Ugh. This is such bullshit. One year later nearly to the day. We've buried too many good dudes here lately.

This is the guy that immediately popped in my mind when I sat here and read about the "toxic" climate at the 87th. Trojan was one of those dudes that had it figured out, as a FAIP, more so than some dudes twice his age ever will. The balance he struck between instructor and bro was absolutely perfect. Flying with him was like going up with friend, right up until you f'ed something up and then he set you straight. I trusted the dude implicitly in the jet, his professionalism was beyond reproach. He was one of those guys you met and knew "Yeah man, this guy is going somewhere."

Sorry I over-g'd it on you Graz. I hope you're teaching Stuck how to fly better Tac Form up there.

    Him him. 🍺

He had it figured out and was waiting to head to IFF and then B course.

You weren't the only one to over G on his watch. Either.

  3. I will be in the minority here, but just press with IFT.  You have a guard slot so its not really delaying any training in my experience.  I went from OTS, straight to IFT, straight to UPT.  Its low threat, most of the instructors are awesome, you can meet some bros, ghe C Springs area is nice, and you are on orders getting a paycheck plus per diem.  Better than sitting around after OTS waiting for UPT.

So the recent Seattle stolen plane crash involving Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 had inverted flight for some time. It has a symmetrical wing? Or he used the horizontal stabs to compensate? Perhaps a Cessna 172 can fly inverted too.. not gonna try it myself though lol

Many airframes are limited in inverted flight only by the oil and fuel systems properly feeding the engine.

So, perhaps many of you folks here have flown upside down in an airplane like the T-6. We all know that the shape of a wing is what causes lift due to air on top of the wing moving faster than below the wing, which creates a pressure differential. Low pressure over the wing, high presure below the wing, inturn produces lift which balances weight. Thrust forward balances Drag backward.

Now, when you fly inverted and level at the same altitude- the lift should be pointing toward the earth because the same shape of the wing is upside down. This adds to the weight. So what force is balancing upward the (weight + downward lift) that's pointing down?

Not all airframes have an asymmetric wing 😉

However, in order to maintain inverted, level flight an aircraft with the common airfoil design would need to use a flight control surface such as horizontal stabs to compensate for lift direction.

  6. I just saw this on the AFPC Facebook page.  Has anyone heard much about it?

If you’re an officer over 30, you may have thought you couldn’t apply for pilot training. Good news! Air Staff has granted a three-year extension to the limits for both Age and Total Federal Commissioned Service for the 2018 Undergraduate Flying Training Selection Board hosted by AFPC this November.

This means that applicants who are under their 33rd birthday (instead of 30th) and have less than eight years TFCS (instead of five) do not require an exception-to-policy for consideration for a Pilot, Combat Systems Officer or Air Battle Manager slot in the next UFT board. Applicants for Remotely Piloted Aircraft Pilot have no age limits at all…you know, other than the whole retirement age thing…

This exception to policy is intended to increase the eligible pool of candidates meeting this year’s board. Oct. 26 is the application deadline for the 2019 Undergraduate Flying Training selection board, to include any approved waivers and exception-to-policy requests. Visit myPers and search “UFT,” or the UFT page on the Air Force Portal for detailed application information. #AirForce #AFPC

Probably ed up an ELP...flying canceled, UPT will be all sims until further notice. Also, might as well skip IFF while we’re at it.

Quick to jump to conclusion.  Guy is a good dude and a great pilot.

I'm not saying you are wrong, but based on the location of the incident, I'd disagree with the ELP assumption.

    EDIT:

Hoping its sarcasm carried over from the ELP thread.

Unlikely that South Dakota hires anyone not already enlisted in the unit.

Apps aren't even due to the 114th until the end of the month.

Additionally, historically the 114th tends to choose from within the unit, however, lately they have been selecting 2 to 3 guys per year to include non priors.
