  1. Just like to give a quick shout-out to Seth Lake at Vsl Aero (http://vsl.aero/). While TDY at Little Rock, he set me up to knock out my ATP practical over Labor Day weekend. The training was done in a Travel Air. It was straight forward and efficient. He did my MCI and L100 type as well (free of charge). He and two of his instructors are current or retired Herk guys. Lastly, he's made a post in the Market Place (link attached), if you got a couple buddies that need to knock out their practical, he'll fly to you.
  2. It was approximately 3 years ago. The complaint was that they unorganized. Perhaps, they required a little more hand holding. I’ll reach out to Downtown. Thanks, Fellas Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Looking for some updated gouge. I’ve got my ATP CTP complete and test complete. I’ll be leaving Little Rock at the beginning of September and would like to get my practical complete. While I’ve read good things about Downtown Aviation in Memphis, I haven’t heard good things from some buddies (however, it wasn’t recent gouge). When I leave Little Rock, I’ll be traveling back to WV. So, anything within a couple hours distance is preferred. Does anyone have any experience with Accessible Aviation in Mississippi? 4. The 130th Airlift Wing in Charleston, WV has an upcoming Pilot Board in November 2018. We fly the C-130H3. I've attached a PDF with the requirements for the UPT board. Applications are due by October 19th. If you have any questions, contact Lt Col Matt Bethel (info on the attachment) or shoot me a private message. Good Luck! 130th Airlift Wing Pilot Hiring Announcement.pdf
  5. Thanks, fellas. FUSEPLUG, would you be willing to send me a copy if that letter? If you wouldn't mind, I'd like to use it as a templet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Currently, I'm in the process of buying a house. I'm running into an issue with eligibility for our VA Loan. I'm guard. I've only been in the guard for three years. But, I've been on Title 10 orders for nearly two years for IFS, UPT, PIQ, and Survival school. Also, I'll have 6 months of seasoning beginning in August. The VA is denying my eligibility. I've submitted my current orders, but still denied. The loan officer is suggesting to write a cover letter, which I will. He's also suggested getting a letter from my commander. Has anyone had an eligibility issue with the VA? Thoughts? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. I'll just leave this right here. http://youtu.be/VrlfjiZO2dc
  8. Thanks, guys. I ended up calling Outdoor Rec and paying $10 to park it in the RV/Trailer lot. However, I started by asking Razorback Inn, which I was told my car will be towed. I asked how she would know, she said, "They just would." It wasn't worth arguing. Who the hell is "they?" I was told to contact Security Forces (You can see where this is going). The Officer at Security Forces said my car would get towed and I need to call the First Shirts at the 714th to coordinate something. Then, the Officer told me he needed to go because I was clogging his emergency line. So, he hung up. He gave me two numbers for two different First Shirts, which no one answered. So, I just called Outdoor Rec. The gentleman was very helpful. It all worked out. I would have just left it in a parking but the base is unfamiliar to me and didn't want to start my short period there with getting a car out of the impound lot or settling a ticket. Lesson learned. Thanks again for all the help.
  9. Appreciate the info, thanks fellas.
  10. Currently, I'm PCSing back to my home of record via DITY with a car in tow. Along the way, I'll be passing thru Little Rock. I have to be back in Little Rock at the beginning of January for C130 school. So, I want to drop off the car that I'm towing in Little Rock. Can anybody currently at the base, point me in the direction of long term parking on base? Or a parking lot that will not tow a car parked for over a month? Also, the car will be packed with house hold things, such as rugs, housewares, ect, would you feel save with your car parked for about a month on base with those things visible in the car? Thanks, Jake
  11. Thanks for the replies, fellas. Fuzz, I would appreciate it if you could check for that number. I'm actually looking to purchase a pencil tab patch that I've only been able to find on their website. Thanks.
  12. Does anyone know if AV8R Stuff (av8rstuff.com) is still in business? I've tried emailing them and the email address is unknown. I'd like a confirmation that they are open for business before entering my credit card info into their website. I did a search on the forums and didn't find anything.
  13. I went through in March. Apparently, we were the first class that didn't used the All Weather Coat. No one displayed them. Everyone stored them in there car's. As for the ankle socks vs crew socks, no one cared. I wore ankle socks. But, whatever socks you wear has to be displayed properly. Ankle socks were a little harder to roll at first. But, you get the hang of it.
  14. Our Flt/CC allowed several people to take there tablets to the classroom once we phased up.
  15. You don't have to wear the boots that are issued. You can wear the ones you already have, assuming they are within regs. You won't be singled out. Yes, you are thinking too much into this.
  16. Know the OTSMAN? Ehh...I don't know about that. You definitely will reference it and you will use it often. But, I definitely wouldn't waste too much time trying to "know it." No matter how well you memorize or how many times you review the OTSMAN, you are going to get yelled at. There is just no way around it. So, sure, you can memorize the dinning room procedures, marching, or column of files (which is in the HAWK)...you are still going to get yelled at because you or someone else will mess something up. I just wouldn't waste my time.
  17. How hard are the tests? Not hard. But, people fail them. You will likely have at least one failure in your flight. Do they give you enough time to study? They give you the entire weekend before the test to study. But, you should try and study a half an hour to an hour every night or every other night. Are the test questions pretty straight forward? Yes. They usually throw out one or two that everyone missed. The instructors do a good job at foot stomping things you need to answer the SOBs. Just take the SOBs with you into every class and write down the answers. Don't waste your time take notes on things that won't be on the test.
  18. I don't ever remember getting my waist measured at my initial FC1. They do weight you and take different heights.
  19. You can't do facing movements in heels. One female in my flight wore heels. She got destroyed by both MTIs, every Flt/CC, and the Sq/CC. They yelled at her all day. Don't wear heels. Put them in your car.
  20. I'm preparing for 13-04 as well. I've talked with several newly commissioned officers that graduated in AMS 13-01 class. They all said that they lost 4-5 guys on the first day because they could not pass the PT Test. In addition, one new Lt told me that they will give you a passing score if you are within 10% of a passing score during the first PT Test. But, you must pass the final PT test during the fifth week. I submitted an ETP to meet this regulation. Long story short, I needed to take the PT test 45 days before AMS due to scheduling conflicts. When my ETP was approved from the school house, the school house's response said, "Just make sure that he understands if he happens to fail the initial PFA on 1 Apr, he will most likely be sent home from training." I haven't attended AMS yet, so take my response with a grain of salt. I'm just passing along the information I have received.
  21. The AF News articles describes the retained aircraft as backup aircraft. This may be a stupid question. But, what exactly does "backup" mean?
  22. Smokey, It looks like sequestration will go through. Have you heard if IFS will be affected? From what I understand, the AF is trying to keep the UPT pipeline open. Jake
  23. At least we are hearing the same thing. Hope to see you at AMS in March. Does anyone (IPs or anyone at AETC) know when AETC releases the UPT slots for each FY?
  24. Has anyone recently received any training dates from the NGB? My package was sent to the NGB at the beginning of December. I'm assuming vacations during the holidays most likely delayed the process, which is expected for this time of the year. Specifically, I'm wondering if anyone has received FY14 UPT dates. I've been told all ANG UPT slots for FY13 are gone (makes sense) and the NGB can't assign FY14 UPT slots yet because those UPT dates haven't been established. Thanks in advance, Jake
