  1. I went to Incurlik a couple of weeks ago and after we landed headed over to customs to get our orders stamped. Right as we pull up in the crew bus we notice a large coach bus that was parking next to us, and about 50 dudes in wierd looking blues got out and beat us into the line for customs. We got in line behind them and were pissed, cause it was eating into our limited drinking/shopping time. Then we realized that these guys were TIB. A C-17 crew pulled up right after us and was waiting behind us, when their AC starts skipping the line. So our AC skips the line and tells the customs guy we need to get through for crew rest issues. 5 minutes later we are stamped and on our way, the whole time all the TIBers were staring at us with a look of shocked anger that somehow we were skipping them in line. It was awesome.

  2. yea our cc found out they are going to be slicks as far as we know-- doesn't make sense but who knows!

Cannon is an AFSOC base. They arn't getting any slick J's. They are getting MC-J's soon. Corpus does this fairly regularly where they have the wrong plane on the sheet to the wrong base, and it has bit people who didn't know before hand going into the drop. All of a sudden your base/aircraft is not what you picked 2 or 3 days after the drop and they usually won't/can't do anything to fix the situation. Have that in mind when you are looking at the assignment list.

  3. Part of it is they havn't increased the amount of guys going to Corpus, but they have changed what Corpus can drop. Now people are getting U-28's, MC-12's, UAV's, NSA etc. on top of the herks, whereas it used to just be herks. Still need to get those herk pilots from somewhere and they are getting less of them from Corpus now.

  4. Thanks for the warning, I'll make sure I only study the latest Ops Limits / Boldface - when was the last change that you had? They are still handing out the 30 Sep document at Laughlin...

Part of it is if you leave that site up, and someone finds it a year from now after you are done with T-6's, it could be a lot different then what the current boldface is. Also, if someone is a year out from pilot training, and downloads that and memorizes it and assumes thats how it will be in a year, it could bite them a little when they are relearning boldface. I think he is just giving those guys a heads up.

It isn't an issue for you as much if you are already there and have access to the new boldface as it becomes current.

  5. I'm glad you are taking the word of a fired tutor for an online music class. I know its wrong, but if every student who ever cheated on an online test was kicked out of school nationwide, college would be a lonely place.

And 24 gators have been arrested since 2005. Their average SAT score is 890 Compared to FSU's 941. That puts the gators in the bottom 10% of college football programs nationally. Y'all definitely have the nations best and brightest playing for you.

  6. Waiting to get on base this morning, the dude in front of me was chatting it up with the civilian gate guard, so I was just sitting there slowly getting frustrated. Then I hear the 2 skycops behind him talking, an airman and an NCO. The airman says "I don't really like giving out tickets." The NCO says "I used to be like that but now I love it."

At that point I rolled my eyes and pulled forward.

  7. So did I. I don't get it. Am I missing something? What was so great about it? Kanye thought that was the best video of the decade?? It doesn't even touch Beastie Boys "Sabotage," just to name one.

Sabotage is 15 years old, and from last decade. Only 4 months left in this decade. Time flies.

  8. I can tell you that the use of the term 'legacy' really gets under some dudes skin. I'm not one of them, but I have several friends who really have a problem with the term. Anyway, that's another discussion.

"A legacy system is an old system that continues to be used, typically because it still functions for the users' needs, even though newer technology is available."

I don't see how that is an attack at all. 1960's-80's technology still being used cause it gets the job done, even though 90's-00's technology is out there.

If people are offended by that, then all I can say is damn.

  9. it allows bases to practice team work at a very high level without the high cost. You have to understand that TIB is an immense undertaking at each base. Logistics coordination in of itself gives each base a taste of what it takes to work as a "whole" team to get the mission done. This allows bases to see their logistical weak spots without the cost of a real ops-tempo. Maybe there should be a more open forum for folks to see what it really takes to run a "low cost" high ops-tempo regimen such as TIB. You would be AMAZED at what individual bases would learn from the after-action reports.

You have to be shitting me. I think that is one of the most rediculous things I've ever heard. Instead of practicing like we fight, lets just sing a song and dance, thats basically the same as deploying to a foward location.

  10. disgruntled, thanks. Ive seen many comparisons b/t the sec and the big ten and going on their histories: nat'l titles, heismans, all time wins and we are pretty close. Both GREAT conferences. Yes the big ten is down the past couple years, go back to the early part of the decade and the big ten was the dominant conf, now they are down, this happens a lot in college football, the sec is on a high now, who knows a few years it could be different. Keep in mind no Sec team has more wins than Mich or OSU. I'm not trying to start a battle here, just have a little respect, I have tons of respect for the sec, but I still love my big ten, Im a loyal fan. I don't look forward to having to go to sports bars in bama trying to watch an osu game, Im sure all the ppl will do is heckle me.

Its just the nature of the beast. When teams/conferences have a down year, they are hard to find on TV when not in their area. People are fickle and want to watch the winning teams. *which makes sense. Who do you care about outside of your own team that you root for? Probably the teams ahead of them to see how they are doing*

The only team that defies all logic and would still get all of their games broadcast even if they went 0-11 is Notre Dame.

  11. Are we seriously slamming the big ten? I was on here to get a simple answer, as a new user, but now I see its just sec fans who feel they have something to prove. Yes Ohio has a football team, hosting 7 National Titles and 7 Heisman trophies, tied for most. The only other sec school to come close to that is 'Bama, good teams years ago, Utah took care of that tho... Yes the sec is good, I'll give you that, and espn makes sure we hear it day in and day out, quit watching bc thats all they talk about. I don't jump on that bandwagon, I stay loyal to my teams. I Didn't start this treat to start an argument, just wanted to know if I could watch my team down here, I watch sec back home, some good games and great atmospheres, too bad all I got was people slamming me...

Going on recent history, maybe when the big ten doesnt choke in the big games they will get more attention. They went 1-6 in bowl games this year, their one win coming against S. Carolina, a decent program, but far from a dominant anything. They lost to the Pac-10, SEC, Big-12, and ACC, with the one win being against a lower tier SEC team.

The past is the past. Show me some results.

  12. I was reading about some of the Thud pilots in Vietnam having specialized "party suits" and wondered where they all went? I saw this post but I have not really seen any pilot wear one. Has the PC-Shoe influence caused the party suits to fall by the wayside? Seems like it would be a good way to show that bit of rebellion in the AOR while still maintaining that "professional" appearance.

My grandpa gave me his party suit from Vietnam. And he was an EC-121 pilot after being a C-47/C-54 pilot. I'm not sure what happened to them

  13. Man, this discussion had some potential until the ROTC and A&M talk started making the room spin...from all the gayness.

Id rather take a cheese grater to my sack than hear some field training story about how cool your CTA was.

    Beers.

you lash out at the ROTC stories calling them gay, and then contribute after obviously reading through them all. Does that make you gay?

  14. I got to Vance last summer, and I only saw two F-16s drop on assignment night, and they were both with a F-22 follow on. One FAIP got an F-16 in November, but that was it.

Right, thats because they shut the pipeline down. He is asking what the drops were like before they shut the pipeline down. I don't know the numbers, but I know there were *relatively* a lot. It was the norm to see multiple F-16's every drop.

  15. Yes, cheap shot because you are wrong. If the vets never supported him during his campaign, why would it matter during re-election?

Where are you getting your notion that vets don't support Obama? Not everyone in the military is a gun loving republican.

I don't think its a stretch to say the majority of service members are republican or at least conservative, and vote that way most of the time. For examples, looks at any political post you have posted in. How many supported you, and how many called you an idiot?

Obviously its not 100% across the board.
