to do a fix to fix again!

Imma be honest: flew the C in UPT and PIT; getting to go back into the A for AdAir was awesome.

Loved that jet; they can keep the C and PMP.

one question, what kind of opportunities are you alluding to?

Disregard all rumors, news, innuendo, internet conspiracies, about what metal is on which ramp; new metal is just a rumor until you step to fly one that is sitting on your ramp.  If your unit has a board coming up, submit your application, interview, do well.  There's units that have announced they will lose their metal in the next few years: they are still hosting boards and sending students to UPT. There have been students in the middle of UPT who found that they had no airplanes left on their home ramp...they typically get taken care of, find other units that are happy to have them, etc.

Opportunities: if the unit down the street offers you a UPT slot but your unit has a board next year...probably best to take the slot.

  9. I hope you're enlisting to crew chief for the Raptor squadron.

If so, be the best crew chief on the line (also applies to [insert AFSC])

      - follow direction from your NCOs and leadership

      - be humble

      - take feedback and use it to improve

      - deploy with the squadron, even if you have to miss a semester or two.

The pilots will notice, and will put on war paint if thats what it takes to get you to UPT (they'll fight for you).

Whichever unit you're enlisting with, don't scoff the other units.  Your unit might be backlogged for UPT slots, changing airframes, losing their metal, etc.  Be up front and honest with your unit that you want to be an officer and fly, and that includes making yourself available to all opportunities on the island.

The productivity of the average person in a WFH position is not great. No one should be surprised by this.

Sometimes; and probably with a statistical slant toward the COVID WFH crowd; probably nailed it with "average person".

My Frau has been WFH since 2015.  By any measure her productivity has increased since she left the office, been promoted above her BA credentials, above standard raises; there was a minor brouhaha a couple of years ago where she was an RCH from bouncing, resume polished ready to publish on Linkedin.   Management fell all over themselves to keep her.  *Maybe* overall she's been paid slightly under industry standard for the work she's been doing over the past eight years; what's kept her from actively putting her resume out over these years has been the QoWL; hard to beat being able to send the kids out the door in the morning, get most of your productivity done in gym attire, then be home for the kids getting off the bus in the afternoon.  Was super convenient during the pre-school/kindergarten years!

I think the COVID WFH crowd has treated the experience like substitute-teacher day, everyday.  Productivity...if they feel like it.
