KDEN has A LOT of runways. They have runways that run North/South, and runways that run East/West. If the winds were out of the west, why didn't he request a Westward runway? It is up to the PIC to "safely" operate the aircraft too.

Perhaps it was the the corporate culture of "the guy ahead of me got in without requesting a different runway, so can I."

It's not an excuse, but that may be his reason.

Once a "KNOCK-IT-OFF" is called, all participating aircraft will:

- Acknowledge with call sign.

- Cease tactical maneuvering and the scenario.

- Deconflict flight paths and climb/descend to a safe altitude, blocks, or as briefed.

- Address any problems/issues. Obtain verbal clearance from the flight lead/mission commander/exercise director/representative before resuming maneuvers.
