  1. GMAFB. Hurt Feelings Reports can be found elsewhere on this forum. I am not bashing enlisted or even command Chiefs as I've worked with phenomenal ones many times. I've also worked with total douchebags who operated WAY outside their lanes. I HATE it when dudes of any rank expect to be treated like they're fucking royalty.

Quit while you're behind, Azimuth has it correct.

    AFI 34-1201

7.5.3.1. The person serving as the Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force (CMSAF) is accorded special precedence status. In accordance with the Department of Defense (DoD) Order of Precedence (OSD Memo, dtd 19 Feb 2010) this position is coded DV Code 4 and afforded 3-star precedence. At Joint events, the CMSAF comes before ALL 3-star generals. At Air Force exclusive events only, the CMSAF has precedence over all 3-star generals except the Assistant Vice Chief of Staff of the Air Force (CVA).
  2. Stop the madness!!!

Suggestion: only serving commanders, SQ/CC and above, should have assigned parking spots.

Our base has two wings - the CC of the tenant wing is an O-6, host wing is an O-7. The commissary has a number of O-6 spots as well as one O-7 spot and a spot for each wing CC. The host wing CC is the only O-7 on base...so he effectively has two parking spots. I asked a manager why this was and she just shrugged it off, which I suppose I should have expected.

  3. There are two parts to a Navy FITREP: Performance traits (1-5, 1 being Below Standards, 2 Progressing, 3 Meets Standards, 4 above standards and 5 Greatly Exceeds standards) and Promotion Recommendation (Significant problems, Progressing, Promotable, Must Promote and Early Promote). Yes, a FITREP does list a Member Trait average versus the Summary Group Average, but the "CO/Promotion board only" score that I mentioned is the Commander's average for the command. That's what you don't ever see and that influences the board.

    Got it.

Like Bolter King said, you can only get so many EP, MP, P, etc. So you'll get guys backstabbing each other for that.

That's not a problem with the system, that's a problem with being around a bunch of douchebags. I've never been anywhere where guys turned into dickheads for a strat or DP.

  4. I don't remember there being a super-secret-double-blind rating average system that only the commander and promotion boards get to see in the AF. Nor do I remember being 1 of 5 one year and 2 of 14 the next being a scarlet letter. But it has been a couple of years, and I was never an Active Duty bubba, so maybe things have changed.

Hold on - you're not still talking about FITREPs, are you? FITREPs assign a score to each individual from 1-5 like an EPR. But unlike an EPR, they also display the commander's average ranking assigned to his personnel - so I five doesn't mean shit when the group average is also a five, but it stands out when the group average is a 3 (as designed). And their are a certain percentage of allowed "promotable" designators for each rank - no different than a DP. Those are the two primary scores on the FITREP.

  5. All the CFP BS made me think of another idiotic antiquated issue we have. If I want to pick up the phone and make a long distance call....I can't. Eventhough every phone company in the US has free long distance phone calls, the Air Force still hasn't figured it out. When I worked in safety, this become a big issue when we had a mishap - we weren't able to make calls to the FAA and ATC folks, and since cell phones don't get reception in our building, we were running back and forth from our office to the front doors on our cell phones while trying to run safety checklists.

After the fact we tried to get access on our phones for long distance calling and were told that we could:

    a) Be issued a long distance PIN that we'd have to enter prior to every long distance call

    b) Have a phone granted long distance access, but every long distance call would have to be logged.

Both of these are kind of inconvenient when there's a smoldering jet on the airfield, so we just stuck with cell phones and jogging.

  6. Fucking stop it.

Harumph. I would nominate you for the next CSAF if I knew you wouldn't scoff and take a giant dump on my letter of recommendation.

    Maybe fire a few people.

Haven't been keeping up with the news lately, have you? "We" are firing plenty of people, but not all those were the people that needed to be fired.

  7. how they can release medical information? isn't there doctor/patient confidentiality still in effect?

HIPPA for dead folks. The info can't be released for 50 years, unless....

These include provisions that permit a covered entity to disclose a decedent’s health information: (1) to alert law enforcement to the death of the individual, when there is a suspicion that death resulted from criminal conduct
  8. I lost hope for AFPC using anything resembling a "dream sheet" to match desires to duties long ago. After filling out aproximately 10 of them so far, I've managed to be picked up for the bottom choice at least half the time and have never gotten anything above the middle.

So they matched you with one of your choices?

Somebody in AFPC should get a promotion and a medal.
