  1. He was my best friend. Here's to you Will, you goofy SOB. You are already missed by 1000's and the world is a lesser place. A nickel on the grass...

  2. A toast... The emotional price paid to be one of the men in the arena can be steep, but there is no closer bond.

  3. This is why I am leaving. 1. Not everyone wants to go to school but the big AF thinks differently. 2. However, if you don't go in-res you won't ever really have a chance at SQ/CC or higher. 3. SOS instructor prestigious? Mine was fired from his last job and was clearly not on the fast track. WTF? 4. DG. It never stops in the AF. Your next OPR, next assignment, upgrades, schools and the constant competition to get ahead never stops. Just so you can be SQ/CC or higher where you will likely be a puppet to your OG or WG/CC. It's always something that the AF is holding over your head to get you to perform. I'm sick of that damn attitude and the queep that we create for ourselves. This place has become an utter clown show.

  4. YGBFSM. I saw the posts and had to look back to see what great deal this person got. You could not pay me enough to do that gig. In fact, I'd pay my salary not to do it. Teaching worthless stuff at a worthless school to go to another worthless school so I can compete to be a micromanaged sq/cc. Posted from the NEW Baseops.net App!

  5. 95% of the smack-talking pilots on this forum are more worried about records that are competitive for airline gigs. Check out the "Leaving the AF for the Airlines" thread for starters. Get over yourself, nobody around here gives 2 shits about your ideal career track.

  6. Please. The AF decided shit. They provided near blanket VSP approval to 11M's in the 2004 to 2008 year groups which (IMHO) equated a roll of the dice. AFPC was obviously overwhelmed by the response to the VSP, hence the delays. I like the way Cox spins it to look like it was a calculated move by big blue.

  7. My experience with flight med has either been a solid "meh" or outstanding. Our current doc isn't technically assigned to our unit, but he's in the building and hangs out with the bros, and is constantly running around helping whoever he can. The good docs I've had have always made a point to have us call them first, they'd then fast track us through the machine/ fit me in between appointments/ etc. The good docs seemed to get that their job was to take care of people while facilitating them doing their jobs, how do you train a cadre of docs to understand that? I don't want you to auto DNIF me for everything, I want you to help me find a way to keep flying without fucking myself up long term. There's a reason most flyers won't admit to problems unless shit gets really bad....

  8. There is no solution to the assclownery at the MDG. What do you expect when you combine the enlisted afscs with the lowest asvab scores, a bunch of single digit GS's; and the bottom fifth of every medical school in America? Don't count on MiCare to be the savior; I gave up on it after every email said "call us for an appointment."

  9. I admit it's not the most elegant solution, but if the determination is made this FY to drastically cut back on 11Ms in staff positions (and all other flyers, to boot) in order to avoid cutting back on readiness for the required missions, then yes, it's a workable solution. Not all flyers will lose opportunities...the cream will still rise to the top.

  10. Tnkr, Reserving judgment until final bonus take rates are posted. There are several ways to tackle the aviator staff issue, to include using a much greater percentage of non-rated officers in rated staff billets. This would be particularly effective at the higher staff levels (HAF, CCMD, JCS), where rated positions are "over coded" as such. As a result, flyers with HHQ/Joint staff positions will have it made come board time...it will become an even bigger distinguisher.

  12. This is a huge opportunity for this individual that I'm betting 95% of the smack-talking pilots on this forum wished they had the record to compete for. My hat's off to your friend, Skitzo. Good work.
