  1. Please reread that carefully. That was not a question, or you may have quoted the wrong thing.
  2. As I had stated earlier, I am serious about this and I am looking at evry possibility.
  3. I accidently posted replies when I actually intended to quote a few guys so I think my posts are out of order, but I have a question for anyone on here that knows. I was reading a thread that discussed possibilities of going from navigator to pilot and the advantages of having navigator experience since you are a rated officer. However, it was posted in 2006. Does this still happen? Basically, a navigator that is considered having flight experience has a better shot at ENJJPT than an ROTC candidate because of his proven ability to fly in fighter aircraft?
  4. I am willing to do well and doing and being everything it takes. What worries me are a few things, 1) USAF downsizing and cuts(having less aircraft, more competition, 2)ROTC getting more stringent and now requiring field training to be done before getting a pilot slot, 3) possibility of getting RPA in ENJJPT after all of that hard work. There are other factors that are many and that's why I come to sites like this one, to find people who have been there, and ask for their time to tell their experiences and what walls I may run into going this route.
  5. If you are familiar with the ANG way to become a pilot, that's the way I'm going instead of the ROTC AD way there. I've read deeply about the process from the forums on this site and I feel confident about going this route.
  6. Yes, I want to study Russian because my overall goal is to become an astronaut. If I become an ANG fighter pilot, I will go back to school and get my aerospace engineering degree to knock the easier one out first and increase my chances for a higher gpa than I would with getting my aerospace engineering degree first. Again, I apologize about my Oct 14 post.
  7. Hi, have you went the ANG way to becoming a pilot? Are you a pilot?
  8. If I go the ROTC route, and get a major in Russian studies with a high GPA, will students with degrees in Aerospace engineering be considered the ones to get the pilot slot over me? If I go AD, I plan to go to ENJJPT, but wouldn't mind going to SUPT. Is it true that a lot of people(statistically) don't have really high GPA's when they try to major in AE? My overall goal is to go to USAF test pilot school, become an experimental test pilot flying fighters, and then become an astronaut. First, I wanted to major in Russian studies, so I can increase my chances for a high GPA and ENJJPT(AE would probably lower it)., then serve my time flying fighters AD, then transition to the reserves/guard, and get my degree in AE because it is great to have if you want to become an experimental test pilot. I would get my master's at USAF test pilot school, or the National test pilot school. Thanks.
  9. Is there a better way to study for the AFOQT besides the ARCO study guides/ books.? I see many of the forums on here mention they are the best books.
  10. I apologize for my post on Oct 14th. I agree I should respect all military members on here. I am not trolling anyone, trying to figure out which way and the best way to become a fighter pilot seems stressful and impossible to predict. I want to go the guard way there because you already know what you are going to fly when you get accepted to the UPT board. Thanks for the help.
  11. Hi, I admit this is kind of a "what are my chances" question, but not really. Please read my entire question before removing it. I am graduating high school this year. I've thoroughly exhausted all of the forums on this website and I am an expert on the ANG pilot selection process works and how to get there. First of all, I have recently taken the ASVAB and I have found out I have very high scores, enough to get the job I want when I enlist in the ANG-Aircrew Flight Equipment(life support specialist). I want this job so that I can have tons of face time with the pilots so they can know me. I thought this job would be best. I know everything else about how to become a pilot. I want to become a fighter pilot. However, there are currently two units hiring for this position. I am not sure which one would be best to join and give me the greatest chance of getting a UPT slot. One is the Maryland ANG and the other is the Ohio ANG. I am fine with moving to either state. There are a lot of factors to consider. One of the things I thought about was the number of aircraft each unit has. The 175th wing MD ANG has only one A10 squadron, and the Ohio 180th FW has 2 F16 squadrons, which I assume has more aircraft and therefore a better chance of having more UPT openings when I finish college. I assume the 180th hires more often and has more UPT boards more often? Is this true? Can anyone give me some suggestions? This is not a question where I can search onto the forum for, its more of a "help me decide" question.
  12. So which degree would be better to obtain, Aerospace Engineering, or chemistry?
  13. Hi, can you become an Air National Guard fighter pilot with a degree in aviation? Would they rather take someone with a worthless aviation degree or an Aerospace engineering degree?
  14. Its stupid and ignorant to lock my thread because I asked a simple question. @ high speed, you, u are full of shit!!!
  15. Hi, I plan to major in aviation because it is a really easy degree where I know I would be able to get a high gpa with. I plan to enlist in the Air National Guard throughout college and major in aviation with a high gpa. Also, i plan to learn spanish and have my instrument rating and private pilot license by time I graduate college. Would an ANG fighter unit choose someone who majored in aerospace engineering and has the same gpa as mine? Would they rather choose another person with a different degree? Is there certain college degrees they desire which can be a plus on your application? Would you reccomend me getting a degree in aviation or something else a fighter wing would look for? I dream to fly fighters in the Air National Guard such as the F35A with the Vermont ANG. What should I do? Also,I heard that an aviation degree is worthless and gives you no backup plan. I would get a low GPA in aerospace engineering because it is extremely tough, and I will never be selected into a guard fighter unit. I do know my gpa would be high with a degree in aviation. I am willing to risk it because I really dream to fly the f35a. Also, what other things can make an applicant to a guard fighter wing look competitive? I appreciate anyone who has gone through this to help. Thanks!
  16. Hi, I am looking forward to becoming an f18 super hornet pilot in the navy or flying F35Cs. My question is, how do you get an NSS score of above 70 in flight school? Anyone who's already done this? Also, how many flight slots are given to the naval academy each year? In flight school, how many people usually have their pilot licenses/ instrument ratings, etc vs the many people in a class? How many jet slots go out in a class every year?
  17. Hello, I plan to go into a 4 year university, enlist in the ANG, and major in aerospace engineering. When I graduate college, I plan to score high on the AFOQT and apply to fighter units. I have a few questions regarding this path. I really want to become an F35A pilot preferably with the Vermont ANG. My first is" Will a high AFOQT score make up for a low GPA in college?" I am worried that since I am majoring in a tough major, I will have a low gpa, therefore making my fighter wing application look less competitive. I also plan to have my commercial pilot license/rating by time I graduate also, plus my enlisted service, to make my application look competitive when applying to UPT boards. Typically, how many people usually apply to fighter wings in the ANG each pilot slot opening? Thanks. I am new here on baseops and I'm trying to do as much research, and get as much help as I can to achieve my dream. Thanks for your time for answering! Also, I forgot to add, what other things can make my application even more competitive?
