  1. We've got a few T-6 pilots (AETC unit) that really like the visor shown at the link below. http://www.aquilaoptics.com/index.php?m=Home&c=Products&a=view&id=2 This visor is not currently approved for flight in AETC, and I'm trying to do our folks a solid and at least run down if there's an easy path for the powers that be at AETC to say yes without going down the AF1067 rabbit hole. Anyone here fly with this visor in ACC or elsewhere and familiar with any official safe to fly approval for them? Thanks in advance!
  2. "The other side of the story here is that the pilot has spent the past six years completing a two year training course, and still hasn’t passed any of the tests necessary to become a pilot. The airline became fed up, and since they’re firing pilots anyway and trying to cut costs, they also decided to terminate their contract with her at this point." What's that saying? Six years of pilot training down the drain, might as well join the f**ckin' peace corps. https://onemileatatime.com/qatar-airways-fires-pilot/
  3. Just wanted to give a shout out to any of the MARS guys who might see this. I've used them many times over the years for both official and morale purposes and I am so grateful these guys are around. My favorite MARS story of all was calling home from just off the west coast Italy to wish someone a happy birthday. HF propogation is an amazing thing!
  4. You sir made my afternoon.. I never thought in a million years I'd read anything from a DAU publication but Ward's commentary was spot on and entertaining to boot!
  5. BTLflyer, you will indeed have to renounce your citizenship. I was in the same boat as you, just the other way round (US citizen by birth but UK citizen as well due to my father being born there) You'll want to contact the British embassy in D.C. to start the process soon as it takes some time. HM government charged me $700 for the privilege as well so look forward to that. If you have any questions shoot me a PM. I went through that process a few years ago and should be able to answer any questions you might have.
  6. This is great stuff! I was familiar with the MARS folks but never tried it out. I've tried the HF Global network several times back home and was only ever able to make a successful phone call once.. Will look forward to giving this a go on my first flight back home.
  7. You mean you didn't figure this out before you signed on the dotted line and now you're pissed? Are you ######ing serious? Your derp derp filled rant indicates otherwise. Yes. Do someone else a favor and FSB yourself if you feel that you've made such a poor life choice.
  8. Doesn't compute. Services SNCO would have inevitably been the Wing Holiday Party POC or Multicultural Committee Chairperson, therefore on paper they are more valuable.
  9. FAM? As in Functional Area Manager? Why in the heck would you ask them those questions? You need to talk to your Unit Deployment Manager. If your UDM is useless (or like so many others, overtasked in a position that should NOT be an additional duty for non-Logi types), talk to your home station Installation Personnel Readiness folks to give you the lowdown on what you'll be doing and who you're working for.
  10. Gee, thanks for your perspective there Farley.. Merge the Air Force and end up with a force that is not only less capable but less able to prosecute national security objectives. Gotta love the way tenured academia types think..
  11. Amazing isn't it? You'd think that for as much as Big Blue preaches standardization, A1 would be smart enough figure out how the standardize the length of a bullet between it's own forms.
  12. That was exactly what AFPC said last time... And we all know how that turned out. What is it they say about history being doomed to repeat itself?
  13. BAH is prorated, so most likely what will happen is that when you in-process with finance at your new base, you will receive prorated BAH that reflects a couple of days from your old base and the rest of the month being at your BAH rate for your new base. "Most likely" being the operative words...
  14. At least they didn't randomly change the size of the bullet lines like they did when they randomly dropped a new PRF form on everybody a couple of years back. Having said that, I guess it's not entirely unsurprising that given how much the Air Force preaches standardization, A1 can't seem to standardize the length of a bullet between various forms.
  15. No way! I thought it was standard policy for all military masters factory schools to raise their tuition rates just weeks after barely hanging on to their accredations because they "care" so much about allowing us to get our learn on..
  16. I gave trident the middle finger a couple of months ago after they announced they were raising their tuition rates. Went ahead and transferred to Columbia Southern and couldn't be happier. They are only "nationally accredited" which might put some folks off, but if you're just looking for a check the box masters, the coursework is very light and they match what TA pays.
  17. Spot on. Nobody and I mean nobody cares about your career more than you do. They say the squeaky wheel gets the grease, but the trick is to be tactfully "squeaky" and not a whiner.
