I put Columbus Laughlin Vance. Don’t want to be in the middle of nowhere Enid with a wife and kiddos. My wife doesn’t want to be in Texas because she thinks the cartel will kidnap us close to the border lol

Like I said....Take what I said with a huge grain of salt. I am hoping what I heard was right and I hope this government shutdown doesn't delay the results

Hey all, What I’m about to share, take with a very large grain of salt. I have a friend who applied and their commander was actually on the board this year and just based on a conversation we were having, although the government is shutdown, results are still being processed and potentially at final adjudication. Final adjudication means that the selection list is making its way up the chain for final approval before being released by AFPC. To me it would make no sense that the Air Force would leave a board like this up to soley gov civilians to process. There had to have been a contingency plan in place. But again, after over a decade in the Air Force, I can maybe count on one how many things have been done that makes sense lol. However, with this news and my friend actually being stationed at Randolph extremely close to AFPC, I am hopeful for results in the coming weeks.

Hey! If you don’t mind I’d like to share a bit of advice. Submit and Forget! That is a phrase I was told when I applied for OTS. Thinking about this constantly will drive you crazy. And it will get worse if you add in the fact that the government is shutdown so the office that should be processing things isn’t even in. If you’re selected this will be your last year in your current careerfield. So! Make memories, and cherish the potential limited moments you have left. If you aren’t selected, you should be set up for success next year because you can use this time to make yourself more competitive. I hope this makes sense. It’s okay to thing about it but don’t let it consume you.

I just know these government officials need to get their act together and open the government and quibble about their issues where it doesn’t effect millions of Americans.
-
And I’m just curious what plugs do you have to get this info lol. I myself know people in high places but none particularly in AFPC.
-
What else can you get from this little birdie? Maybe allocations? Or the commonality amongst packages that scored high?
-
Absolutely right. Our fates are decided already. Over the next few weeks, things are just being finalized, routed, approved, and eventually disseminated. Literally will know within the next 50 ish days!

Not to crap on anyone but I think preparing a truly competitive package and meeting the needs of the Air Force will probably be what gets you through the door. And further more already being rated makes things super competitive for you already because as a rated officer, you don’t really get put in leadership positions until your what a captain? Most Lt’s in non rated jobs are OIC’s as second Lt’s. Additionally, the way you are selected for this board may be the same way OTS boards go. They could only have a certain number of slots needing to be filled and depending on your board score if you don’t have a good enough board score it may not get you over the threshold to get one of those slots. Example, I’ve seen some packages of people explaining all that they’ve done in their current career field and all the good they’ve done but not really highlight their potential in the new field their trying to get into. So yes there may be an increase in Lt selections, but what careers fields are those Lt’s in, how many of them are rated, how many of them actually led and demonstrated the ability to take on a level of increased responsibility.

No they have access to all of that stuff already. Some are just wanting to get their opb that maybe just closed out and wasn’t a part of their file yet to be included in their UFT package. The board is already happening and the majority of the packages have probably already been reviewed. Honestly I don’t think an opb is going to move the needle enough to yield a selection or not. If the rest of your package shows your potential to be an effective aviator and you have good scores that’ll move the needle. I wouldn’t worry about anything. Nothing much you can really do at this point.

Yeah the guy at AFPC is extremely helpful. He called me this morning to request a doc from me. But we’ve been in contact for almost 2 years now. As far as the strats afpc isn’t going to change them. I’m assuming you’re at Creech. I know no one knows their Strats from the wing but if you know how you did at the group there’s a good chance your strat at the wing may be the same or close to where the group stratted you.
