  1. Any CT over-G is pretty much an auto wedge. At Moody we had an IP who failed to secure all his loose items prior to opening the canopy after landing. The result? His FLIP pubs were blown out of the cockpit and, conveniently, directly down the intake of the right engine, FODding it out. I don't remember offhand what a new J85-GE-5 engine costs, but that couldn't have been easy on the O+M budget that month! Recently we had a student wedge, too. If you guys recall, there are a series of water sump vents on the lower part of the T-38 fuselage. During the walkaround, you're supposed to ensure those vents are flush with the skin. Further aft on the fuselage, there are very similar vents, but these have a big red circle painted around them. That's because these are fuel vents and not water vents. Well, at some point in this student's formulation of his pre-flight gameplan, he picked up a habit of physically pushing in those vents with his finger, either to try and drain them or as a strange way to ensure they're flush and closed. Anyhow, on this particular day, the poor preflight technique and the red-circled vents collided, dousing the student -- and all his life support gear -- with JP8+100. His helmet, mask, chute/harness, g-suit, and a bunch of other stuff were condemned. That stud, BTW, is headed up your way Toro...not sure if he's going to blue or red, though. [ 04. 2. No, that is brake release to touchdown (+5). Depending on the location of your MOA, that's probably 25-30 minutes of turn-and-burn time. [ 02. March 2006, 04:03: Message edited by: Hacker ]
  3. This is a repost of a bunch of quotes from numerous sources about the UPT washout rate. As was said previously, the overall SUPT washout rate is something in the 10-20% region and I remember reading in an article that the actual historical UPT washout rate was 14%.

Still looking, BTW, for the reference on the flight suit sleeves being out of regs. Anyone? <crickets>

Good luck, bro. I've been at Moody with my sleeves rolled up since summer '03 and haven't heard a comment about it yet.
  6. My favorite restaurant in ABQ is The County Line BBQ. Sits up N/NE of town at the base of Sandia Mountain.
  7. Here are a couple with aircraft actually in the shots... Why doesn't someone start a porn-and-aviation magazine, anyway?
  8. Again, I say...grow a pair...do your damn job and stop worrying about the implications of some kid you wash out who has sour grapes.
  9. Here, exactly, is where the problem is. UPT...DO YOUR F*CKING JOB, GODD@MN IT!
  10. Finless brown trout
  11. Back on topic... I actually have lost an inch in height since I started flying fighters. I measured just a bit over 6'2" when I had my first FC1 physical, and by my 2nd year flying the F-15E, I had lost 1 inch vertically. The good news is that ever since then I haven't lost any height.
  12. Since the Masters is about to become un-masked again...looks like this is an option!
  13. Unless your airframe (F-15, F-16) doesn't have boldface.
  14. Who the F*ck ever said anything about fair?
  15. Excellent sleuthing, Steve <snicker> https://www.airliners.net/open.file/102744/M/
  16. How's the pay and job security these days?
  17. According to airliners.net, that's a Bristol 175 Britannia 312
  18. And the top of the Viking female gene pool. Yummy.
  19. Yep...tried to at least. Especially on NVGs. Those airliners up there in the high 30s are easy to bite off on as bandits!!
  20. The only time I have ever intentionally intercepted an airliner was during a NOBLE EAGLE sortie.
  21. Da da, da da da da...TITS! I love blkafnav's wife, yes I do, yes I do.....
  22. How about the best TDY nametag of them all: <insert your SQ/CC's name here>
  23. I've been in two fighter squadrons so far with females flying in them, and I've yet to see one that was pissed off or offended by the standard bullsh*t that happens and is said in a fighter squadron. On the contrary, most of them have had language further in the gutter than many of the dudes in the squadron. This may have been a limfac in a fighter squadron a decade ago, but it's a non-issue from my standpoint today. Squadron/Group/Wing Commanders who are overly worried about getting fired (and feel the need to run an overly-PC ship as a result) are a significantly bigger threat to the fighter pilot culture than women pilots are.
  24. Been going that direction for a long time, I'm afraid to say. Gonna keep moving that way, unfortunately, as we move toward an all-SNAP and all-UAV fleet. F*ck 'em all. That word hasn't been specifically laid down at Moody, though. Sounds like you have an overly PC Wing King....(and Grace saluted smartly to that guidance?!)
