2025 ACTIVE DUTY UFT BOARD
I wonder if folks are still getting put into the 2.5 classes. Apparently Laughlin is moving to IPT format this summer and Vance in the fall… but that is when people would in process at those bases from what I’ve been told. IPT is about 5 months long, so that would put the first T-6 IPT class at Laughlin starting around Jan 2026 and April-ish for Vance. There will certainly be classes starting between now and then following the old syllabus, so that leads me to believe quite a few of us will get the old syllabus. Thoughts?

Russian Ukraine shenanigans
It is obvious to me that this is a win win situation for the United States. Trump and Vance's actions will either cause a negotiated peace deal, or it will force the EU to completely handle supporting Ukraine. Either way is a win for us. Ukraine is not a member of NATO, and we have no real obligation to support their defense. Additionally, I think some second order effects of this conflict have been ignored. For example, Russia has gotten to experience and adapt to three years of war against western weapon systems. This experience/data will no doubt be used against us in a future conflict against them or China, god forbid it ever comes to that.

Initial Pilot Training and Future Pilot Training
It definitely seems like MX has a large piece to play in the Columbus issues, at least according to what I've been hearing. The only thing I may disagree with is you saying the IPT thing won't produce more pilots. If IPT really does reduce T-6 hours from 90ish to 50-60 per student, that will certainly allow more T-6's to get back on the flightline due to the reduction of hours. However, that assumes that manpower is the bottleneck and not parts, which I don't know since I am not there. Also, I am pretty sure that T-6 MX is contracted, so if parts is not the issue, some serious research should be put into whether or not that contract is sufficient. BLOB: the trainer fleet has been abused and not enough has been done to remedy it.
