Hey everyone,

So I reached out to the 39th Flying Training Squadron about this same questions and I am waiting to hear back. Out of curiosity, can a UPT training squadron sponsor someone for UPT?

Ideally, I would like to be an IP for the USAF, and go through UPT then PIT. I am currently an aviation educator (CFI/CFII/MEI and college classes for a university,) and even after 4+ years of doing it, I still love it.

Additional info (if it helps;)

MEd in Curriculum and Teaching will be done in March, GPA 4.0/4.0.

BSc Aeronautics, ERAU, GPA 3.6

I recently turned 28.

PSCM 99, although, I would like to take the AFOQT again to improve my verbal score.

Not that it matters for selection, but I occasionally teach aerobatics and UPRT as well.

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Don’t take the AFOQT again unless you got like a 20 on the verbal. All it could do is hurt your PCSM and I don’t think anyone cares about your verbal score anyway.

Currently in UPT and have heard rumors of unsponsored hires being able to be assigned to the reserve squadron after graduation if said persons couldn't find a unit at the end of training. I highly highly doubt a reserve training squadron will sponsor somebody and send them to UPT though. Best bet would be go unsponsored if unsponsored boards are still happening.

It's definitely possible for a Reservist to FAIP, one prior Nav did it a little while ago. He was unsponsored and wanted to stick around, apparently.

Thanks!

If you are talking DLF he couldn’t get the picked up anywhere else so he stayed there.

If a 340 FTG squadron decides to FAIP you, it won't be the 39th. You have to have been an UPT instructor for a tour already to instruct PIT.

Wow, with scores like that you could really go to any unit you want.
