  1. All of you asked for change, enjoy your 31 flavors of ice cream. https://www.airforcetimes.com/news/your-air-force/2018/05/21/no-more-group-commanders-air-force-tests-new-wing-design-that-gives-squadron-commanders-more-leeway/?utm_source=clavis
  2. Are commanders falling like a $10 Russian juicee in heels or what? Damn I miss Korea and that lady who would park her food cart at the front gate of Osan right around the soju walk of fame curfew time. https://www.airforcetimes.com/news/your-air-force/2018/05/22/commander-senior-enlisted-fired-from-air-force-civil-engineer-squadron/
  3. Returned from a 6 month deployment and was staying in lodging. Picked up my truck registration off base because it had expired while I was deployed. A rent-a-civilian cop wouldn't let me on base with my brand new registration in my hand. "You need to peel off the old sticker he told me." Hey dumbass, I've been deployed and my truck has been sitting in a hot ass storage unit. That sticker isn't going to just peel off without a razor blade and some window cleaner which is in my toolbox on the base. After going back and forth he called someone and they told his dumbass to let me on the base. Moron....where do they find these people?
  4. I thought TriCare stopped paying for those?
  5. We need new uniforms because we have to mop, cut grass, and clean the bathrooms. Oh nevermind, I was having a flashback to the late 90s. We have contractors now.
  6. I think a lot of us have been in since 1998 know the history. You have probably worn BDUs like me or maybe not. ABUs were deemed the most worthless uniforms of any branch. Doesn't matter the color palette. Between my short tours to Iraq and Afghanistan, the AF stuck out like a sore thumb. If we sent people to certain bases that were all special forces they would want us in their gear. Two short tours to Joint Base Balad (2010) and Bagram (2011). Last time I checked, Al Dahfra airmen were rocking ABUs there in 2016/2017. It has since changed.
  7. The uniforms the Marines use were cheaper than any other branch to make and test. Their uniforms actually could withstand combat ops in Afghanistan and Iraq. Oh, and they actually worked to camouflage you from the enemy. Kind of important especially if your base is under attack. When insurgents attack the base, Air Force personnel are the only retards running around in reflective belts and ABUs. Just put a target on your back and charge a dollar for every hit. I saw a special forces guy go outside the wire to no shit spray a dude in his damn PT gear to defend the base. "Make shit our own? ABUs was the beginning of going full retard."
  8. Housing Management Office, WG/CC, and his Command Chief not giving one shit about BAH. Even after someone filed a congressional inquiry. Leadership: "We feel as though the BAH levels are appropriate." They don't live off base. If GS civilians in the HMO office are complacent, then what good are they?
  9. Who would give the AF grenades to begin with..WTF? Brilliant idea when most people from what I recall misplaced their weapons a lot in Iraq and Afghanistan. We had personnel receiving paperwork for it. So who do you think will get fired for #lostgrenades? https://gizmodo.com/the-air-force-would-appreciate-some-help-finding-a-box-1826056964
  10. This guy has 3 short tours under the belt. Functional told me I'm butt naked last and will never receive a 365!
  11. If it's not the number of FGO awards, the programs and amount of money you oversee will be the next discriminator. I swore my buddies package said something like a billion dollars. He just counted the price of every satellite we ever launched. Oh and he managed 300 EKIAs, but only deployed once. I don't even think some task forces kill that many dudes.
  12. The 17D in question was prior enlisted like myself and we became buds in AFROTC. I'm proud of him because he will make Lt Col. But after reading his PRF, I was like who the hell wins FGO and CGO of the year 4 damn times? This is one reason why flyers are not being promoted. Padding the old awards. I would assume flyers like myself would have more flying medals to offset any awards. The promotion board typically gets it right from what I hear so it's cool. My CC and I look for officers who constantly submit themselves for awards. We shred packages for people who don't deserve an award period. I advise my CC to give these selfish individuals feedback and he sure as hell does. But there is a thin line too. Some guys are trying to take care of themselves because who else is going to take care of you if you have been boned by big blue before? 2 weeks later and a DUI? Bruh...I reached into an airmans heart after his second speeding ticket on his motorcycle. I had him in tears. I have only had to do that once in 17 years. I know I saved his life because he was on the need for speed death trap.
  13. I think the Lt was saying we want more PME. A good old blanket party is what the Lt needs and it worked wonders for Pvt Gomer Pyle in the movie Full Metal Jacket.
  14. What’s Driving the U.S. Air Force Pilot Shortage? http://foreignpolicy.com/2018/05/04/whats-driving-the-u-s-air-force-pilot-shortage/amp/ Navy pilot Lt. Jack McCain claims that Air Force pilots “are not provided the opportunity for meaningful leader development.” If this is your boy, please tell him to STFU. He isn't helping.
  15. Amen. Told my CC I'm not staying a day past 20 years. I have a bud who is a 17D and he just received his PRF for his IPZ board to Lt Col. He doesn't understand why I refuse to do ACSC. We have very different view points on leadership. I don't believe in being a physical fitness nanny to officers as an FGO. His response was you should make people do a mock fitness test before their actual testing. This will ensure they pass so your CC looks good on the Wing slides. WTF? I believe in being a good follower and taking care of the CC, but in flying squadrons we aren't in the habit of shaking officer dicks after they piss.
  16. When you have killed Bin Laden and wasted most of the top leaders of the Taliban, what else is there to do? https://news.usni.org/2018/05/03/10-seals-set-separated-service-failing-drug-tests-investigation-underway
  17. I'll be the second guy to support the "Me too career suicide movement." Those of you who are SAPR or resiliency appointees can be rest assured I will self report and do my sensitivity CBTs tomorrow morning.
  18. Pentagon - Closed for training day until 2020 AFPC - Open 1500-1530; Closed - Any other time you need us. Oh, and the servers for AF Portal and LeaveWeb are down. Enjoy your 4 day Memorial weekend.
  19. I am going to retire in 2 years. I told leadership I am not doing ACSC because my parents and old lady are more important. My parents won't be on this earth forever and after 17 years of service, I owe them for my success. My next duty title will be far above my peers: Wing FGO Snacko Supreme. I feel like I get to walk away from the AF on top. A friend of mine was picked up for ACSC in residence and he walked out the door to a flying job with UPS. Talking about a serious mic drop....
  20. Why don't people speak up? I don't have an E-9 in the squadron. But when our Senior starts acting like a Chief, I damn sure speak up utilizing a respectful tone. No rank should be exempt from a STFU moment, especially when an idea is pure garbage. As a prior, I feel the need to say something because as you gentlemen have noted some E-9s are on Gilligan's Island and there is no Ginger or Mary Ann in sight. When a SNCO is being dismissive (going old school) of great ideas during a meeting, they are suffering from spatial disorientation and you need to talk them back onto their instruments. If your CC will not speak up, please say something, but always do it with respect. Good Chiefs will understand and I want to think some of them still exist.
  21. Thank you. That would make sense because he stayed downtown but had to commute to Randolph.
  22. What do you gain from doing ACSC and do you lose anything for completely blowing it off?
  23. Simple question. If you are going to receive an assignment to work in west San Antonio, where is a good place to live? Just as a point of reference, Randolph is located in northeastern San Antonio. Friends have told me to get a place downtown, but I was told by a SNCO the traffic would be atrocious.
