May 2, 201114 yr Aliante is definitely the way to go for renting. There are closer places to live but I would recommend against them. If you do decide to buy down the road (great time to do it btw) either Aliante or Henderson are your best bets. The east side of Henderson is a 25 minute drive to base and avoids the strip. The west side is about 35 minutes going past the strip.
May 2, 201114 yr Colonial Grand at Desert Vista is probably the best option. The apartments are nice but parking can be challenging at times. It's about 10-15 minutes from Nellis. Cable is included in the rent and after utilities you can still bank around $250 of your BAH. Stay away from the Preserves. They used to be nice but they went downhill fast.
May 3, 201114 yr Thanks for the info guys. When you say Aliante, are you referencing the general area or is there an apartment complex that goes by that name also? Also, I'm a civilian so no BAH. Edited May 3, 201114 yr by ForgotPassword
May 3, 201114 yr There's a bunch of houses south of Aliante which are a lot cheaper in rent but the same security/size, just less flashy/green neighborhoods. The fees to live there are like $15 a month, Aliantes are pretty drastic which digs into the rent as well as the "glamor" of living in the newest part of town. I'd recommend renting a single home and not going the apartment route. It's a great deal and you can pick up a roomate later. Nellis is the tacitcal hub of the Air Force man. All the fighters fly here, and the exercises are awesome. Hope you like it!
May 3, 201114 yr Thanks for the info guys! Keep it coming! I am excited, Nellis was my 1st choice. Will be my first location with out "winter" and -45 degree days. Only shitty part is that I might have another short, 8-9 month PCS, after about 6-8 months of being in the desert and then again PCS back to Nellis. Worth it, me thinks. May 3, 201114 yr Any Casinos on the strip have a military discount? Most of them do, you just have to call and ask. This is the official Nellis ITT website link that list most but not all of the local discounts.
May 5, 201114 yr Anyone know of any guys looking for a room mate? It might be temporary(4-8 months) depending on when I take that short PCS to a school house.
May 5, 201114 yr <creepy> Is it less creepy if I tell you I've been a member since 2006 but lost my password and no one can seem to find my old account?

Ann Road and south is where the vast majority of North Las Vegas Police responses are. (talk to some cops when you show up anywhere)

June 1, 201114 yr Rather detailed, perhaps unanswerable question- Does anyone know if Nellis/Creech have Navy Reserve Intel Officers and their own SCIF(latter not that important)? I am trying to figure out where I will have to drill from. Will suck to have to drive/fly to Denver and/or Sandy eggo. Thanks.

Hmmmmm, lemme think about that for a second. Nope, I don't think so. Sorry.

June 2, 201114 yr I am trying to figure out where I will have to drill from. Will suck... This is what I'm really talking about. You're trying to be a fucking reservist and you don't even know where you're going to drill from? Are you fucking kidding me? AND, you need a SCIF of your own? You want fries with that?
