    Judging from the AF retirements 2014 Facebook page there's some movement on the enlisted TERA process. About 5 people have posted that they have either a RNLTD of 1 Aug or a Sep date of 31 July.

    Edit: it appears they are approving 2X's today, three 3X's on Saturday...at this rate all the officers should get notified of approval/disapproval sometime in mid-October.

    Yea, I've got a 1405 date 6 Apr 1997... I was wondering if this was a sign... I know they use the 1405 to calculate retirement pay, my hope is this is a step in the right direction. If they can populate that date then why is it so hard to keep us informed. My family is about done living in limbo....

    After 15.5 years in the Air Force, my reservoirs of hope and optimism are completely drained but I don't think AFPC would be calculating retirement pay on a whim. Huge knock on wood!

    This "strategic pause" is beginning to create a "strategic clusterfcuk" for a few folks' post AF employment plans...

    Add units who don't know if they are keeping/losing bodies, TMO, FSS, Tap facilitators, families and schools. Oh and a few divorce lawyers salivating at the spouses who have been told "no doubt we'll have a answer this week."

    So it's 1610 at AFPC, I suppose it's safe to assume we are going into another weekend without a shred of real information about what's going on. I suppose rumor and innuendo will have to sustain us through the next 60 hours.

    So in the last 30 minutes (I took a break from hitting "refresh" to get lunch), a 1405 date has appeared in my CDB on vMPF. Not yet time for completely-naked-dancing-in-the-squadron celebration yet, but certainly any one of those seems appropriate.

    Nude dancing in the bar may encourage them to show you the door, at this point I'd do anything short of beastialitiy to get my ticket out.

    In all seriousness did you get a coresponding update in mypers? I'm still at FM-Valiation Complete as of 12 March

    AFPC is doing something with the TERA right now.

    My TERA moved to FM-Validation Complete yesterday and then today the title of my "Incident" moved from 'Retirement Request' to '//RETIRE IN LOWER GRD//Retirement Request' (which makes sense since I do not have TIG to retire as a Lt Col). Is it a light at the end of the tunnel or ... just the train?

    Caveats: 11M w/15 years service, just pinned on Lt Col a month ago

    Congrats man...good to see some movement on this finally.

    LOL...if you would have told me 60+ days ago when I applied for a voluntary program that was in both my best interest and the best interest of the Air Force (according to them...at the time) that I'd be sitting here with no answer as to what my future holds, I would have said you were crazy.

    Hopefully these dudes grow a pair and let us know what's up. It's really not that hard to communicate. I have cancelled 2 interviews, my bosses hate me, and I haven't done anything productive at work in 6 weeks; unless you call checking MyPers, BO, and vMPF every 10-15 minutes productive. Go to church, hug your families, and tell them you're sorry for putting them through this emotional rollercoaster. Good luck.

    I wonder how many millions of dollars in man hours has been wasted by the way this program has been rolled out. I know at least 10 O-4s (myself included) making 100k+ a year who have done exactly what you mentioned above for more than six weeks now.

    I'm now "Validation Complete." Catbox, is that yours? If so, see North48's post from yesterday. It sounds like Validation Complete is a step in the right direction.*

    *AFPC is involved. Mountain claims no actual knowledge of AFPC's process, to include: goat slaughtering, astrology, voodoo, chicken bone reading, or information gained through seance. It is recommended you assume everything AFPC says is utterly false unless it involves you or someone you love spending 365 days in a festering shitpool in some waste of a desert tribal land listening to some asshole scream in gibberish from the top of a minaret every 6-9 minutes. Because that shit's probably gonna happen.

    Sorry should have clarified...I was FM Validation complete on the 5th...now an update today with no explanation. I saw on the retirements facebook page that for the 19 year guys the mypsers updates essentially stopped and the approved notifications came thru the local FSS. I'm on leave for the next week and at least for the next few days can't get to email.

    did you check vMPF to see if you have a DOS of 31 Jul 14?

    yeah...tried but can only get to the limited portal with a login/password. Hoping to glean some information on what has happened to everyone else.

    In other words read the GD tea leaves because AFPC method at communicating with us has been for absolute shit.

    That's what they told me originally, but I pushed back (not like, prison style pushed back, mind you). I resubmitted on 15 Jan, and they processed it. By 21 Jan I was in the "FM-Hold Batch Processing" status and that's where I've been since.

    An unrelated thought: Has anyone else noticed that any time Circus Vargas is performing in a mall parking lot, nobody answers the phone at AFPC?

    Yeah id gotten the unofficial word that AFPC ducked this up back in jan, it's nice to see it in black and white. I know there's a few others in serious limbo with assignments vs TERA so figured they should check.

    What's becoming clear is that how "correctly" your package (sts) was handled at AFPC greatly depends on which Gs-7 technician your application was assigned to.

    Anyone see the NEW statement of understanding for the VSP types? The one with the new paragraph e stating that all future disability payments processed by the VA will be withheld until the VSP is paid back in full?

    I actually think thats standard for all separation packages. How that is legal or ethical to deny a vet disability payments they have earned, I have no idea.

    In other news this came out FSS:

    Important guidance regarding TERA (as I'm reading this, if you're twice passed over don't expect to be contined but you will be allowed to apply for retirement):

    As outlined in the FY14 Force Management program, the Secretary of the Air Force has authorized Temporary Early Retirement Authority, or TERA, to those members eligible to apply. As the CY14 Promotion Board schedule begins, TERA will be available as a part of post-board actions. If a member is a two-time non-select for promotion, is not offered selective continuation,

    and is TERA-eligible, they will be given the opportunity to apply for TERA after the public release of the promotion listing. Specific instructions will be included in their non-select letter. The Retirement Date associated with this targeted TERA window will be the mandatory DOS established by the board (1st day of the 7th month following approval of results by USD P&R).

    Hint for the rotator out of the Died:

    If you're on a 747 demand they seat you in row 30 or lower. That's business and first class. Except for DVs they shoved all the redeployers in back so civilians, kids and space-a filled in the nice seats at subsequent stops while we (including a couple guys on crutches) all were riding the cattle cart. The stewardesses were sympathetic but said once AMC have them the manifest they couldn't change seats around.
