August 17, 200916 yr You have the Knights collision, the bombing, and then the hydro plant explosion. What next? https://www.comcast.net/articles/news-world-europe/20090816/EU.Russia.Jets.Collide/ https://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/8204670.stm https://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=abTSuT2fsxR4
August 17, 200916 yr Sh*t happens I guess. It's a big country and they haven't exactly maintained their technology to the utmost in recent years. Plus there are still a lot of areas that would love to break away from Moscow.
August 17, 200916 yr You must have never loaded an AN-12 before. They can't even figure out a load plan. Lord knows how they even keep their planes flying.
August 18, 200916 yr Author You must have never loaded an AN-12 before. They can't even figure out a load plan. Lord knows how they even keep their planes flying. ...like overloading?
August 18, 200916 yr Read an article where the pilot that was killed the other day in that accident previously deemed the SU-27s to be "too unsafe to operate in the combat forces."
August 18, 200916 yr ...like overloading? Holy SHIT! that controller was great. "we have Smirnoff" " i'd hoped to have been able to have filmed the crash" Why am I not surprised. As bad as the USAF is, I mean we promote to Col guys with 1500 hours, but the Roooooskies make him their Black Knight lead........
August 19, 200916 yr Author Holy SHIT! that controller was great. "we have Smirnoff" " i'd hoped to have been able to have filmed the crash" Why am I not surprised. As bad as the USAF is, I mean we promote to Col guys with 1500 hours, but the Roooooskies make him their Black Knight lead........ Een drusha, plane flies yoo!
August 19, 200916 yr Een drusha, plane flies yoo! I believe the investigation found that the pilot screwed up. I can't remember the exact details, but he either mis-computed the takeoff thrust setting or the aircraft was heavier than it was supposed to be. Pilot error in any case.
August 19, 200916 yr Those AN-12 guys will do 50 knots taxiing down the west ramp at Baghdad with inboards shut down just to save a little gas. Seriously, look both ways before crossing that street.
August 19, 200916 yr Took this from an article with regards to houses damaged on the ground due to the crash: While the Ramenki district administration said Monday that they expected homeowners to pay for the damages themselves, the Moscow region administration said they would compensate people for damages, without giving any figures. How thoughtful of them.
August 20, 200916 yr Holy ###### when is it not Pilot Error???? The MX dude could wire tie the gear underneath the panels at DEPOT and it would be Pilot Error when they fell off on takeoff roll. DA roooskies are told to fly. If it gets off the ground great, if not... thats what pilot error is for.
August 20, 200916 yr Russian flying ops is definitely a different culture from western aviation. They don't quite have the term "risk management" in their vocabulary.
August 20, 200916 yr They don't quite have the term "risk management" in their vocabulary. That would be sweet. I have to write a fucking novel and give the crew's a physical just to fly a local. It is complete idiocy. Maybe there's a happy medium somewhere in between the rooskies' "zero risk management" and our "fill out a new ORM sheet because you moved the flaps and I heard the loadmaster cough" mentality.
