  1. I'm all for surveillance in public areas... keyword being public. This includes the Internet, phone systems, mail systems, road systems, etc. Worried on the Internet? Encrypt your communications. You can encrypt your email to levels that simply can't be cracked. It's when they start demanding surveillance in my home that I'll have a problem. Until then, have at it fuckers. As for the argument raging about the Founding Fathers and their views as applied today... I really think the FF left us the best framework possible for a government. I truly believe in smaller government and will always watch with a weary eye as the government gets bigger. As should all Americans.
  2. Long way to go, dude. Don't even worry about it. It will have been three years from the time I started my application to OTS to when I actually start UPT. Three fvcking years. Hopefully you'll fare better.
  3. That scramble of Ely's and the subsequent pass/catch was absolutely luck. If anyone puts that up to either Ely's or the receiver's skill, you're kidding yourself. The throw was weak and he should have been sacked. The catch was only possible because the defenseman's knee broke the receiver's fall. Had he fallen directly onto the grown, the ball would have touched and they would have called it incomplete. It was definitely a great game. Lots of pressure on Brady and certainly a surprising outcome. But the Giants' offense was weak. They caught some lucky breaks.
  4. Pats and it won't be close.
  5. Not just travel. Pay. Finance. Everything.
  6. One thing I don't understand is how this crap isn't freaking easy and damn near fully automated. This whole business logic could be coded into a program with a database backend and a few babysitters to help answer questions and deal with only the most extreme circumstances. I guess that's what comes with having 19- and 20-year-old Airmen doing the legwork. Hell, I've only been in for six months and I've already seen some late payments, lost forms and the like. WTF? I guess I just don't understand payroll for such a large organization. Every civilian company I ever worked for was perfect... truly perfect... with my pay. Perhaps it was just the smaller scale. Definitely one benefit to the civilian world... more money there, too!
  7. When I'm lifting weights I notice that my form and strength on the left side is terribly lacking as compared to my right. Yes, I understand that people are naturally dominant on one side of their body and naturally stronger there, but this is a bit drastic. Further, when doing shoulder exercises specifically, I get an unnatural twinge in the left shoulder. It affects other exercises as well, but not nearly as much. So I wonder if I injured the ligaments/tendons in there or something. Question is, is this something I go to flight medicine for? Is this something I can get a doc to send me to physical therapy for? <- still backwards
  8. Just went through OTS with 10 traffic violations. No problem with the application process or selection. As for getting tickets while you're there, same deal. Report it to your flight commander. I don't think it would be a big deal lest it were habitual. But for ease, just don't get caught in the first place. Take that as you will.
  9. I had always heard from my parents that the Air Force (and I assume the other branches) were likely to give you the boot if you came into some large sum of money. Any truth to that? If not, man... I can't wait to win Megabucks and just keep flying like it was nothing!
  10. Ah... That USO. I always associated them only with bringing American musicians and comedians to deployed locations. Didn't know they had stuff at airports. Forgive the ignorance.
  11. Help for noobs... What's a USO?
  12. Just graduated OTS with a number of guys who were 29 and headed to pilot training. You're fine.
  13. You'll be running the risk of pushing back your class date. If you report it, a doc at MEPS is going to have to check you out.
  14. My understanding is that gangs are more of an Army problem.
  15. Lake Arrowhead seems like a good candidate.
  16. As stated previously, the supply of women is far greater than the supply of old warbirds. Give me the warbird any day. After all, once the lights are out, it all feels the same (within reason, of course).
  17. I know perfectly well who Robin Olds is. Not all of the up-and-comers are clueless. Robin Olds epitomized what it should be to be an Air Force pilot.
  18. I can't comment on the part about glider time counting towards overall flight time, but don't believe that civilians have zero chance with zero flight hours. Plenty of people have been picked up without any time in the cockpit. It certainly makes it a little more difficult, but certainly not impossible.
  19. This whole story stinks to high heaven. "Kidnapped" for three days, magical return and now a LOA 'cause she misses her husband. If you can't handle it, get out. With all the force shaping and such I'm sure Big Blue could find a way to make that happen for you. And I kinda agree with M2's comment. Maybe not in the execution, but with the intent. Same with that Playboy SSgt (though her story isn't quite as funky as this one).
  20. Just watched it again... seriously awesome. The best Air Force-related video I have ever seen. And I've seen a LOT of them. (I have nothing to do at work.) Beautifully done. Beautifully done. A similar video is also available on the site with some of the same audio clips but intermixes GWB. I love this sort of stuff.
  21. Now that is a ######in' Air Force video. As stated above, whoever put that together needs to be in Air Force PA. That video did an outstanding job tying together the Air Force of old with the modern Air Force. See the USAF DOES have some heritage to speak of! Promote it!
  22. Positive: living in/near Vegas Negative: not actually flying
  23. CD players? I don't really listen to CDs much after getting my iPod. Even in my truck, it's all about the iPod. That thing has a bit of everything: - Disturbed - Avenged Sevenfold - Eminem - In Flames - techno/trance - Dr. Dre - some party country - Tchaikovsky - Skynyrd - AC/DC I'm diverse.
  24. I"m trying to get ahold of my dad's 2004 Yamaha R1. His wife won't let him ride it so I should be able to get it from him fairly cheap... $6K maybe.
