Military Spouses

I will be married by the time I start my UPT and my fiancee is deadset on being able to work while I'm in UPT and afterwards. She believes that is the only way she will find fulfillment is simply working and doing something jobwise. Any advice or help from any other wives out there would be great! Does she have to work? Where can she work? We realize that training is short and she is not expecting anything grand in those couple years, but she needs something to occupy her time. Supporting me is not enough for her...someone please help!

Ok women... I need to know... AND I know that this might sound stupid or shallow, but I have to ask... Just how formal do the women need to dress to the parties where the men have to wear their blues? Even tho I grew up in the Air Force I never saw this aspect of things, and I don't want to look way over/under done to these parties. when i started upt, the wives were very friendly to the 2 of us (female pilots in my upt class). i was invited to dinner when the married folks invited other single pilots over, we all hung out and had fun. when i got to my first base, the unit was small, and though i wasn't invited to the spouses' club meetings, when the wives came to the squadron they were all real nice and friendly too. adn we still went out to dinner in groups and what not. i'd say that the wives in my current squadron are not as nice or friendly. my personal opinion is that the spouse club "leader" should invite female pilots to their group - at least once. why not? i'd love to meet more w…

Okay I have a hypothetical question for those who would know. Lets say you get married on a Sunday and you go on a week long honeymoon. If your wife gets injured during the honeymoon is she covered? This is assuming all the paper work has not yet been given to the MPF, the Med group and all that. Thanks in advance

My boyfriend has just started on the flightline for the T-1. He'd been previously training with the Navy so we are expierencing the AF way of training for the first time. I am geographically seperated from him to begin with. Is it normal for phone calls to decrease greatly now that he's hit the flightline in AF training? My pilot friends tell me this is normal...help! What are realistic expectations I should have of him?? :(

Does any know the reg or could post a link to the appropriate document that discusses proper conduct in uniform with a significant other?

I'm an AFROTC cadet graduating next may (05) and then will be heading to UPT. My girlfriend and I have been talking a lot about when is a good time for us to get hitched, and i was really curious as to how 'newly wed' life would be getting married right after commissioning and then heading to UPT. For those of you who have been through it, is it pretty hard on the spouse having your husband gone all day and then preoccupied with flying for the rest of it? If we held off for awhile can you live on base with someone without being married? Is getting married right before UPT a particularly bad time? My fiance (wife-to-be on 14 May 05) is getting her secondary ed (English) degree at the same time I'm commissioning. We're going to Sheppard AFB for ENJJPT (my medical came back qualified last week! woohoo!!!), and we're wondering what we should do to try to get her a job there. She has her teaching certification here in AZ. Does she need to get recertified in TX? Also, should she look for a job now in Wichita Falls or should we wait till we have our orders? This if off the subject, but when should we start looking for a place to live in Wichita Falls? I've been told I should wait for my orders to start looking. Is there any feedback on getting pregnant and haveing a baby while your husband is in training? We'll be ready to have number 2, but don't know if would be too overwhelming. We're going to be in Del Rio starting the beginning of August coming from Germany. We can't wait to get "home".
